Last week we played two shows in one evening. The first at Crash Mansion at Rock and Hard Place. It was early, and we were still in control. They have really improved the stage sound at the venue ... and for the first time at the venue we really enjoyed the onstage sound. Hope the crowd enjoyed the sound coming from the stage! It was out first gig with new bass player Bobby McCollough. He rocked ... and can sing his ass off.
After Crash we headed to Spin the Bottle, the place where we rehearse. STB founder Tad Low was throwing a party and filming bands for Concert TV. Our scheduled 1am slot got later and later as the party got rowdier and rowdier. By the time we got onstage at 2am ... we were a few sheets to the wind :) We played a blistering set (from what we recall) and the crowd were dancing and singing along. The last thing I remember is Tad coming onstage during "Running out of Feelings" and announcing that the Police had arrived and were shutting down the party ... we let the feedback of our last chords ring out and gracefully left the stage ... to share a last beer with the local cops.
how very Rock'n'roll

Through a chance meeting in cyberspace, we have been connected to one
of Japan's leading electronic artists - The Stealth. Dan has been working
on some songs for Stealth's new solo album that will be released in Japan in November. The Stealth
is a big fan of SECOND DAN, and surprised us by creating a remix of our song "Forget
to Remember" in his own unique style. Stealth calls the mix "What you
Gaze" and it is full of lush atmospherics and electro beats.
We uploaded the track to Myspace. Have a listen and let us know your thoughts. It might be coming to a dance floor near you ...

What a great weekend in New York City. The sunshine was in full force.
We had the honor of playing at the Anzac Day Festival held on the Frying Pan ... an old barge docked down at Chelsea Piers. Anzac Day celebrates and commerates the soldiers who fought for the Australian and New Zealand armies. In the Australian tradition (probably inherited from the Irish), the day is not sombre but rather a celebration of the soldiers heroism, which started on the beaches in Gallopoli.
We started our set as the sun was setting over the Hudson. We were primed to play a great set, befitting the occasion.
The crowd, led by the NY Magpies Football team, were ready to have a good time and they lifted us to new levels of performance.
We ended the set with a rousing rendition of WE CAN as images of Australian and Kiwi soldiers were projected behind us. By the end of the song we had 50 people onstage singing along.
Thanks to all who came down to the gig.
We have posted some photos in the photo section of our Myspace page. If you have any more from the show, please email them to us.
Nothing better than playing an outdoor stage. We hope we get to do it again over the summer ...

Current mood: creative
Winter finally thawed yesterday. The mercury lifted itself over 60 degrees on the thermometer for the first time in 2009. A good effort seeing as though it was hovering below the dreaded 32 earlier in the same week. If my former hometown of Melbourne can have four seasons in one day, then New York seems to at least be aiming to have them in one week.
It felt like everyone in the City crawled out of their winter hideaways on to the streets yesterday, putting on their favorite spring outfits.
It put a great smile on my face to see two New Yorkers walking in the spring sunshine proudly wearing their Second Dan t-shirts. One girl in the East Village, and one boy in Soho.
Gotta say ... they looked great ... and it put a smile on my face .
Guess we better get to work on our Summer range ...

.......................... Blender Magazine posted a review of our latest Mercury Lounge show which said:
"The music sounded great, and their energy and charisma pulled me in and made me explore their sound. They are fronted by the charming Australian-born lead singer Dan Rosen. Drummer Sonny Ratcliff hails from the mountains of Virginia and channels the ghost of Keith Moon. On lead guitar is New Yorker Adam Wolfe Lerner. And on bass is the Southern Gentleman Daniel Reisbick ..."

We all woke up this morning to the start of a new era in America. It is a truly inspiring time.
As you know, we were big fans of Obama - of his passion, and his honesty and his message. We believed in his message of " Yes, we can" ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_YkJhu_IuM&feature=related ...
and are excited this country had the confidence and belief to embrace hope and change. "Yes, we did". Particularly, for our drummer Sonny and bassist Danny, both who were raised in Virginia, it is a historic moment with a traditional red state turning blue.
America, it's good to have you back!
