Without saying it out loud but saying it out loud we are back, maybe, hopefully....

Our lives are not 'hanging' as much as a month ago & we have accepted a contract for January in FL.  Hopefully we can get back.  The only problem now is that we sold our trailer & SUV.  Oh well, we'll figure something out.  If that's the only problem I welcome it!

See you along the road!

We are not going to be able to keep performing. Thank you everyone for all the love, support, prayers & warm fuzzies over the years. We've enjoyed sharing our music with you.

July 3rd I spoke with my father on the phone at 2:45pm. July 4th our whole family was at our house minus dad. We tried his phones, went to his house..couldn't find him. At 8pm I received a phone call from him. Around 7 pm on July 3rd he was out at one of his farms working (he's 84, German & hard headed. Yes, he went out by himself.) & was putting a kerosene heater into the back of his truck . It fell onto him. He fell on his back & knocked himself out. Around 3am he awoke; it was raining. He couldn't get up, his cell phone didn't have any coverage so he pulled himself by his elbows under his truck & passed out again. He woke some time around 6am & fought to get himself up......he finally got himself up at 6pm July 4th. He drove himself an hour home & called me. My daughter & I spent the night with him, he refused to go to the hospital. Sunday morning he got up, took a shower & we went out to eat. He was shaken up of course. He wanted us to drive him back out to his farm...we got back to his house at 2:30pm. When getting out of the car he passed out, fell & we called 911.

Dad had a medium stoke, has pneumonia (or however you spell it), some degenerative skin / muscle thing & a UTI. He's not going to be able to live by himself. Thus our new road to travel.

Thanks again, we love you all!

We have arrived at our off season & this year is sure to be exciting!  We Trick or Treated through Halloween 2008 now onto Thanksgiving.  We've tried explaining to Luke & Lois that they have a little Indian blood in them.  Lois didn't like that idea AT ALL & was terrified!  Showing the Family Tree helped a little but not much.  They understood as much as a 4 & 6 year old could.  We've already started chatting about Christmas & Lois wants at least 2 of everything she sees.  EVERYTHING!  Luke only wants all the boy stuff, Lois doesn't care....she wants it ALL!  We get to have childrens joy on Christmas morning again!  Probably at 3am but ......

We're not sure what's going to happen about Great Lakes Medieval Faire & Michigan Renaissance Festival in 2009.  As it looks right now Great Lakes closing weekend is the opening weekend of Michigan...hmmmmm.  As soon as we know we'll let you know.

There hasn't been a Menagerie Music Newsletter sent for months!  Deal with it!  :)  Lisa's busy playing on my new touchscreen computer!  No really.  It will be coming....soon....really..........

Our youngest son (24) is a knight at the Loveland Castle. He has been a huge help with Luke & Lois. Tonight Luke became a Paige at the Loveland Castle!

I checked out the stage schedule for this weekend & Menagerie has a show on the big guinness stage at 2:15.  Cool!  We get to play!  Oh yeah, it will be naughty....unless someone wants to hear something else.  See you there!

Current mood:  peaceful

'SWEET DREAMS' is finished!  We lost our grandson April 2007 & have been wanting to make him a recording.....IT'S FINISHED!  We recorded an hour of songs we sing to our grandbabies.  The CD opens with 'Jesus Loves Me' (Luke & Lois) & closes with 'Hush Little Baby'.  In between is filled with Celtic songs; vocals, guitar, harp, flute & penny whistle.

We will have it with us opening weekend of Great Lakes Medieval Faire!

It's all for our little Skyler.

Sorry for the long silience!  We've been busy!

We have 20 minutes of our new recording finished!  No really!  I wouldn't kid about that!  Well, it's really hard to record with a 3, 5 & 40 year old.  Yes, we have Johnny Phoenix staying with us.  Actually he's helping out a LOT with our grandkids!  He's the only reason we now have 20 minutes of songs recorded.  The recording WILL be finished & with us at Great Lakes Medieval Faire.  The name is 'Sweet Dreams', it's for our grandson we lost last year & it's filled with songs I sing to my grandchildren.

See you soon!

We made it home Monday evening; left BARF Sunday after faire.  It was really comforting to be welcomed back.  The many warm fuzzies from all of you made it well worth being there!

Saturday of closing weekend was sunny & beautiful!  Couldn’t have been better.  Sunday....well, Sunday it rained....& stormed....& rained....& stormed.....you get the idea.  We ended up under the tent at front gate all day playing for the many people ducking the rain drops.  Around 3 in the afternoon is when the mud races in the parking lot started.  People got stuck, they were pushed out by grounds crew (who did an awesome job!), they got stuck, they got pushed out, they spun their tires throwing mud everywhere, they got stuck, yada, yada, yada.  By the end of the day the parking lot was axle deep mud.  But that didn’t stop people in their pickemup trucks thinking they could master the mountains of mud.

We had a really good time but are glad to be home.

Now we’re really trying to get back into the studio & get a new recording finished.
