Puppetz vs. People - This Weekend! The annual holiday tradition of humans vs. puppets is here again! This Friday and Saturday nights, join us at the Winningstad Theater as a team of ComedySportz players takes on a team of Tears of Joy puppets in a crazy, anything-can-happen ComedySportz show.
It's ComedySportz like you've never seen it before. Your favorite players ... your favorite games ... and your favorite puppets. One team will win. One team will lose. Both teams will try to beat the stuffing out of each other.
Shows are at 8 p.m. this Friday and Saturday night at the Winningstad Theater. Tickets are available through Tears of Joy at 503.248.0557, online via Ticketmaster or at the door subject to availability.
Not into puppets? No problem! Our regular puppet-free home schedule continues this weekend with shows Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 7 and 9 p.m.
Special ComedySportz Discount From KATU Want to get five ComedySportz admissions for only $25 (that's a mere $5 each if you're doing the math at home)? Our friends at AM Northwest recently featured ComedySportz on their Great Deals web site. Get a Loyal Fan Card with 500 points for only $25. That's good for five free admissions RIGHT NOW, plus $2 off future tickets and future savings when you buy concessions or admissions.
To get this great deal, simply visit the AM Northwest Great Deals page and order it up. It's a perfect way to bring the family to a show this holiday season for less, as well as a fantastic stocking stuffer.
We're All Over Your TV It's been hard to miss us on TV the last couple weeks. First we had a great behind-the-scenes feature on OPBs Oregon Art Beat. If you're a fan of ComedySportz, you'll love this look at how we practice and prepare for our matches. You can watch it on the OPB web site right now.
Then last week we were brought in as fake guests on AM Northwest to fool hosts Helen Raptis and Dave Anderson. Watch as Andrew Berkowitz pretends to be a crossword puzzle champion and Herb Spice pretends to be a relationship expert.
Your Holiday Party Could Use A Laugh OK, it's almost December, and you know that you should have the entertainment lined up for your company or church holiday party but you just haven't gotten around to it...

Oregon Public Broadcasting Covers ComedySportz! Ever wonder how ComedySportz players prepare for the high-speed, unscripted fun you see on our field?
OPB's Oregon Art Beat goes behind the scenes on Thursday with a segment on ComedySportz Portland. Produced by Katrina Sarson, the piece takes you to a ComedySportz team practice, with a look at how the games and skills translate into the ComedySportz show. Interviews with Andrew Berkowitz, Brooke Chamberlain and GM Patrick Short may also make the cut.
If you can't view the show live, you will be able to view it as streaming video from OPB's website after it airs:

The show airs tomorrow, Thursday, November 1st at 8 p.m. Please pass the link and recommendation along to as many people as you can. We'd sure appreciate it!

ComedySportz Teambuilding Catches Fire! Did you know that we teach workshops for companies based on our improv games and principles?
We do - and we're setting records this year with the number of workshops we're teaching. Companies like Logitech, Nike, SignaCert, ADP and folks like the US Attorneys, Washington State Attorneys General, Oregon Convention Center and Oregon Economic Development are turning to us to create fun and meaningful staff development on topics like teambuilding, communication, innovation, sales and customer service.
We'll work with you to design a session or set of sessions that meets your goals. Powerpoint can be a great tool, but we believe in turning off the droning and getting people to experience change - and we never forget the fun.
Could your group use some training that's FUN? Give us a call at 503.236.8888, visit the website or e-mail us at portland@comedysportz.com.

For those of you who do not get our newsletter, I thought I'd repost tons of exciting news. Here you go!
Portland to Host 2008 ComedySportz World Championship!
Shareholders of the World Comedy League voted in July to award the 2008 ComedySportz World Championship to Portland, Oregon, where the event will be hosted by ComedySportz-Portland.
The CWC is a weeklong combination of comedy camp, convention, meetings, parties, trade deals, cash exchanging hands, consumption of local food and drink and, best of all for our fans, fantastic tournament-style matches.
We expect the best players from 20 teams to attend, including such CSz clubs as Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, San Jose, Los Angeles and Houston - all of whom have played in or won the championship in the last four years. Defending champs Quad Cities will be there, and we're reasonably sure ComedySportz Manchester-UK will bring their wacky style and amusing pronunciation of such words as "aluminum" along with them.
Matches will be held on July 31, 32 and 33, 2008* at the Gerding Theater at the Armory, the brand-new theatre space owned by Portland Center Stage. There are two shows each night, at 7:00pm and 9:45pm, and you'll see two matches with four total teams in each show. The theatre seats about 600 people, so there will be around 400 seats available for fans at each match - those loud guys in the balcony? Those are the players from all of the CSz cities who aren't on the field.
We last hosted in 1999, and, with the help of hometown judges, won the championship. Can we do it again? Not without your help.
We're looking for partners to sponsor portions of this tremendous event. If you are looking for positive, family-friendly exposure of your business, please call us.
We'll also be looking to sell some tickets to this thing. Look for some deals around the first of the year.
Tell your friends. Please. We won't be hosting again for another decade at least, so jump on the bandwagon now.
* Yes, we know it's July 31, August 1 and 2, but that's hard to say.

Hi everyone! We're back from the WCL 2007 tournament in the Quad Cities (Which is half in IL, and half IA). We played extrememly well and took 3rd place.
We would like to announce that Portland was awarded to be the host city for the 2008 tournament! The last time we hosted this spectacular event was in 1999. It was also the last time we won. So let's hope the hometown karma helps us out again!
We will be posting more information as we get closer to the event. We can tell you that the main venue for the tournament will be held in late July 2008, at the Gerding Theatre in downtown Portland.
If you have any comments or questions, please drop us an note and we'll get back to you as soon as we are done being funny.
