Last Angel Golden Horseshoe Appeal: Please help us to raise funds for our resident ponies. Plus there are currently three available stables at the yard where the ponies are kept, (more will be available soon) three stables that could be home to three more horses/ponies, but we desperately need funds to help us pay for the daily care, veterinary care, trimming costs, feed, worming etc. So, if anyone can donate a Golden Horseshoe to the value of £2.00/$4.00, then it would help us so much to pay for these rescues!

Last Angel Equine Rescue needs your help to be able to offer rehabilitation to more unwanted horses and ponies, and we need your help now. Unfortunately, many horse owners either do not wish to, or cannot, care for a horse for its natural lifetime. Many owners want a horse that can be ridden. If the horse is no longer useful to them, the horse is disposed of. Or, they may simply find that keeping the horse is too expensive.

As the credit crunch takes hold, Sanctuaries in the UK are full to beyond bursting point and there are a growing number of reports of horses being dumped across the country. There has been a recent report, for example, by Equine Market Watch from a horse auction in the UK where owners whose horses were not sold at the sale, simply drove off and left their horses behind. Quote from EMW report:
"As the economic crisis deepens so the value of horses and ponies ending up in auctions declines alarmingly. EMW Sanctuaries learned today that at a certain midlands auction on saturday ponies were being unload and left depsite not being sold. The owners simply driving off and leaving them.The meat lorries were loaded to the hilt and values were such that many simply did not raise a bid...with the new crop of foals due in the next few months the buyers are just not there. Our advice to those who may be thinking of breeding is this, DON'T!"

Although Last Angel Equine Rescue is currently a non-profit organisation, our aim is to become a registered charity. We believe this to be the most beneficial step for our organisation, and therefore the most beneficial step for horses and ponies in need of rescue and rehabilitation. We are in the process of applying for charitable status but in order to do this we need people to join our board of trustees. I've stupidly decided to get a tattoo to raise money for Last Angel Equine Rescue. This might not seem like a big deal to all those who have one already, but I'm not great with pain and I'm scared of needles, so it is a big deal for me!!!

Please send to everyone you know, blog it, bulletin, and let's get as many signatures as possible for Regina, this will send a VITAL message to Spanish authority figures that animal cruelty is a crime and must be addressed as such!

Regina was a stray dog waiting to be adopted in the Carcaixent Refuge (Spain). Late at night criminals entered the refuge and sexually abused and tortured her. She was found dead by refuge workers in the morning.

We demand that the council in Carcaixent (Spain) actively investigate and punish those responsible for this crime and also take the necessary steps to prevent animals from being mistreated like this in the future.

Justice for Regina!

Regina era una mastina de cinco años que fue recogida en el refugio de Carcaixent (Valencia) a la espera de una adopción. Desgraciadamente, encontró la muerte ya que unos individuos irrumpieron en el recinto, robaron varios perros y a Regina la torturaron, abusaron sexualmente de ella introduciéndole objetos en el ano y la apalearon hasta la muerte.

Pedimos al ayuntamiento de Carcaixent y organismos que correspondan que pongan todos los medios posibles para que actos tan brutales e inhumanos no vuelvan a suceder y que se persiga y condene severamente a los culpables.

Regina sufrió una tortura difícil de imaginar y no merece que su caso sea olvidado. Pedimos justicia para Regina y para todos los animales que sufren maltrato y abandono.
