FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"Kick Off Screening" in Seattle offers sneak preview of youth film festival
SEATTLE, WA – The National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY) will hold a launch screening April 26 to showcase award-winning films directed by youth (21 and under) from across the country. The event will signal the official unveiling of the brand new Seattle film festival, which is striving to become the largest and most influential youth-oriented film festival in the nation.

The Kick Off Screening will take place at the new cinema at Nesholm Family Lecture Hall (McCaw Hall, Seattle Center) on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available to the public online or at the door for a donation of $5.

NFFTY was founded by two passionate young filmmakers; Jesse Harris, 21 and Jocelyn R.C., 18. A board of directors comprised of young filmmakers and Seattle film and business professionals, manages the festival. Films for the "Kick Off" were selected by building relationships with other film organizations and youth film festivals across the country and viewing their best work.

"This screening is the inauguration of NFFTY helping young filmmakers reach a broader audience and grow as filmmakers. We want to give young people the chance to change the world through their stories," Harris said.

Harris, 21, is best recognized for his 2005 feature film, "Living Life," and for being the youngest known American director to obtain multi-city theatrical release and distribution of a feature film. Originally from Seattle, Harris now resides in Los Angeles, Calif., where he is the Creative Director at New Ocean Pictures. New Ocean is also the first signed on sponsor for the 2008 festival.

R.C., 18, is a senior at Bellevue High School in Washington State. She will attend Loyola Marymont University's School of Film and TV in fall 2007.

For more information, visit NFFTY's website at www.nffty.org .

Both Harris and R.C. are available for interviews prior to the event.

Tickets are available for media give-aways to their audience and listeners.

NFFTY is an annual film festival in Seattle targeted towards young filmmakers. It is managed by The Talented Youth, a Washington State non profit for the arts, founded in 2007 by Jesse Harris, 21, and Jocelyn R.C.,18. The organization was created in order to provide a venue for aspiring filmmakers to showcase their work and receive valuable tips and tools to succeed in the filmmaking industry. In addition to its annual festival, scheduled to launch fully in Spring 2008, The Talented Youth plans to eventually provide grants and year round resources to filmmakers.

National Film Festival for Talented Youth

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

LAUNCH OF NEW NATIONAL YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL IN SEATTLE

Young filmmakers and industry veterans join forces to create a powerful new support organization and national film festival for aspiring young filmmakers.

SEATTLE, WA (PRWEB) January 22, 2007 - The National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY) is a newly-created national film festival that will showcase films by young filmmakers (21 and under) from across the country. The 1st annual festival will kick off in Seattle in Spring 2008. However, in an event slated for April 26th 2007, NFFTY will enter into the public's eye with a Seattle launch party showcasing a 90 minute selection of some of the best short films from young filmmakers around the country.

The 2008 festival will be a multi-day, multi-venue film festival featuring dozens of youth-made films, workshops and panel discussions. The festival will give young filmmakers from across the country an opportunity to showcase their films to audiences of all ages. It is with crucial public screenings and audience reaction and insight that young filmmakers can realize mistakes, discover a film's power, and grow as filmmakers.

NFFTY is part of a larger Washington non-profit corporation, The Talented Youth. It was founded by two young filmmakers, 21-year-old Jesse Harris and 18-year-old Jocelyn R.C. Hollywood-based Harris, a Seattle native, is best known for his 2005 feature film, Living Life, which made him the youngest known American to obtain multi-city theatrical release and distribution. Harris directed the film at the age of 17, using what was suppose to be his college fund to finance the film. Jocelyn R.C., a Bellevue High School senior with a true passion and proven talent for filmmaking, will be attending Chapman University in the fall of 2007. The diverse and multi-faceted board of directors of The Talented Youth includes industry, non profit and business professionals as well as young filmmakers.

It is NFFTY and The Talented Youth's desire to grow in the coming years, provide grants and year-round resources, and emerge as the largest and most influential film festival and young filmmaker support organization in America. The power of film is everlasting. By providing these opportunities, the voices of young people will be heard, their stories told, and audiences will be inspired. And in so doing, it is the sincere desire of NFFTY that young filmmakers will have a chance to change the world.

More details regarding the April 2007 launch party venue and participants will be released.
