Current mood: artistic
So things have been moving fast this year, I've been fortunate to link up with exciting and positive people here in LA. One thing that happened recently was my adventure of tracking down the elusive Kogi BBQ truck! This was back in early January just as they were becoming the Korean Taco giants they are today (just a month later!). They made a stop at Sunset Junction here in Silverlake, so I took a trip with my sister and neighbor Sojin Kim to see what it was all about!
Little did I know that it would get picked up by the Kogi blog and be featured by LAist.com as 'Video of the Day' a short time later! Now people recognize me as 'that Kogi taco guy' or the 'Chasing the Dragon' guy! LOL
Later I met up with Chef Roy and rapped about fusion-tacos and his vision of spreading good food and good vibes across LA! It just happened that Kogi partnered with my homies at the Japanese American National Museum for regular Kogi stops on Thursday nites, so I DJ'ed the opening nite a few weeks ago. It was a real scene! Hundreds of people and the line was going all nite long.
Kogi taco fiends at JANM, 1/29/08
Droppin the J-Reggae for the Kogi Massive
 Me and Chef Roy
Peep the recap vids courtesy of Bobby Okinaka & Clement Hanami:
It was a great opening event and I played a lot of J-Reggae! One of the tunes I played was 'Go For Broke' by Hibikilla, which was inspired by his visit to JANM! I linked up with him a few years ago, showed him around LA and told him about the story of American Nikkei. He was so inspired by the struggle of the Japanese Americans that he pledged that he would write a song about the Nisei soldiers in WWII, kind of like a 'Buffalo Soldiers' tune.

Hibikilla was also featured in the latest issue of RIDDIM (famous Japanese reggae magazine), he gave me a shout out and explained the story behind his new song 'Go For Broke'!
Pretty cool, you can check out the original article here: http://overheat.com/riddim/issues/no/311/hibikilla_the_times_demand_dj http://myspace.com/hibikilla
I'll try to put up a translation when I have time. So thats a lil update on what I've been up to. Things are moving fast this year! There are massive emotional, political and economic changes happening on the planet too, I'll write about that next time. Until then as Hibikilla says, 'keep your genki' and project positive vibes :)

Its a little late to say 'Happy New Year' but just in time to say Happy Chinese New year! LOL
Things have been moving fast this last month and will continue to accelerate as we move forward! The energies after the Winter Solstice (12/21/08) were *very* strong in pushing us forward and came in strong again around the Obama inaugration. Its very important to ground yourself from now on because the energies will be flowing back and forth from week to week and even day to day! Its an exciting time to be alive, and 2009 will be a year to remember :)
Some other quick updates, I did an hour long interview with Astrologer and empath Denyse Zaradia Baham, you can check it out here:
Denyse is a great resource and person to go to for readings, if you're thinking of getting a reading you can contact her at zaradia.com
I was also on her internet radio show, we talked about the importance of crystal children and so-called ET souls to wake up and become active at this time. You can check out the show here: http://blogtalkradio.com/Zaradia/2009/01/15/Wake-Up-Call
Denyse is doing shows weekly now so be sure to check out her show! http://blogtalkradio.com/zaradia
I'll be putting more updates soon, until then everybody stay cool and project irie vibes!

The next phase of the financial collapse has begun. Prepare yourself mentally & spiritually, as we go into the end of the year the situation will accelerate. I've been talking about this for years and made specific references to it in my new years blog posts. As we are ultimately spiritual beings we WILL survive if we have the will and mind to do it. Have no fear this is a process that has a purpose and has to happen for the progression of humanity! I'll post more on this soon. Put your faith in the higher powers and please project positive vibes as we move forward. Fear is the mind killer, peace love and understanding will protect us though this financial and spiritual storm.
7/11/08 -Masaki aka AkaiderIts now Saturday July 12th after a black Friday of sorts in the US stock market. We had the 2nd largest largest bank failure in US history yesterday (IndyMac a Pasadena-based firm heavily involved in the sub-prime Real Estate market). At the same time, Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae, the Federal loan organizations were sporting Enron-like charts down nearly 80% from their highs of a few years ago. You could spend hours going over why this happened but the most important is reading the overall trend and the larger signifigance.
As far as the financial fortunes of America go and the current global financial system, its clear that those days are numbered. While most Americans feel the pressure from rising gas and food prices, most have no idea that the US dollar (the defacto common stock of the USA) had fallen 40% in *seven years* and the decline is due to accelerate in the near future. As far as financial options, it would be beneficial to get about of debt and if possible get some hard assets like gold & silver. For those of you in the Southern California region, CNI in Inglewood (golddealer.com) has decent bullion prices, but do your own homework - I take no responsibility for your investment decisions! Its probably best to stay away from collectable (numismatic) coins, as Gold & Silver bullion are more clearcut for the average person. Also this should be obvious, but in a time when banks are going under, keep only enough money in the bank to do daily transactions and cut down on unnecessary expenses!
Going back to the current crisis, despite the feelings of fear and anxiety, if you talk to people that lived through the Depression of the 1930s, they always say times were tough but they almost view those times with nostalgia. They remember how people came together and helped each other and it was a very good community vibe. So as we enter these hard economic times, we are given a chance to come back together in a way that has been lost in American society for quite awhile. Hard times have a way of bringing people together!
Also as I said in previous posts, we have been undergoing intense karmic death, a Pluto-Shiva experience in the macro and micro over the last few years. It hasn't been easy as we have been forced to face all of our problems in our relationships, our careers, and our spiritual life. In my personal circle of friends, I've seen many long time relationships come to an end, and many new things beginning to bloom. One friend has become a full time spiritual student and is about to embark on a multi-month trip to India. Another is on an exciting trip through the European continent, and for me I'm experiencing what its like to be an immigrant in Brazil! But whether you go half-way around the world or just a few blocks from your home, the important thing is to be adaptable, listen to your intuition, and embrace change.
There are multiple cycles and timelines overlapping at this time, but in general we are at a crossing point between one age and another. Just like you felt some sadness & angst during your high school or college graduation, the human race is about to 'graduate' to another level, one that has taken at least 26,000 years to get here! If you take into account our true human history, its into the millions and billions of years. What we are about to witness is a leap as great as the jump from cave man to modern man! So yes, its normal to be feeling 'millenial angst', its a big step for all of us. As the world that we know decays and falls away, its important not to focus too much on the corpse of a decrepit immoral and corrupt society, but to look forward to the birth of a new world which offers the chance of a new start for all of us. In terms of astrological cycles, the Piscean Age, the age of faith & paternal order has been waning since the 1700s and we hit the mid-point of the transition into the Aquarian Age earlier this year (2008). Every day we move forward, the cosmic glue that held the old order together is getting weaker and weaker. We won't be completely into Aquarius until the 2200s, but the tipping point is happening now and there's no turning back! If you can understand the meaning of the age and the 'flavor' of the times we are heading into, it will be a much easier transition than clinging onto an old system that is never coming back! Turbulent times could last in America until the 2020s so its best to be calm and stable in your own life and commune with like-minded people who understand what's going on!
Keep in mind that even as many things are falling away, great opportunities are arising for the independent minded. We are also forming new social groups so never feel that you are alone, your new partner or best friend could be standing right next to you if you took the time to look around! I hope this has been an interesting read for you, stay in good spirits and stay positive. There are even greater changes to come but if you listen to your intuition and understand that these changes are necessary and natural it will make this transition much easier :)

Well, its been a long time coming and its finally here! After living in Los Angeles all my life except for a year in Beijing, I'm moving my digs to Sao Paulo, Brazil. Its kind of surreal, but I know its going to be good and its something I have to do. I notice that a lot of people right now are busy embarking on new projects, new relationships, and a new life which is more fulfilling than what they were doing in the past. This is definitely what I'm doing!
I have too many things to say to post here, but I would just like to thank all the homies that have supported over the years including DJ Audio1, ERS-ONE, DJ Shiro, DDUB (who put me up on the deep reggae-dancehall cuts), Juan PVK, DJ Slyten & Des, Dan aka MC Provoked, HIBIKILLA & Mani-chan, DOW JONES, RAW & Kemst, General Malice & Sara, all PDX Lodubs crew, Mohan, Pete Lee, Miss Imajeri & Angelo, Tom & Kathleen from Label Networks, AJ 'Action' Jackson, Susan aka Lil Dragon, my Bangkok homies Tirah & Margie, Erina from the IE, Senshin Sangha & Kinnara Taiko, the old and now disbanded DB crew (now doin their thing worldwide), the old China EAP crew, my old JANM work crew (Lil' Tokyo WHUT), the Otis dungeon crew, Sherwin aka Sonny B, Miss Borrah Jackson, and last but not least my parents who have supported me all these years.
I'd have to say that the last couple years have not been easy, but sometimes change even positive change is what we're most afraid of. I definitely feel like I've been through the roughest part and am finally crusin downhill. In my last hours as a fulltime Los Angeles resident I'm feelin more LA pride and am definitely gonna bring that to all my projects in Brazil. From the Dogtown Z-Boys, to the Eastside Cholos, Southbay Buddhaheads, hardcore sk8punks, chilled out rudebwoys, we definitely are originators of culture here in LA. I was born & bred here, sh*t I got red taco sauce runnin in my veins! So I can't help but REPRESENT LOS every day I'm inna Brazil. Definitely keep in touch and lets keep movin forward in the 08!

Last year I wrote an overview of the themes for 2007, and it turned out to be pretty accurate! For myself 2007 was a great year, I accomplished a lot and really solidified what I want to do in the near future. But before I talk about the future I'd like to go over a quick review of 2007.
As I've said before, years go in a circle of 9, and 2007 was nine year representing the end of a cycle. Last year I said that we would see many things come to an end, with a theme of 'closure' coming to the forefront. Old relationships and structures that were no longer relevant would fall away to make room for new relationships and new ways of living. This turned out to be very true! I personally saw many of my friends going through breakups, divorces, changing jobs, and moving to different areas of town or even out of the country! This process is still on-going but for the most part our past has been put to bed and now new energies and new directions are coming in.
Another area that I focused on was the 'rebellion' meme which is connected to the destruction / decay of the old ways and the emergence of a new phase in our history. The rebellion theme was present worldwide from mass protests of Burmese monks to the WGA strike here in Los Angeles. There are numerous examples but if you look back you'll see this pattern emerge very clearly.
The last thing I want to review before going onto 2008 are the economy and earth changes. Last year I predicted a currency collapse of the US dollar, and while it hasn't quite come to that yet, the US dollar dropped significantly against the Euro and even the Canadian dollar in 2007. I also predicted more Katrina type natural disasters and we did have many floods and fires worldwide last year. Southern California residents will remember the fires we had from Malibu to San Diego. Expect to see more of these kinds of events as we move forward. Just remember that as things fall away, new things will be coming in. The Native Americans understood this not as destruction, but as 'Cleansing'.
Well, after that long recap, I'd like to say congratulations to everyone as we're finally here in 2008! As I said before, years move in a cycle of nine and 2008 is a one year, the start of a new cycle. Its a very important year and one you'll remember for many years to come. 2008 is the best year to start new projects, new relationships, new ideas, and in general start a new life for yourself. Its going to be an explosive year, for some it will be heaven and others total hell. How it turns out will be up to you!
While most people focus on 2012 as a seminal year, in my view not much will change on 2012. Why? Because by then all the changes will have already happened. In fact, the turning point or tipping point is happening RIGHT NOW! 2008 is the tipping point in a 26,000 year cycle and we are living it right now.
As I'm sure many of you are aware of, one of the big changes happening right now is the so-called Global Warming. While Al Gore would have you believe that the weather changes are solely due to human pollution, there are much larger forces at play here. For instance, glaciers on Mars are melting yet they don't have SUVs over there! In fact EVERY planet in our solar system is experiencing 'global warming', so what's the deal? In scientific terms our Sun is getting hotter and is making our planet hotter, but in metaphysical or occult terms it also means that the frequency or vibration is rising which will also lead to the Human consciousness rising. With the higher vibration thats coming in right now, the power of thought is VERY important.
If you hold fear, anger, jealousy and other negative emotions, it will really echo back and come back on you. However if you have a clean heart, forgive the past and let go of old baggage it will be a great time. The more positive you can be the more you'll be able to get on your life path and attract positive people, positive opportunities, and positive vibes into your life. Lastly, everyone has their own path and for whatever reason, some people in this life are attracted to dark or a negative patterns. So don't hang on to those who refuse to go to the light, let them go as painful as it might be. The alternative is to play the martyr and have them pull you down with them!
Another major theme this year will be economic collapse, or a second Great Depression. I say this not in exaggeration but as plain fact. Economically the Anglo-American empire has already collapsed, the banks are ALREADY insolvent aka bankrupt but mainstream media just hasn't told you yet. By the end of the first quarter I would expect the banking system to show some serious cracks. Shortages, bank runs and financial collapse are in the cards... many of you called for Babylon to fall, we'll guess what, ITS HERE!
And like I said for a minority of people this will be a great time. As the larger corporate structures fall away many opportunities will arise for independent thinkers and small businessmen. However, for those who are totally invested in the current system, there can be no salvation because the system is already long gone, it just hasn't hit the front page of the newspapers yet. I would like to emphasize the positive here, because while it is true that financial collapse can be a scary thing, just remember its all meant to happen, it has to happen, and you all agreed to be here at this time to experience it.
For those of you who can roll with the changes and adapt to what's coming, you'll be fine. If you follow your path and start doing what you were born to do, you'll be protected and provided for. However for those who are tied to their SUVs, their ballgames, and their Starbucks lattes, good luck! That time is past, and if you try to hang on the old ways you're fighting against the stream not with it. Hard times have a way of bringing people together and making it clear what is really important, if you understand that, you'll be fine.
The best advice I can give is be positive, listen to your heart and go with the flow. As for financial advise, get out of debt, get out of US dollars and get some hard assets like gold & silver! Also the housing market won't come back anytime soon, so renting is your best bet right now.
Another theme to look for this year will be 'secrets revealed' as we are living in an age where secrets can no longer be hidden. I'm not sure what kinds of social or political scandals will come out but they'll be interesting that's for sure, especially since we're in an election cycle. The old ways will fight tooth and nail to hang on but its less of a new dark age than the death rattles of an old system being put to bed.
Yea, its heavy stuff, and pretty out there, but I think as the year progresses you'll see what I'm talking about. On a personal note I've spent many years working on myself and trying to be a better person. Years ago I was a bitter guy who held a lot of resentment and helplessness feeling stuck in my life. However, after cleaning myself out everything has turned around. My path is clear, I know what I have to do, and I know its going to be great.
In these times its important to be sure of yourself because for the times that are coming, the path won't be clear in any traditional sense. No college counselor or parent can tell you what will lead to your success (i.e. go to college, get a degree, work the 9 to 5, retire). That may have worked in the past but not for the times we are living in. Especially as turbulent as times are going to get, its critical that you live with a clean mind, a clean body and a clean heart. If you can do this, the path will become clear and opportunities will fall into place. The world can be a mess but if you're in the eye of the hurricane you won't be affected!
So that's what I'd like to leave you with as we begin this year. Remember its a start of new things, setting the trend for the next decade. Be mindful of your thoughts and your spirit, and keep your eyes open for unusual coincidences and synchronicities. If you can follow the magic, you'll meet all kinds of great people, find your career path and find meaning in your life. 2008: Heaven or Hell, its your choice.

Akaider & Hibikilla @ La Parilla in Boyle Heights
I had the great honor of showing J-reggae artist Hibikilla around LA this week, it was cool showing him around and also breaking down the history of our city. He really enjoyed hearing about the history of Japanese-Americans and other ethnic groups in LA. After all, both of my parents were born in U.S. concentration camps and my dad grew up in East Los / Boyle Heights because non-whites were restricted *by law* to ethnic ghettos! But besides the history lesson we enjoyed some great food at Viet (of Soy Cafe fame) in Atwater, La Parilla on Cesar Chavez, and Savoy in Alhambra for some authentic Hong Kong Italian fare!
Hibikilla also blessed me with a dubplate of his classic ganja tune 'Redder', he knocked out the cut with a lot of energy! Some of you might recognize the 'recording booth', its in a prominent building in Little Tokyo. Check out the session and interview here: After chillin with Hibikilla I can say he's not only a dope MC, but a solid dude as well - very conscious and good vibes! Don't sleep on his latest album 'Noukou Minzoku' its dope from beginning to end and has good messages as well. Big up to Hibikilla and Mani-Chan, we will meet again!
