and I just noticed I'm on her fan site (called the Voice, not to be confused with the Village Voice, which would also be nice.) This woman has lungs of steel:

(I'm wearing a Pindeldyboz shirt to prove that I'm hip and literary in addition to being a cabaret fan.)

My very first mention in the NY Times:
"Mr.[Joey] Reynolds is not only one of the last of the city's old-style talk-show hosts, he may also be the only one who presides over a traditional live talk and variety program on New York radio. The audience is so small, he can say virtually anything he wants to, as long as he doesn't run afoul of the Federal Communications Commission...He recently shouted at the novelist Lara Tupper, 'Take off your shirt!'" --
It's true, I'm afraid. I said something clever like, "Did you really just say that?" And then my Nana called my cell to ask the same thing.
Context is key. I was wearing one of my favorite t-shirts (white with silver lettering, $29.99 from the Barry Manilow Gift Shop in the Las Vegas Hilton). It says, BARRY FANILOW. As a Vegas veteran himself, I think Joey wanted his studio to be Barry-free.
But thanks for the mention, David Evanier. And thanks, Mr. Reynolds, for the Fanilow Gone Wild moment. (As my Nana was happy to hear, I did not comply.)
