We are more than honored to have the highest praise of our new record by our greatest living author Thomas Ligotti. For those unaware Thomas Ligotti has created some of the greatest nightmares in literature.
Tom says -
"I have to say that I was incredibly impressed by every aspect of New Life Behind Closed Eyes. I'm no authority, but this work seems to me the ideal of its genre. The lyrics have it all: death, blood, hell, hopelessness, the ultimate cul-de-sac of the pathetic life of humans, no moment of comprise, and sentences that kill with diamond clarity. With few exceptions, we all have to behave ourselves and do the hypocritical two-step of social existence. But at least we can escape from all that total shit when we write, or at least when we have the strength and will to write as you do and, in all immodesty, as I do.
What I like about the music is that you can't tap your foot to it. I've enjoyed different types of music that have a consistent tempo, but I've never liked monotonously hyper-rhythmic music--it's for prancing fools. The musicianship is amazing. I haven't played in quite a while, but during the guitar leads I couldn't help playing a little air guitar. Steve Caiello is a shred-master of the first order.
While I was listening to this CD, a vision came to me of the music of Unholy being played in obstetrics wards as mothers are giving birth."

About Thomas Ligotti:
Thomas Ligotti is simply one of the most masterful American writers alive today. Most would consider him an author of horror stories, but his work is unlike anything else being written in any genre. He has been favorably compared to both Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft, yet Ligotti's fiction, far from being merely derivative of any one writer, has a distinctiveness that is singular both in its voice and its quality. Mr. Ligotti's work has been internationally acclaimed. His latest collection, The Nightmare Factory, won both the 1997 Bram Stoker Award and the 1997 British Fantasy Award for best anthology/collection of the year; The Red Tower also won a Bram Stoker Award for best novella of the year. Ligotti's latest novella, My Work Is Not Yet Done, won both the International Horror Guild and Bram Stoker Awards recently (May and June '03 respectively). Thomas Ligotti was born on July 9, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan. He lived his childhood and most of his adult life in that area, graduating from Wayne State University in the early 70's. For the past twenty years Ligotti worked as an Associate Editor at Gale Research (now The Gale Group), a publishing company that produces compilations of literary (and other) research in the country (their Contemporary Authors series, for instance, can be found in the reference department of institutions of higher learning throughout the USA). Most recently, Ligotti quit his job at the Gale Group and moved to the Tampa area in Florida.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
UNHOLY unveils new song, announces new album release date and upcoming tour with Earth Crisis!
Los Angeles, CA – March 12th, 2009 – The Syracuse, N.Y. quintet UNHOLY whose "thrash-tinged metallic stomp" (Outburn) and "muscular, face-collapsing bursts of energy" (Metal Maniacs) have earned critical acclaim will release their Prosthetic Records debut, New Life Behind Closed Eyes, on May 12th. The new track Seeker Immortal off the upcoming album New Life Behind Closed Eyes (recorded at More Sound Studios[Ed Gein] in Syracuse) is currently streaming on the group's MySpace page.
Pre-order packages are now available in the Prosthetic webstore.
New Life Behind Closed Eyes -- the follow-up to the group's 2007 debut, Blood of the Medusa (Lambgoat Records) -- sees new vocalist Billy Price paint a scathing portrait of mankind's failures and shortcomings. The album's concept, written by guitarist Jonathan Dennison, revolves around an end-time narrative of the final days of humanity delivered by its own hand. Richly detailed artwork furthers the album's unsettling mood, but ultimately, it's the music within -- a very heavy take on the northeastern metal sound, with strong riffs, intense vocals and sharp soloing -- that makes UNHOLY impossible to ignore.
“We've poured a lot of blood into this new record and hope this will be a soundscape to your nightmares. The aggression and energy of UNHOLY has truly been captured in New Life Behind Closed Eyes. This record is for people who are looking for something more in heavy music. Extreme music fans old and new prepare to get your faces shredded off!" - Guitarist Jonathan Dennison
UNHOLY were recently confirmed as support for Earth Crisis' spring U.S. tour, which kicks off May 2nd in Fredericksburg, VA @ KC's (ARMAGEDDON FEST). The group will also support label mates All That Remains in Syracuse on April 15th and perform at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival on April 18.
"We're more than excited to go on the road with such a genre defining band as Earth Crisis, beyond great friends they've been a part of our lives since day one" comments Jonathan Dennison.

Currently writing material for the band's second full-length record, the forthcoming effort will be the follow-up to the band's debut, 'Blood Of The Medusa,' which saw a June 2007 release through Lambgoat Records.
"We're really excited to share our future with Prosthetic Records, I think we'll fit well with their roster of already great bands," UNHOLY guitarist Jonathan Dennison says.
