I've had this song in my head all weekend. It's called "Rosehips" by a band called Michou from London, Ontario (www.myspace.com/itsnicetomichou)
I apologize for the poor quality of both audio/video.

Individual tracks from the Sampler CD can be purchased for $0.99, or you can buy the whole Sampler (three songs) for $2.95. The Bathroom EP, which has recently been discontinued, can be purchased online digitally! For only $4.95 you get all five tracks from the EP, plus a bonus track!

MP3s can be purchased by visiting the Store section on my website, www.crissicochrane.com. Be sure to provide your email address - once your payment is received, the MP3 will be sent to you via email :)

This past summer, my friends Kate Fagan and Graham Scharf (students from the Nova Scotia Community College Screen Arts program) shot a music video with me for my song "Mexico". The shoot took place in East Dalhousie near a place where I spent all of my summers growing up, and the handsome boy in the video is played by real-life handsome boy Simon Outhit (taken, ladies, by yours truly).

The video is up online now - check it out!

Hey there,
I recently spent an evening at evening playing a couple tunes for some cameras to promote the Halifax Pop Explosion and my upcoming show during the festival, and one of the videos is already up online! It's for my song Elevators. Check it out here:
The video and audio turned out fantastically, thanks to a lovely crew. Check out the video, let me know what you think, and be sure to get your ticket to see me play on October 24th at the Alderney Landing Theatre (2 Ochterloney Street) in Dartmouth, NS with Owen (www.myspace.com/mybandowen). Tickets are available online at www.ticketpro.ca.
Thank you, I'm looking forward to seeing you soon,

Hey there,

Just thought I'd let you know that I'll be playing a show at the very lovely Ste. Croix Church in Windsor (NS) next month on Saturday, November 7th! I'm enthralled because there are very few venues better for sound than churches, so make sure you don't miss it, yes?

I'll be playing with Chase Robert Ross (www.myspace.com/thedevilshalfacre) and Amber Rowe. The evening starts at 7:30. Tickets are $8 advance of $10 at the door - advance tickets can be bought at Moe's Place Music Sales (129 Gerrish St, Windsor) or call Chase at 902-402-4535.

I'll be sure to have plenty of copies of my disappearing Sampler (get it while you still can!), the last of some old Save September tote bags (ha) and some free buttons.

See you there,

Crissi

Hey there,

Lots to report! Sorry I occasionally neglect this blog. (The first place I post is always my website, www.crissicochrane.com, followed by my page and group on Facebook...)

Firstly, I just spent a lovely weekend in Fredericton half-assedly visiting my parents. I say half-assedly because I spent a grand total of under six waking hours at our actual house, and well over six hours performing live music, which was one hell of an endurance test (with lots of rewards). I got in town on Friday night via Acadian Lines which was a nightmare as usual - smelly feet and screaming kids and the whole bus is as cold as a nuclear winter, not to mention it takes half as long to just drive there in a car. Saturday morning I busked outside the Farmer's Market, went to the New Brunswick Fine Craft Festival for an afternoon set, and performed at Crumb's Cafe on King Street with Jordan Doucet and Ben Ross at a show put on by foodclothingshelter music (Luke MacDonald). Sunday morning was another set at the Fine Craft Festival, and then the trip back home in time for work this morning. I managed to get rid of a good amount of CDs. Thank you Fredericton for being so kind to me!

Also, as you may have noticed on my page, I have announced that I will be performing with Owen at the Alderney Landing Theatre during the Halifax Pop Explosion on October 25, 2009. Tickets are $20 advance through www.ticketpro.ca. Get stoked!

Today I did an interview with my friend Andrew Olsvik of Fredericton-based blog All Andrew's Friends. I dropped some hints about the new album and talked about my songwriting methods and where my inspiration comes from. To check out the interview, click here!

In addition, I should mention that I've posted a bunch of videos from the Craft Festival to Youtube. Check them out!

As I write, I'm on the bus heading home from the lovely island of Cape Breton, where I had the pleasure of playing two shows with some amazing musicians, and meeting some great people. Cape Breton is friendly and beautiful. Waking up every hour or two on this ride to find myself speeding through a deep valley by a train or looking across a body of water at the face of a cliff is absolutely stunning.
Friday night, I played at Maxwell's and Saturday at St. Alban's Church Hall. Special thanks to Alex Abbass for the St. Alban's show, to Colette Deveaux for the Maxwell's show and offering me a place to stay, and Jacob Noonan for offering his place too. Also, special thanks to my "chauffeurs" Colette, Danny MacNeil and Brett Jerrett. Couldn't have come out here without all of you!
I'll be back soon, promise :)

Hey Folks!

I'll be performing at this year's Tunes at Noon concert series on August 19, 2009 alongside Mary Stewart. The series runs from mid-July to the end of August and takes place in downtown Halifax's parade square. Shows take place three times a week, starting promptly at noon. Come on down and see me on August 19th, as a great way to start your day! (Or just a lovely event in the middle if you're not a late-sleeper.) This year's program also includes Ruth Minnikin, David Myles, Christina Martin, Ryan Cook, Steven Bowers, Rebekkah Higgs and many other great and talented musicians.

(PS - I was wondering why no one had placed an order for the new Sampler CD, and then realized that all of the buttons are broken. I am trying to work this out with PayPal, so hopefully they'll be working soon. For now, just ignore them - although they don't work anyway.)

Hey folks!

Just got a great review from Lee Levin of Knox Road Blog, a blog based out of Washington/New York. The text below comes from the article, which you can view here!

Save September (Crissi Cochrane)

Save September
is the solo singer/songwriter project from Crissi Cochrane, a Halifax, Nova Scotia native. If it seems we’ve been featuring more and more Canadians on this blog, well, it’s because we have - their music is stellar (stars), and so much of it is unknown (the two minute miracles.) Cochrane is no exception.

With a precious voice and the look of an innocent high school freshman, Cochrane makes quite an impression on even the most casual of listeners. Simply from her voice and guitar Cochrane creates a sound that relaxes the body and makes the mind feel at ease - even in difficult times. She told me that people are constantly pressuring her to get a backing band together, but she’s decided to avoid the conventional line up, and has been working with strings instead (see a video here). And how happy I am to hear this - she’s willing to make it off her own talent instead of succumbing to the pressures of becoming just another indie band with “that cute female lead” (my words by the way.)

Cochrane is currently working on pre-production for a new release, with the hopes that she’ll be on the road in support of it this fall. This release should feature some of those aforementioned strings, and well, you don’t need me to get all gooey about strings for like the thousandth time. She also has a show coming up with her all-time favorite hero Mike Kinsella (of American Football and Owen fame), which she is “pretty excited/terrified about!” I myself couldn’t be more excited for her, and I look forward to hearing the upcoming release. More details for you when they are available!

For background’s sake, her last album (which dropped in 2006) was the five song, the Bathroom EP (which was recorded over the course of ten hours in a bathroom on a laptop.) She has shared the stage with well-known musicians such as Joel Plaskett, Amelia Curran, Caroline Keating, JP Cormier, Rob Szabo, Old Man Luedecke, and The Most Serene Republic (one of my personal favorites). Here’s hoping she becomes one of those well-known musicians herself, as I expect she will based off of what I’ve heard.

Indulge in the sweetness.

Hey folks!

My friend Raphael Roter, a second year Music Arts student at NSCC, arranged parts for a string quartet of my songs "Elevators" and "Mexico" as part of a project in his program. The school then hired a quartet of Dalhousie music students to perform pieces that his class composed, so I had the honor of performing alongside these talented musicians (who were literally just seeing these scores for the first time today).

So, here they are:

Let me know what you think.
