TAKING OVA THE STREETS!
Current mood:Guerilla

Last sunday me and my crew, which consisted of Dj Vadim,

Lil Ste Keyz, Pugs Atomz, Paz and myself...

took over the streets of Brick Lane in London...

Guerilla styleeee!! armed with our own sound system, two

mics, a keyboard, and of course our impeccable styles lol.....

we serenaded the good folks of East London.

I looove to do this kinda thing. It's so refreshing. inspiring.

and i love the fact that you are performing for people who

might not have a clue who you are, so you are kinda on a

mission to win them over to your side.

Like you're recruiting your souljahs of love & light!

Plus the crowds keep changing! so it's all always new faces

you're rockin for, which keeps you on your toes u know.

And you can see the excitement in peoples eyes even

before you start...they are gathering. And once we set it

off...it's on!! the party starts...right there on the streets.

i get lost in it. i could be performing in an arena for

all i know.

It's a challenge. And i love it!

A lot of smiling faces though...pure beauty!!

The amazing homey Paz once again documented our

adventures. Loving his photos! And so did the fresh

looking Markus that could be hiding a rabbit in his hat,

who i met years ago in london when he took a picture

of me outside of Plastic People, not knowing who i was,

but later found me on the internet haha... and followed

my moves till i saw him again on Brick Lane...which was

pure bliss. He got so involved and literally filmed our

whole busking session on his iphone! His photos are

dope too!!

After the session, i disappeared into the night...yeah i've mastered the power of vanishing

into thin air haha...anyways i saw the movie Antichrist...A film by the man who said "Basically,

I'm afraid of everything in life, except filmmaking." which is kinda disturbing in itself.

But i dig Lars von Tries, and the movie was shot beautifully... but there were some scenes that

made me almost walk out. almost. ouch!!

Great night nonetheless... = )

Been going to the movies a lot lately, Harry potter almost made me fall asleep booo. transformers

was a lil disappointing since i thought the first one kicked ass, the hangover was a funny

movie though. Bruno was mental, not as good as borat in my opinion. i loved Milk, sean penn

is the fuckin man. i want to see the new audrey tatou film sooo bad...love her!!

And the new Almodovar!! ohweee....

Anyways...this post ain't about movies hahaah it was about busking...so yeah! be spontaneous

and bust a move or a groove on the street yall...it takes one person to start a party ; )

SPACE IS THE PLACE...

...And we landed safely in our Mothership in the middle of Hoxton!!

They've truly captured the essence of last weeks shenanigans... When me and my girl DJ That Fucking Sara tore the house down at Hoxton Loft Society in da London town...

The Vibez TV crew came down to interview us and film the show.

My girls were in the house styling it. The boys were looking cute.

The bar was emptied...and the moves were on!! True house party style.

My outfit was Grace Jones / Sun Ra inspired... hope i made them proud and hope ya dig it ; )

Oh yeah i am wearing a dress on my head by the way...haha i can turn anything into anything i been told...a bit of last minute sewing and safety pinning it before rocking is always a good look!!

Oh yeah my homey Ranx bought a bus ....haha ...a double decker...which was just standing back stage chillin...

now that's fly...always been a dream...turn that ish into a portable sound system and blast through europe!!

ADVENTURES IN PARADISE

Greetings...

i'm listening to Minnie Ripperton and eating melon in the sunshine,

the grass is green and fluffy, nature around me is smiling...thanks Mother Earth for this moment ; )

(there was a period in my life when i could not get

out of bed without listening to this album first)

...i've had an amazing past few days and decided to stay off the internet, as i was

enjoying some real life contact instead...and it was looooooovely! lol

Before that i was gonna write this whole thing about being sick of people hiding behind their

computer screens writing silly subliminal messages hoping you will read them and actually give

a shit LOL haha. but i got myself some good loving, and my mind is in a great place right now.

so yeah i can't do it no more LOL

Just wanna apologize for being off the radar for a minute! got A LOT of catching

up to do... Plus I got sooo many stories to tell...i feel like i'm a walking adventure!

hahaha if you're lucky i might share some of em ; )

some people in my circle (who i loooove tremendously) say i've become wild

and unpredictable lol i dont mean to hurt nobody.....i am just being a free spirit,

doing what i wanna do. yall should try it, it's extremely refreshing ; )

I've finally moved into my new flat....and i love it!!

It has personality, it's little, and it's cute...hmmm sounds kinda like me? LOL

Having breakfast on the balcony is the shit. Taking long baths in my big ass tub is dope too!!

And i love my neighborhood. so many restaurants and bars, and a 24/7 organic supermarket

...wow...i somehow always end up living next to one, i had one next to my spot in Brooklyn, and

also in my previous flat. = ) thank you to the universe!!

I'm already in trouble with the neighbors though hahaha, i thought it was cause i was playing

the music too loud, but it was actually cause i borrowed two chairs from the stairways, when i

had friends over for lunch, and didn't have enough seats yet to seat my company hahaha and

every floor in my building has a lil chairs that NO ONES uses...!!! so i thought are they really gonna

miss em if they gone a few hours? LOL

well obviously yes, they left a note on my door and everything hahah how they knew it was

me i have no idea...

anyways...

i've become a Belly dancing Pizza Maker... ; )

or uhum....maybe not?

But I been rocking some real good shows lately, and i got a few more lined up for the summer.

i been turning down a lot of gigs where i live though, (sorry, sorry) cause without sounding big

headed, i know i can rock the hell out of any crowd but i honestly dont want to become that MC

that rocks every single party that becomes available to them. I've become too lucky to be in a

position where i can be picky hahaha and i can remain exclusive so people dont get sick of my

ass hahaha gotta keep em on their toes baby ; )

BUT i am hosting one of my favorite parties this coming thursday ---> RAP HISTORY in Berlin!!

The year is 1998!!!

The day after that i'm off to Neuchatel (12 of June) to rock at my girl Ngoc Lans Party.

And the day after that i jump on a train to Strasbourg to rock at the Contre Temps festival.

And when i'm NOT doing shows i will be locked up in the studio finishing a very promising project!!

Can't wait to share it and shock the world with it hahaha

I'm working on so much new stuff.....i'm looking for a muse!

...holding auditions now ; ) LOL

...Guess my favorite color, then craft rhyme schemes out of thin air...Intrigue me, inspire me, indulge me...

i'm actually itching to start painting...maybe when my mom comes over to visit me, she can bring

some canvases over, she is a great painter!!

Anyways...Here's some flicks of me rocking with my girl Dj Ngoc Lan at a recent show...

i'm in the south of france at the moment, it's blazing... and i'm rocking my heart out.

But it wasn't easy getting here lol

As always there's another drama with me featuring an airport haha... i'm just not meant to

be flying, i am meant to take trains. it's so much more peaceful!!! and better for the environment,

and it suits me way better hahaha anyways... I was heading out of berlin, and yeah pretty much

left everything to the last minute, i blame it on the fact that i was just enjoying myself too

much lol but it could also be down to my overly laid back confused self, but i like the first one better...

anywways... i get to the airport and i can no longer check in...

no more flights to where i'm heading, which is LYON..so ....bang, taxi to the next airport.

there is one flight left...!!

And luckily i was accompanied by an angel, who made sure everything worked out.... ; )

Yeah eventually i get on that plane, fly to zurich, then Lyon, get picked up at the airport by the

promoter and head straaaaight to the venue and on stage... bang, rock it hard!! float on the vibes

of that amazing crowd! and all the drama is long forgotten, only the good vibes stay with me!

Everyone is happy!!

A girl gives me this dark purple ring after the show as a thank you. Purple being my favorite color,

i sleep with the ring on, only to wake up looking like a Picasso Painting

The party was so good...so good that i lost a shoe!! hahaha

Yeah once again one of my shoes goes missing? do my feet smell? why do they decide to make a run

for it? lol... nah i have cute nice smelling feet...maybe they just jealous of all my other shoes??

Yeah it was a nice gold pair, and now i only got one shoe left... = (

lucky i brought an extra pair for these shows...

a few hours later, minus a shoe...i take the train to Marseille.

A really nice journey actually, you pass a lot of graffiti on the way. i have a book called The Cleft

to accompany me on my journeys, it's weird, but a girl i love gave it to me to read...so now i'm here

haha reading about life before men existed? lol

Marseille is sweaty...i fall asleep at soundcheck... the show in the evening is the BOMB!

so much love...

yo, who got my shoe, dont put that ish on Ebay...aight!! lol

And the funniest thing...

After the soundcheck i went to the hotel and had some room service, and the guy who delivers

the food to me, says "could i take a photo please" ...i am kinda surprised, as i thought he would

be asking me to sign a bill or something of that sort, but no..all he wants is a photo, huh??

fast forward a few hours...and there is the same guy, in the front row of my show...but i dont

recognize him as he is not wearing his "hotel clothes" anymore hahah

Turns out the photo he took was actually for his lovely girlfriend. She was making a graffiti piece

for me at the venue to show me how much she digs me! it was such a beautiful gesture.

and yeah i was extremely flattered. Not to mention i loooove her style!! check her out on

oh la la i have sweet dreams and the next day i travel to a small village...once again on train.

This is where i am now...and you know what...it's a like a lil paradise here.

I'm at a villa, out side of Nice, it has a pool, a bar and the stage is in the garden...they're blasting

out reggae...super dope people everywhere. I've been chillin by the pool all day swallowing the sun.

The dopest part is i'm also stayin at the villa!!!

So from my bedroom i can actually look out at the growing crowd. And go down have a boogie,

and stroll upstairs to prepare for my show whenever i want to.

i love when the hotel is close to the venue...even better when the hotel, IS the venue hahaha...

They have two big mamas cooking the food for all the people, and they got their own wine... yeah

it's an all over amazing vibe here!!!

Ok i gotta get on stage soon, let me go open my airwaves, get that honey poppin, and slip into my new

yellow dress that i bought today at a market outside of yesterdays hotel...

Power to the people...we should all be equal!!

i don't believe it, on this trip i have no more shoes left haha...well i kinda do...but i cant exactly wear em.

u see...i kicked off my shoes (the last pair i had with me) during last nights show, and one went missing in the crowd hahaha...

so now i'm left with a different shoe for each foot...which would've worked, if one wasnt a high heel, so yeah i been walking with a major swaggadelic pimp walk... lol

ATTACKED!!!

MY BICYCLE ATTACKED ME!!!!

i was just standing there chillin, talking to my girl

and my bike just threw itself at me with full force.

i told it off!! But then throughout the day this nasty

thing developed, it's pretty amazing actually all the

colors it has, my icam can't fully capture it.

ok fair enough i bruise quite easy, but c'mon bike, i treated

u with nuthin but love, hmmmm we might be done...

= (

oh yeah in other news...i am rocking Bristol tonight at the 02 Academy

with Ghostface Killah!

The London show was dope. He is like a gentle giant (at least he was to

me) a huuuuge man with a baby face and a huuuuge moody entourage.

lol

But can i let you in on a little secret???

After the show soooooo many people came up to me and told me how

they thought my show was doper than his, even from people who had

never heard of me before. They said, they had been disappointed in Ghost,

but that i had made it worth them paying that mad expensive ticket cause

i had rocked so hard lol

GHOSTFACE KILLAH SHOWS!!

So who do u think went to the airport today

to catch a flight without their passport?

ME!!!!

My bag went on the plane, but not me, the flight even

waited while my homegirl was in a taxi with my passport,

but we still didn't make it!

Does this type of shit only happen to me? damn next

available flight not till tomorrow. i'm gon be a hot mess for

the Ghostface Killah show tomorrow night in London!!!

Oh yeah i'm doing the UK Ghostface tour...would love to see ya!!

I've rocked with with both GZA and Method Man in the past and

now it's time for Ghostface...

sheeeeit i'm like the unofficial Wu member!! LOL

THIS WEEKEND

I've been so lucky to have had the opportunity to visit sooo many different countries around the world...already!!
But this weekend i'm going somewhere i never been before... one of Europes smallest countries:
LUXEMBOURG!

R.I.P AWER
Current mood:disbelief

When i went to Paris to do my first solo show, Awer was the first one to show
me love! He had seen me grow up through out the years, and as an artist he was excited
for me and believed in me.
I still remember it very vividly when he took me to the side at the radio show that he had
arranged for me to do right before my live show at the club Batofar that same evening.
He looked me in the eyes as he told me "i am proud of you Yarah, this is only the
beginning for you, you will go far"
We hugged! Little did i know this would be the last time i would see him.

To one of the greatest forces within the Hip Hop Community in Paris!!

Rest in Peace my Brotha Awer, may you rock heaven like you rocked earth...

Eternal Love for your spirit, your whole family and the Hip Hop Résistance crew.
If i come to Paris again, i will dedicate my show to you!!

Another one of those adventures...
Current mood:exhausted...

It's 10.30 am
I just got back to Austin...

I rocked Dallas yesterday or shall i say earlier today as i haven't been to bed yet... fuck...

Anyways....

...everytime i go to dallas i hear the theme music for Dallas the Tv Series. with J.R
in my head!!! For some reason that song always got me, my parents tell me that when i was lil toddler
and Dallas came on tv, i would crawl over there and start dancing infront of it in my diapers hahaha

I grew up loving Dallas (the tv series), and yeah now also loving the city in real life hahaah

The first time i came to Dallas a few years ago, i had to call my parents, and i just said, guess where i am
and started humming the song. da da da....dadadadada...du da ...da da...da dada... hahahah

And yeah they knew.

So me and my homey Chino drove down there...leaving Austin around 6pm
had some late breakfast on the way, i asked for pancakes. but knowing
what american pancakes are like, i asked for the kids portion. Half of it!!!

And true that shit was hard for me to devour. it was still MASSIVE, and they were gonna give me 3 of them!!!
so glad i asked for just one!!! i asked for the peach topping. so i was expecting some fresh peach slices.
but once the plate arrived, i was like.. "WHere is the pancake?" it was completely covered in this peach sauce..
you couldn't even see the pancake lol.... i ate it though!! but half loving it and half hating it hahahah

then we got back on the road again....

The Slip inn the spot i was gonna rock, was literally a hole in the wall type of spot.
But it had a great vibe.

After soundcheck we rolled through to another spot which was more of a jiggy club,
and we went to meet Chinos homey Chris who was gonna hook me up with some gear, oouh la la...
Guess who got some purple trainers??!!!
HOLLLAAAA!!! and some other goodies i haven't even seen yet.

When i was walking through the club i had at least 3 people come up to me and they were like
shit you're that girl from Myspace lol Yarah Bravo... i know you....and i'm like well if you know me, you
should also know i'm playing down the road hahhaha and you're at the wrong club hahahah

Anyways...we bounced back to the spot i was gonna rock...
and they had made this lil area for me, with a carpet, and some red velvet
ropes and shit...where they said i was gonna be..that was my area to rock hahaha... very nice touch!!! lol
But since they had a cordless mic, i like like a wild animal can not be confined to small spaces.
and had to use the entire bar as my stage hahaha...i think i spent most of my time on top of the actual bar.

Hahahaha

The kids who brought me down to Dallas were the bomb!!! Such hip hop heads, and all over good peeps.
Big shout out to Rec Shop. Islam, Julio, Asahi sheeeeit... the whole crew... oh prince ramsay who i finally met,
who we been speaking on myspace for a while, and he was bigger than i thought he would me, but then i'm smaller
then everyone thinks i'll be so yeah it's all good hahaha...

Oh while i was signing cd's this girl came up and wanted a tag on her...and got her chest out and shit...oh yeah nice chest
by the way lol. and yeah i tagged all over it hahaha...it was like a piece of art!!

After the show we bounced to hang out at their recordstore, appropriately named Rec Shop... it was super dope!!!
I picked out a dope T-shirt for my homey Chino, with a boombox on it. And i couldn't decide
what to pick for my self. since i am a boom box fanatic, i wanted to go for the boom box one too.
but there was this other ill one with the dope logo "STOP SNITCHING" and it really caught my eye.

So yeah I'm gonna turn it into a dress i think!!! it's dope....

So yeah we hung out there for ages, and we got some dope gear, caps and shit....

Afterwards we went to get some food, this was like 4 in the morning. they had this jawn, with fresh
organic type food open all night. so we rolled through there. i had the crepes, but yeah they
were nothing like crepes in france. Shit the french rule the crepes!!! And it came with two big ass potatoes
who islam kept calling his balls. shit suffice to say i wasnt eating them lol

Sooooo as every adventure has a downfall...so does this one.

As we left the spot, said our peace's....it's like 5am now....
Me and Chino are driving back to Austin... cause we wanna wake up there instead of in dalllas, so we can
go and pick up my passes for SXSW early etc.... Chino is a souljah! i know i get on his nerves
already hahahah but i loooooooooooove him!!!!

So yeah 45 min into our journey...i'm like...WHERE IS MY PHONE!!!!

Yep that shit was gooooone. = (

we trying to call everyone we hung out with from chinos phone, and yeah by then everyone had already passed out.
The phone is nowhere to be found, we called the restaurant, the waitress who served us is not there no more
......she pretty much the only one who could have it. unless i dropped it walking out of the spot or something....

So yeaaah tomorrow, or shall i say later today...i gotta go figure out this phone situation.

Aaarrrgggh what's wrong with me??

Ok i gotta sleep for 2 hours, then i gotta go pick up my SXSW pass and schedule...
then hopefully come back to the crib for another nap.

I am rocking at Deuce Radio.... broadcasting straight from the Fader / Levis party with my man Chino from 5-7pm
B.o.B suppose to rock right after...
then if i can get a ride, i'm trying to roll to Houston to open up for Camp Lo. If not i'm staying in Austin, cause yeah
now it's really when it's all kickin off....

sheeeit like it hasn't already hahahaha

but the truth is i should really just stay in bed....cause i was getting waaaaaay better...and yeah now i'm kinda back to
square one with my cough...fuckity fuck fuck....
yeah i know i know...i got my self to blame...blah blah... but i also gotta eat, and get paid, so yeah i can't be canceling shows
left and right... and that good folks is the bottom line.... = )
