June 16, 2009 - Tuesday
This month, Aspersion dissolved it's live lineup to restructure and refocus. The band is currently working on booking new shows as a purely electronic act, which is closer to Aspersion's original vision. With the growing popularity or Live PA acts and DJ's, they hope they can bring their music to unexplored avenues.

We want to give a special thanks to Kevin, who is a great drummer, and a good guy. We know you will move on to great things. Also thanks to Revolution of Knowledge, Crashsight, and Red Pyramid. We are not saying goodbye...just refocusing!

Unfortunately, this does leave us cancelling any shows we previously had booked (If it was not booked by Carson or Myself, we actually have no knowledge of what was booked as it was never communicated to us.) If you are a venue who had us on the bill and have questions or want to discuss rescheduling, contact Carson by leaving a myspace message.

I want to say a much deserved thank you to Mark with NakedLens.org for coming out to our show at Liquid Lounge last Saturday, Jan 24th. The man is amazing and his photography is unbelievable. The photos he took can be viewed in our pics or by clicking here.
You're awesome Mark and you are amazing at what you do!

Current mood:  excited
Last October, we were at Guitar Center and registered to win a Roland drawing. Well, today we got news that I had one the grand prize, a Roland Fantom G8 Music Workstation! Merry Freakin Christmas to me!!! The thing is worth over 3 grand. Cha-Ching I look forward to messing with it. I went to Guitar Center and told them the good news, and brought them xmas cookies to say thanks. I messed with the one they had up there and I am really excited. Carson :D
August 27, 2008 - Wednesday

We have a brand new song, "Feel Tonight", up now. This is a very sexy song and hope you like it. If you have ever just wanted to take someone 'right here and now'....then you should get it.

Rebecca did a great job with this one, and really captured what I wanted for it. She is awesome. We also got to use our new mic for this one and are very pleased with the warmth and added midrange clarity.

We are not sure if we will play this live on the Sept 11th at the Prophet Bar, but we do have some other shows in the works and it should be part of those upcoming sets.

Finally, I do wish to say thanks for supporting us. We are constantly amaized that people really seem to care about and enjoy our work. We make music we enjoy, and to know others enjoy it too means the world to us.

~Carson

P.S. We do want to make sure you add a few friends. Red Pyramid, Uglyhead, Wolfcult Chior, The Prophet Bar, and our newest hangout on fridays, Panoptikon. Look for them in our friends list.

July 3, 2008 - Thursday

We have a new version of "Consistency Fails" on our page right now. Check it out and let us know if you like it. We have retooled it a couple of times in the past, but were never really pleased with it. the original demo was good, just poor quality. When we reworked it earlier this year, we never got the same mood as the original demo. However, this final version really brought it home for us and we could not be happier. Lyrically and message wise, CF has always been one of our favorite songs, and it is nice to have it completed with a great recording and the dark mood we intended.

As always, feedback is appreciated.

Rebecca

Carson here:

Ok...so I had the Roland Juno-D for about 3 weeks and had to take it back. The more I used it the more frustrated I became. It had some cool features and a few really great sounds...but it just was not "electronic" enough for what I needed. So yesterday I took it back to Guitar Center and got my $300 store credit and went shopping for another synth. This time I decided size didn't matter, but style did. So I caught myself going back to the MicroKorg and the Alesis Micron. After a few minutes messing around with both, I went with the Micron.

So, 24 hours later and what do I think?

OMG it is AWESOME! Why the hell didn't I buy this thing to begin with? It is everything I need and way more. The sounds are perfect; it is loaded with relevant beats, and is just made for electronic music. Hell, it even has a preset called "Vince & Andy" which made me laugh (an Erasure reference. Vince Clark and Andy Bell.)

Anyway, I am really looking forward to June 21st now. I feel like I now have the perfect instrument for live shows (as well as future writing and recording.)

Carson here

So to do our part for the economy (lol), we made some fun new purchases. First, I got a new synth. A Roland Juno-D. It was super cheap at Guitar Center last week. This is big because thus far I have only used software. While the Juno-D is not the greatest synth in the world, it will work well for playing live. Be sure to join us on June 21st at Skillman St Bar to see how it works out (shameless plug I know!)

We also finally invested in a good microphone. Please understand that since Rebecca started doing vocals, we have recorded everything using a Shure SM-57. That's right....a 57 (not a 58!)

If you don't get the significance...we were using an instrument mic that really should never be used for vocals lol. But it was all we had so we made it work. Well, we finally took the leap into condenser mics and purchased a Shure Beta 87-A. All I can say is "WOW!" (ok....that's not true, I can and will say more!)

It is so much better of a mic! The clarity and presence it gives Rebeccas vocals is mind blowing. Best part is we can use it for live and recording quite well. Anything will be a step up from the 57!

Anyway, that is all for now. We are looking for a small cargo trailer in the DFW area, so if you know of a good used one for sale, let us know. Under $1000 would be great, under $650 would be even better.

May 11, 2008 - Sunday

Hey guys, as you know we have been looking to go live for a while now. Well, we have our first show June 21st at Skillman Street Bar!

We will have more to share on this later, for instance, who will be helping us make this step and whatnot, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out our page for details on the Skillman Street Bar show.

March 22, 2008 - Saturday

Current mood:  flirty

Hey guys, lots of great stuff on our page now. As you might already know, Aspersion is working towards both a CD and going live around DFW. Part of this process has meant reworking our older songs. Well, right now, you can hear 3 of our latest revisions, including "Nothing", the first song Carson ever wrote lyrics for and my debut as Aspersions vocalist! Carson did a great job on the new arrangement.

You can also hear "Under My Skin", a song that we recorded before, but never finished it in it’s previous incarnation.

The new, and now finished version is just fantastic!

And finally, we have a new version of "Simplicity of Belief", which was previously put to the music of Alic Stone’s "Deadly Sins". Alic has had some other artists express interest in writing vocals for that song (Who can blame em, it’s a great song!), so we took this opportunity to write original music to go with the vocals we wrote for the previous collaboration. Carson was able to take the song in a whole other direction and we hope you like the results.

Of course, you can also hear the original collaboration with Alic Stone on our player too!

As always, we appreciate any feedback and general praise! haha.

xoxo
