Theron is a vampire walking though time and avoiding love on every hand. Who would think that love would find him when he least expects or wants it?

Theron Ambrose is a vampire. He hunts and drinks blood in order to live and walks through life without becoming involved or falling in love. He has been avoiding relationships and doesn't want to chance giving his heart to anyone because it could mean his own end. Then one night quite by accident he literally runs into love and can't avoid it any longer. Can Theron resist the tempting package of Leah presents or will he wind up unveiling his true nature and showing her his dark world.

Leah Nolan is hit by love in a big way, actually she's hit by Theron's car, but it does give her an intro into his strange and unusual world. There is something very different about Theron that Noah just can't place. He is obviously hiding something and Leah is intent on finding out just what his secret is. How will she react when she finds out that Theron is an immortal vampire and wants to spend the rest of eternity with her? Even more important is can she give up her mortal life for an immortal one?

If you are a fan of vampire tales then you certainly have to pick this book up. It gives a different aspect on the whole vampire scene and will intrigue and dazzle you. Theron is an awesome character and has a darkness about him that will pull you in. Leah is a mystery and has her own story that is slowly unveiled as the story unfolds. There is a gothic feel to this tale and Kelly Wallace combines it perfectly with the suspense and desire that develops between Theron and Leah.

She heard a knock on the door then bolted upright when it opened. There Raif stood with nothing on except a smile and a towel wrapped around his waist. A very small towel. Her knees gave out and she fell back onto the bed.

"Do you mind!"

He raised his eyebrows at her in innocence. "I knocked."

"What if I hadn't been decent?"

"Well, that would have been real embarrassing now, wouldn't it?"

Sarah growled.

Raif chuckled.

He was one sexy man, every muscle in his body taut and perfectly defined. She let her slow gaze take in every inch of him, from his silky smooth chest and firm abdomen, over the concealing towel, and down to his long, sinewy legs. Even his feet were perfect. Paul could never look half as delicious, even if he worked out for a decade. She cringed at the thought. How disloyal of a fiancée could one be? She had compared Paul to Raif at least a dozen times since arriving here this afternoon and always found Paul lacking.

"What's wrong? Never seen a man's body before?" He grinned at her.

"Of course, I have!" She forced herself to look away from the luscious sight and went back to the task of brushing her hair, trying to act as if he had no affect on her. She knew it wasn't working though as her hands trembled and she heard Raif's soft laugh at her reaction.

The faint rustling of material drifted to her ears, and she wondered what he was doing. Cautiously turning her head in his direction, she caught the last glimpse of his naked behind as he slipped into a pair of forest green silk pajama bottoms.

"Lord, don't you have any modesty?" she asked.

"Not a shred," was his snappy reply.

Sarah's eyes narrowed. Oh how that man infuriated her! But her irritation quickly dissipated as she acknowledged to herself that ninety-percent of her frustration was due to the fact that she found him so damned attractive.

She knew she had to keep reminding herself this was very temporary and she would be leaving by next week. Keeping that in mind, she would be less tempted to do something stupid, like crawl into bed with him.

Anyway, what would she do with a man like that if she ever got her hands on him? He was extremely overconfident and was likely a selfish lover. Probably demanding total compliance and satisfaction from the woman he was with, yet offering none in return.

Realizing where her brain was taking her, she tried to lead it down a safer path. Instead, she laid the brush in her lap and played with fire.

"What do you want me to do with these?" On her finger she twirled a black pair of briefs with gray trim that had been lying on the bed when she first came in. "Sleep with them?"

Rubbing the excess water from his hair, he stopped to see what she was talking about and came right back at her. "Hey," he shrugged, "you wanna sleep with my jocks, go ahead." He threw the towel onto the floor then proceeded to creep across the bed on his hands and knees, looking like a tiger cornering its prey, with Sarah caught in the depths of his hungry eyes.

"'Course I always heard that sleeping with a man is a whole lot better than sleeping with his skivvies," he purred.

Sarah was rendered immobile as he crept closer, her blood surging so hard and fast she thought she'd black out. His eyes were smoky olive in the soft light of the lamp at her side. His lips were slightly parted. She just knew he was going to kiss her. Try as she might, she couldn't work up any fight to force him away.

They were now nose-to-nose, Raif's smoldering gaze boring into her own. Sarah's lids drifted shut and a small sigh of surrender passed through her lips. Just one kiss won't hurt…

Taking the object in question away from her, Raif proceeded to shoot her in the arm with the elastic waistband, slingshot style.

Sarah yelped and her eyes flew open. With the palm of her left hand she rubbed the stinging area. He got her again! How that man exasperated her. "Damn! Are you always so…so…"

"Spunky?" He flashed straight, white teeth at her as he got off the bed and stood up.

She should have felt spurned but didn't. All she felt was extreme relief and slight disappointment at not having been kissed. "That wasn't the exact word I was looking for," she said dryly, rolling her eyes, "but it'll do for now. Until I think of a more suitable word."

Raif stood in the doorway, a smile teasing one corner of his mouth. "Don't think too hard, I might not like what you come up with."

Sarah forced away the urge to laugh for the tenth time this day. Instead, she fought for a frown and won. "I'm sure you wouldn't." She switched off the lamp.

Raif chuckled softly in the darkness. "Sleep tight, peaches." And he was out the door.

With a sigh at her unexpected and very discomfiting predicament, she turned to her side, trying to will herself to sleep, as tomorrow would no doubt be a hectic day. Housework, cooking, children. And she had assured Raif she could handle it all. What would she do when Jenny came to stay? She'd never made a bottle or changed a diaper in her life.

She closed her eyes tightly. She wouldn't think about tomorrow. Trouble was, it left her mind wide open for all thoughts of sexy Raif Manning to seductively slip in…and stay there.

Sarah and Raif are definitely opposites, but they clash in such humorous and sexy ways! Cowboys Make Better Lovers can be purchased through Linden Bay Romance. In fact, you can purchase it right

4 ½ out of 5 readings

PI Vincent Marcelli's first kidnapping case has dead-ended. He's desperate enough to seek the help of psychic Julie Simmons. He pictures her as an old woman with warts but when his doorbell rings he finds "a pretty little nymph with a warm, genuine smile that almost melted her hard criticism of her kind."

After a traumatic case, Julie stopped using her psychic abilities to help solve crimes and started teaching. She's taking this case because of Vince. She's had her eye on the divorced ex-cop for a long time.  "He is magnificent. Gorgeous. And Julie wanted him. Bad."

Sparks ignite between Julie and Vince. Vince fights it, but as they work together to save a small boy from a kidnapper his resistance melts.  Will they find the child in time?  And will "relationship shy" Vince stay with Julie once the case is closed?

Julie and Vince are wonderfully engaging characters.  I found it intriguing to see macho, protective Vince bowing to feisty Julie's psychic talents without losing one drop of his masculinity.  Believe me, Vince is a hottie. The love scenes are steamy, the romance sweet and compelling. The suspense element isn't strong until close to the end but when it comes into play it is fast and intense. Invisible Evidence was an enjoyable read that I would recommend to anyone who loves a charming love story.

Theron meets Leah Nolan during a evening hunt when his telekinetic and psychic powers along with the scent of blood, brings him towards her but also with confusing.  As Leah is injured by Theron mistakenly, he brings her to his home to be a doctor to her until she is healed physically.  Theron is taken immediately by Leah, first visually from her hair, and eyes among other traits that he always had thought would be his nemesis of losing immortality to. Leah is startled by her attachment and attraction to Theron.  With so many unanswered questions about him, Leah moves past her fear and grows to want to be closer to him but is unable to pull from him why he won't act on his desires for her.  As it becomes more difficult for Theron to handle his intense desire and need for Leah, will Theron be able to give up immortality to be with Leah?

Author Kelly Wallace brings forth an extraordinary vampire romance tale with Love Immortal.
The inside understanding of Theron and his ways, rituals, and rules for his immortality is spread through the story.  With some insight to the heroine's past, the reader may wonder of Leah's little fear of Theron as she goes through her physical healing so that she can leave Theron's care.  Yet, the author Kelly Wallace promises an exciting and gifted book that should be read by all readers of vampire romance.

This is my first installment of the most helpful writing tips I've gathered throughout the years. You've probably read many of these before, but they're well worth repeating. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, but these are handy to keep in mind while working on your current project.

Please check back for future installments.

Feel free to pass these around!

*Writers, if you have some favorite writing tips, feel free to send them in.  I'll post them, along with your name and website link!*

1. Write your story straight through without editing as you go along. Leave your story alone for a couple of weeks, then go back and edit. This does wonders in helping to spot errors, breaks in rhythm, and other problems. This cooling off period is essential.

2. Use specific images so readers can actually see, hear, feel, taste and smell what's going on. Okay: "It smelled bad." Better: "It smelled like sour milk." Okay: "He was old." Better: "His face was lean and shriveled, like an apple too long in the barrel."

3. Avoid using many clichés. (Hard as a rock, thin as a rail, sick at heart, etc.) Make your writing your own.

4. Avoid heavy sprinkling of these overused words: Just, even, like, also, although, besides, almost, maybe, and, if, but, too, unless, sort of, that.

5. Try not to use: Appears, seems, as though, seemed like, seemed as though. These make your story weak and unreal.

6. Stay away from "suddenly" and similar words. "Suddenly there was a gunshot!" This only expresses a thought. Try to impress, not express.

7. Try eliminating these "to be" verbs: is, am, was, were, are, will, be. Add commas as needed and/or turn sentence around to make it stronger.

8. Be simple and clear. Avoid long sentences, long words, long speeches. Readers tend to skip over these.

9. Grab your reader with the very first paragraph of your story. Better yet, capture their attention in the first sentence. It's said that you have just three seconds to hook the reader, so make every word count.

10. Don't let your characters sit and think too much. Show thoughts through action, such as a smile, a frown, a sigh, throwing a glass at a mirror, etc. The more you have your characters interact, the more you keep your reader interested.

Theron Ambrose has been a vampire for centuries, and has chosen to live his life alone, for if he ever falls in love and has sex with a woman, he will lose his immortality forever. This has never been a problem, since he has made for himself a solitary life and never feeds from the same woman more than twice. He chooses women that are broken-hearted and beaten down, takes their blood and leaves them happier then when he found them. Not a bad life for a vampire, until he accidentally backs into Leah Nolan. She becomes the one woman that could change everything he created for himself all these years-the one woman that he is now responsible for healing.

Reading Love Immortal was a fantastic, sensual roller coaster of a story! Kelly Wallace has taken her view of the vampire and put a couple of twists into it that made the chemistry between Leah and Theron even more intense. Theron is, of course, a sexy, muscular, brooding vamp that has his world rocked when the beautiful Leah becomes injured and needs his care to recuperate. Leah is a young, vibrant, if sullen woman with striking eyes and amber hair that has this soldier standing at attention on more than one occasion. Leah has secrets of her own that Theron uncovers and the fact that he becomes almost human when around her had me falling for him too. Of course, he had to become an ass when his feelings became too intense, but there is a reason and he battles himself on more than one occasion regarding Leah. Even though he did not want to make love, he could use that wonderful mouth to pleasure Leah and use it he does. Leah and I both were spent when he was finished! Seductive, pleasurable, well written and fast moving, Love Immortal is a wonderful read, with an unexpected finish.

I posted this on the Love Bites Romance Reviews website and Myspace, but thought to post it here as well on my author Myspace since it's worth repeating!

What are some of the top reasons manuscripts get rejected?  How can you avoid these mistakes and have a better chance of hearing "yes" instead of "Thanks, but not for us"?

1.  Read the guidelines!  Be certain of what the publisher is looking for and how to submit it.  If a publisher specializes in historical romances, don't send in your paranormal novel, no matter how good it is.  If your book has over 100,000 words, but they take only shorter works, send your story elsewhere.  If they require submissions through agents only and you don't have one, move on.  There are plenty of publishers out there and you're sure to find a fit for your story.

2.  Hook the reader with a great beginning.  Often we start our "real" story several pages or even a full chapter after we've droned on and on to "set things up."  Start off with that bang!  Take a look at the first part of your story.  Where does it start getting good?  Start there!  Put your character right in the middle of conflict and you've hooked the reader.  Weave in bits of background later.  Be sure to pace your story as well.  You don't have to keep your characters in that constant state of stress.  Give them, and the reader, time to catch their breath, but don't let things drag too long.  Think of a story as a roller coaster ride with hills, valleys, twists and turns.

3. Heavily sprinkling a story with numerous adjectives and adverbs show that we writer's are there in the background making the story happen instead of allowing the reader to get lost in our characters and their unfolding drama.  Look for strong nouns that say what you want them to say instead of using adverbs and adjectives as crutches to hold them up and make your point.  That's not to say that they should all be omitted, but go through your story and see just how many are being used when a more simple sentence with strong nouns would get your point across.

Also, don't be afraid to say "said".  Saying, "she articulated, he ranted, she whined, he uttered" just shows that we're trying to find another way to say "said" or to get the emotion of the character across.  Using "said" is simple and gets your point across, but many times you don't have to add any tag at all if you SHOW what your character is experiencing or doing.  Such as, "I've had it!"  Mary threw the crystal vase across the room where it hit the wall and burst into a million tiny pieces.  There's no reason to write, "I've had it!" Mary retorted angrily.  We can see she's spitting mad by her actions!

4.  Too much detail and narrative is another big problem--and one I was guilty of in my earlier days, and still can be to a point.  Be sure to break up narrative passages with action and dialogue.  Don't let the characters be inside their heads for too long or everything just stops.  It's true that your characters have an internal life and a life before the story began, but it's best to weave in details here and there instead of boring the reader with long passages.

When giving background details, only include what's important at that moment.  When a character enters a room, what does he/she first see?  What's important or what sticks out?  Describing a room or scene down to the last speck of dust has the reader turning pages to get to the action again.  When we view rooms, scenery and people in reality, we don't make a mental note of every detail.  We choose a few things that stand out to us.

5. Flat characters are another sure way to get that rejection. Be certain that your characters are people your readers will care about.  The reader has to care about your character and what will happen to him/her or there's no reason for them to keep reading.  Give your characters values, dreams, faults, quirks...make them real!

Be sure that your character's motivations are clear.  The character must want something, but something or someone is preventing him/her from getting it.  Your characters should literally take over the story as you write.  Sit down and just watch what your characters do and relay that onto the computer.  If we start manipulating them, forcing them to do something, the story loses its pacing and it ends up flopping on its face.  Characters MUST have a compelling goal and conflict to keep the reader interested.

6. No plot to the plot, or using worn-out plots is another problem area.  True there are only 20 basic plots, but use your voice and your ideas to breathe new life into them.  Give your characters something they want desperately but can't have at the moment.  How will they get what they want?  Who or what stands in the way?  How will your character get around it or through it?  Editors and readers want characters with strong personalities, not wishy-washy wimps.  And they want stories that have something new to say.  Just because there are thousands, if not millions, of vampire novels out there, with your ideas and your voice you can add a uniqueness to it that makes it brand new.

My greatest method of moving the story along and creating a good plot?  Ask yourself lots of questions and answer them.  "What if a woman was lost in the middle of the jungle?  How did she get there?  Who is she?  What is she after?  Who's there with her?  How will she get out?"  By starting out with a simple two word question, you can generate a plethora of ideas for a novel!

7.  Always read!  Read what's being written out there in the world.  Read for pleasure, but also read to learn.  Whatever genre you're interested in writing, read as many books as you can that are in this line, especially if you enjoy the author's writing style.  These people are in print and there's no reason you can't be too.  As you read, make mental or physical notes of the characters, the pacing, the background details.  What do you like?  What could be better?  I have a highlighter with me every time I read a book--provided it's my book!  If there's a good line of dialogue, something that piques my interest, a good lesson in writing in detail, flashbacks, conflict, love scenes, you name it, I highlight it!  This has offered me more inspiration and more guidance than any nonfiction book on "How to Write."

Although these tips won't keep you out of the rejection pile every time, by following them you have a much better chance at signing a contract than you do at adding yet another rejection to the pile.

Happy writing!

Kelly

LOVE IMMORTAL

Theron Ambrose--a Greek name meaning 'immortal hunter'--is not your typical vampire.  Forget the crucifix and holy water, he's a modern day vampire!  His desire for an eternal, immortal life drives him to feed nightly from brokenhearted women since they are the easiest to take.  He makes the grieving ladies forget their troubles while stealing from them the very thing that keeps his life a perpetual one: Blood.

For three centuries he has avoided falling in love since giving away his heart means giving up his immortality, but when he accidentally runs someone down with his car, he discovers it to be the very woman he had avoided all of these years.  His fantasy.  His dream come true.  His nemesis.  Feeling that it was his duty to help her heal, he takes her home with him, refusing to admit that he was oh, so curious and wanting to tempt fate just a bit.  Why did she haunt him so?  Soon, Theron discovers that an eternal life isn't nearly as satisfying as the thought of making Leah Nolan his.
