what happened next? we did.
behold - the fruits of our labours, we have indeed been busy little bees. that is, if bees had only two legs each, weren't exclusively reliant on pollen and incapable of flying when sober...
FORTHCOMING MATERIAL
rather than whack off a quick 'rush job' since confirming the new lineup and spurt out a paltry two minute riff-o-rama over your pretty & expectant faces, we've decided to cancel our beer funds, call off our boat trips, get the sherry in and spend some time together in the studio making sure we write you all some decent, firm & obstreperous tunes. the 4 songs (masquerading as the 'reason & abstract' EP) are now ready to record, and we'll be doing so over the next month or two at berry street studio under the watchful ear of the reassuringly tall james dunkley (he does have ever such nice hair and a lovely car, you should see it). you can hear some of the new material, in demo form, in the video posted below.
NEW PHOTOS & MYSPACE
in the meantime, we've had some available hours to whip out a photo shoot & myspace design. the young, talented and inexplicably blonde ross wildish pointed his lens at us in a public park and it all turned out wonderfully (thanks also to donna stapley for painting our faces with pretty-dust), he also supplied some positively fantastic shots of our then immediate surroundings which you can now see incorporated into the new design of our myspace page, skillfully rendered, tweaked and pinched by adam cutler of motionless visions designs. our 'design chap from across the water' has also fashioned us a nifty new logo which you'll hopefully be seeing a lot of in the future.
PRE-PRODUCTION VIDEO BLOG
never give people like us a camera. having sifted through the hours of anatomical footage, we've finally managed to pull together enough that will provide a good idea of what we've been up to all this while and what's ahead, interlock's mart anthony has been kind enough to lend his midas touch to the editing & post production (he was responsible for the 'parasite' podcast & 'straight' video). there'll be plenty more like this to follow over the coming months leading up to the release of the EP, alongside some predictably pointless ridiculousness.
SANDWICHES
nice, aren't they? we like the cheese ones.
hal, ewan, duff, josiah & joe

i'm as pleased as punch to give the news of another of my ex-colleagues from interlock confirming a forthcoming live date.
interlock's last bass-mistress, syan, will be lending her low end rumble to none other than london's electronic-tinged metal vandals tribazik for their album launch on april 28th in central london:

the old street-based noiseniks will be releasing their album 'all blood is red' through eastworld recordings and is currently available at such places as amazon, featuring guest vocals from industrial legend jaz coleman (of killing joke fame). syan tells me she'll be playing through her now somewhat notorious warwick rig for the show and has otherwise been dallying with her own brand of programming alongside her regular appearances throughout the capital as DJ request denied.
------
and what better time would there be to update on what myself & others from the ex-interlock camp are currently up to...
HAL
the main pursuit-du-jour currently flipping my lid is talanas. this is the prog/death outfit that joe & i had set up around late summer last year, in order to flex some musical muscles and scratch some tech-metal itches, and that on the advent of the interlock split took over as our main project. we're set to record throughout may at berry street studios (the last home of interlock) with james dunkley and will shortly be launching a new myspace & series of video blogs covering the recording process. gig offers have already started rolling in with the first confirmed being fusion '09 at the elgiva theatre in september.
next up is my work with beth ryan, also featuring mart from interlock and noise:tek / bad sekta / anticulture recording artist tom whiston. beth is currently writing for her debut release through eulogy media this summer and has been performing several new songs at various venues in the UK, she's also confirmed to play fusion '09 this september.
a number of other projects are on the go including some black metal nastiness with ex members of dam & horrid face, some breakcore / noise / death metal crossover with tom whiston and something of a strictly hush-hush 'meeting of minds' with a few metal veteran / pie-eating types (cryptic isn't yet my middle name, but i'm working on it). the now award-winning signature series 7 string from roter custom guitars has seen a lot of work over the past few months, to say the least. weirdly enough, as has my gormless visage for such companies as spiral direct & attitude clothing in the likes of metal hammer & bizarre magazines.
JOE
still holding the mantle of having the single largest kit ever custom ordered in one piece by a mapex europe endorsee, joe has been honing his talents for a more organic (as in, not tied-down to a backing track!) approach for the talanas material. expect some big sounds over this summer.
CHRISTINA
since interlock's demise, christina has been fielding a wave of requests for guest vocals. her continued guest work with london-based black metal legends abgott has fulled yet further interest in the appearance of her rasps, roars & ramblings, however she's executed fair selection in her decisions and is now working with a particular few artists, not to mention developing her instrumental skills and working on her own material.
people can expect to hear christina's vocals in some pretty surprising formats over the coming months, best to stay glued to her myspace blog, needless to say it'll be bloody & brutal.
MART
joining us on beth ryan's work, mart has been part of the live set for a number of months now and has already performed at a number of beth's shows. those wishing to see the results of the infamous forthcoming ran custom 7 string guitar he has arriving some time soon this year can hopefully expect to see it at shows such as fusion '09 at the elgiva theatre in september.
following the response to his cinematographic work on the latter interlock video output (the 'straight' video & 'parasite' blog etc.), mart will also now be pursuing future audio-visual work. i'm also stoked to say that he's handling the editing & post production of the forthcoming talanas pre-production video blog.

now up - shots taken by robert marchosias late last year featuring our unmerciful gurns and an ill-placed fire exit sign, what more could you ask for? ice cream, probably. depends if you like that sort of thing. keep your eyes peeled & glued to your interwebs for news in the next few weeks on: - a pre-production / studio video blog featuring info and previews of material from the forthcoming 'reason & abstract' EP - live dates for 2009 (one of which is already up for september!) - new logo & myspace layout by adam cutler of motionless visions designs - new photos (featuring the now complete lineup) by ross wildish - fish in your toaster keep it large, TALANAS www.talanas.org

- Be prepared for a very un-metal list of everything I can currently think of that brings back the memories or built the blocks to my present musical state. I hope to add more and more as I delve further into discographies of amazing new acts - 1. Mudvayne - LD 50 Once got a copy of this from Ratboy and listened to it gor 2 hours straight in an art class at college. The art that came out of me within the next 2 hours got me a meeting with my teacher and head of year about possible councilling. I told them where they could put it and I'm now into tattooing, ha! 2. Interlock - crsis//reinvention Without this I am nowt, Cheers John. . mwah! 3. Slayer - Reign In Blood Now thats how to listen to metal and thats how you windmill to it! 4. Inswarm - The EP I toured with this band in the states and ther music has seriously changed the way I look (listen) to electronic music. 5. Biohazard - Uncivilization Pure brutallity and got me at that stage where I was draggin my knuckles about and wearing my white vests and shouting. Still love it though 6. Green Day - Dookie First bands, playing schools, still with ewan! 7. Aphex Twin - Come To Dadday Now thats scary music! allot of summers with that blearing on and confusing my parents 8. Dream Theater - Images and Words I'm a drummer, what do you expect! 9. Soulfly - Soulfly Hardcore and ethnic drumming, Love it! 10. Edguy - Rocket Ride Bloodstock, in the rain, with the moving dragon things on stage. Powertastic! 11. Burzum - Huis Ivset Tar Oss Well if you know me, then you'll know what this did to me. OH YEAH! 12. System Of A Down - System Of A Down Bonkers, I blame them! 13. Motely Crue - Shout at the devil Still one of my fave albums. Thank you Jamie for getting ot for me, must be the most often played vynll in the world ever ever ever 14. Stampin Ground Now thats a d rum break! 15. Slipknot - Slipknot This record really got me into double kicks properly. Gawd Bless 'em! 16. Rob Zombie - Hillbilly Deluxe Great stuff, always good for stomping in the rain too. But it does really irratate me the way all his films basicly have the same few songs on 17. Nirvana - Bleach played this once on a bus full of the rest of my year (7) at school and my my my that was one funny coach ride! 18. Glassjaw - Everything you ever wanted to know about science Listened to this allot at college and made me into a very moody little goth. Also got me through some weird times in my early youth 19. Nile - Black seeds of vengance Got this around the same time as LD50 and between that and this is where I rekon I get my drum style. Also used it as a kind of test to see wether I'd get on with them, so far its worked! 20. Sevendust - Home Awsome stuff, another college one but morgan rose showed me a thing or two! 21. Cynic - Traced In Air Hal showed me, I liked, I want more! 22. Sepultura - Roots Brutal and riff-tastic. This lot got me into heavier tunes and more ethnic tunes. Quite a skill 23. Queen - A night at the opera Allot of waynes world moments in my youth! 24. Skid Row - Slave to the grind Used to listen to this allot with Matt whilst getting ready to go to boys club. that and G'n'R who I don't much care for! 25. We are very sad to announce that Interlock's slot on the Rock stage at Offset this saturday will be the bands final live show. Due to various pressures within the band, a decision has been made to disband Interlock straight after the performance. We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every person for their continued support over the years. The Interlock road has been a long and interesting one. We have met some amazing people on the way and will remember many. The bands, the musicians, the Interlock Armies, the friends, the promoters, the magazines and zines, radio stations, venues, endorsers and of course, most importantly, the Fans; Those guys that have followed our exploits, van and mad ramblings. Those that have housed us, fed us and saved our arses when we've needed you most. Thank you for screaming along to our music for this long. Now you can rest your larynx. We hope that our music has given the listeners half as much pleasure as it has given the band over the years. No doubt various members of Interlock will be continuing in other projects in the future, so please check the bands official myspace page www.myspace.com/interlock for updates and announcements. Interlock has left the building... Thank you and goodnight. Hal, Mart, Christina, Joe, Syan and John.

NEW TRACKS / UK FESTIVAL DATE / NEW DRUMKIT PICS / TOUR SHIRTS / VIDEOS
NEW TRACKS
another installment of demo samples from the new album 'parasite' is now upon you. firstly we have the epic, crushing-chord heavy, kodo drum-filled track 'screaming underwater' and the balls-to-the-wall roar-athon that is 'cataclysm'. both are on the myspace & youtube pages and are not only open to ratings but downloadable too. and remember - if you're hearing it now, it's because the street teams were given it first. p0wned.
---------
UK FESTIVAL DATE - OFFSET
strawberries & cream, dark satanic mills, katie price - england, we have not forgotten you and never will. after the long, hard wait we're as relieved to confirm it as you are to hear of it: a UK date for 2008 before we set off for the US tour.

the offset festival has evolved from its previous incarnation (TMF) to become a blistering 2 day sun-soaked extravaganza, complete with 3 stages and now held in essex's hainault forest. following the success of interlock's appearance at the 2005 TMF, we're back on the bill and ready to punish so bring your teepees, bring your tipple and tiptoe down to total destruction to hear the new album before the americans do:
date: saturday august 30th 2008 venue: rock stage, offset festival, hainault forest, essex
---------
NEW MAPEX DRUMKIT PICS
as potentially the biggest erection interlock has ever sported, joe's new custom drumkit courtesy of his recent endorsement with mapex drums has earned its title 'the leviathan'. already shortened to 'the lev' by certain crass geordies, the stunning collection of saturn series shells currently holds the monicker of being the largest ever designed in mapex EU history to be played as one singular kit. as a sneak preview from the forthcoming podcast covering its arrival and setup, take a look at the monster being prepared just before leaving the warehouse:

---------
TOUR SHIRTS
do people like free stuff? does the pope shit in a catholic wood? you just don't know what you're missing.

the 'trans-atlantic tour 2007' shirt is still on sale but won't be forever, and with it the special offer of a pack containing previously unreleased tracks, videos & exclusive media. in many cases this will be the only chance anyone will have to hear these tunes. now ask yourself, at only $20 that goes straight to funding the forthcoming tours can you really, really afford not to get this? see the bio section of myspace page for purchase details.
---------
VIDEOS
having heard us, and with the offer of tasting us reserved for the next tour, the only thing you've got left to do is watch us. if you subscribe to our youtube page, you can make sure you can be some of the first to.
