Greetings, HDNB fans!  David Leigh here, HDNB's drummer and lead singer.  I want to say just how excited I am at all of the friends who have joined our site - we couldn't be luckier! My childhood hero Colin Hay (Men at Work) is one of the most recent additions. I met Colin in 2000 and told him that he was the reason I started playing music in the first place - he and Jerry Speiser (MaW's drummer). Men At Work was such an influence on my life and playing. I still listen to a bit of Men At Work every single day! I really would love to encourage folks to take a good listen to an old hero. Check out Colin Hay's website at www.myspace.com/colinhay

My greatest dream would be to guest appear on stage with Colin to play drums backing him up for Down By The Sea off that first Men At Work album Business As Usual.

.: Our thanks to Vue Weekly and writer Steven Sandor.  In his weekly Enter Sandor column for 21 February 2007, "YouTube beats the boob tube in music videos", he discussed how local independent bands can make good use of YouTube to feature videos of rehearsals and performances of  individual songs.  He writes:

One thing that really caught my attention was Edmonton experimental act Hardy Drew and the Nancy Boys' seven-minute rendition of their track "Heavy Early," which shows the band getting set up and ready to play, then launching into a not-particularly-pop-friendly song. Basically, this would have zero chance of being played on the nation's music station. But, on YouTube, the band can find an audience—maybe even more so than on MySpace.

"It's absolutely the future of video," says Hardy Drew drummer and songwriter David Leigh. "It allows you to sidestep some of the restrictive requirements that MuchMusic has. If you see, at the start and end of the video, there's a lot of bullshit there, which captures what it's like to play in a band. You are waiting while the band tunes, just doing nothing, then you play. Something like that would never air on MuchMusic."

Thanks again, Steven, for the coverage, much appreciated - HDNB.

.: We've uploaded another tune to the site.  Please check out That's All Right, I Don't Mind, another novel, multi-time-signatured song from the delightfully twisted musical genuis, Mr David Leigh.  David, btw, is recovering from some minor surgery, so send him lots of love!

.: Please have a listen to the newest tune uploaded to the HDNB site, Heavy Early.  Let us know what you think.  It's another one of David's interesting, multiple-time signature explorations into previously uncharted sonic territory!

.: Thanks to everyone who attended our gig last night, especially for coming down in the sub-sub-sub zero weather - it was somewhere in the vicinity of -35C with the windchill.  HDNB played two sets of 14 original and three cover songs to a small but appreciative crowd.  A few photos are now available on Randy's Flickr site.  Our thanks to the staff of The Fox for hosting the show!
