Thanks for considering the Brass Monkey Saloon! Please note that we only book local Baltimore/DC area bands. If you're thinking about playing a show here, please carefully read through the following, as it should answer most any question you might have.
1. AGE LIMITATIONS. Evening shows are strictly 18 and over after 9pm, however we can book all-ages bands earlier in the evening, 7pm to 9pm. All band members and fans need to bring ID. We accept only state or government issued ID, such as drivers license, MVA issued ID card, passport, or military ID.
2. TICKETS. For all night shows, we require the bands to buy 50 tickets for a total of $35, to pre-sell before the show. Most bands sell these for $5 each, but you may do with them what you want including giving some away. We don't keep track of them, and you keep all the money you make from selling them. The important thing is that a big crowd comes out to see your band, and these tickets can be a valuable promotional tool. It's easy to make decent money playing at the Brass Monkey. For example, if you sell 50 tickets at $5 each, your take is $250. If you bring out 50 people over 21, your $35 ticket fee will be refunded to you.
3. DOOR PRICES. For anyone without advance tickets, the door price is $7 for over 21, and $12 under 21 years old. Your band will get $5 of this for anyone without a ticket who pays in your band's name.
4. LOAD-IN/SET LENGTHS. Load in time is 8pm, unless you make other arrangements. For most shows set length is 45 minutes, but if you want to play longer (or less) this can often be worked out.
5. SHOW DATES. We have night shows every Friday and Saturday night. We also have shows on holidays such as St Patrick's Day, Fat Tuesday, Halloween, Thanksgiving eve, and New Year's Eve.
6. EQUIPMENT. We provide a PA, mics, cables, and a Sheffield certified sound engineer.
7. RANDOM THINGS. We are a cash only bar. Tickets and drinks can only be paid for with cash (or check, if more than 10 days before the show). You may bring food, but NO outside drinks at all. We provide free bottled water while you play.
