December 13, 2009 - Sunday
Just to let you all know, as you are living comfortable within your warm provinces and states: it has been negative 50 for the past two days. Negative 50, and it's not even January yet! I have lived up North for years now, in different locations, and by far, this is the coldest community. This is a community that has been on shows like Ice Pilots NWT, and most likely Ice Road Truckers. And i'm just wondering that, unless you were born here and have been here your whole life, how you would find anything appealing about living this far North.
I would say the only thing going for it is the fresh air, but you can get plenty of that over in Norway, with much more beautiful scenery, too. And I really have nothing against small communities, but 700, seriously? The only way to get in is by plane, or winter road. I've completely reverted to online shopping, which is getting to me. You can't even get decent shampoo, toothpaste or pain pills here, so you have to ship them from Yellowknife.
This place is actually making me miss Alberta, and I greatly dislike that.

That's what it looks like, everyday. 4 hours of actual light, with or without seeing the sun.

CRASHDIET'S new single "In The Raw" was recently posted on their MySpace profile. If you had any doubt for what was in store for the future of Crashdiet, you better damn well stop. "In The Raw" is well crafted, Olliver's vocals compliment the gritty, sleazy sound throughout the whole song  and I am quite sure you'll be hitting the repeat button. It may be a little different than when Dave Lepard fronted the band, but bands do evolve and I think The Unattractive Revolution will be another astonishing release for CRASHDIET.

Join the LAM Mailing List to keep updated and join the LAM Community for more inside info!

Pictured above is the cover of the CD designed by Sean Brennan.

There will be two versions of the CD released in both the USA and Europe; a 14 song version and a special limited edition digipack version with 16 songs. The first release in Europe will be the limited edition digipack with 16 tracks. Only 10,000 will be printed. After that is sold out the standard jewel-case edition will be released, with 14 tracks. In the USA a limited edition digipack with 16 tracks will be released at the same time as the standard 14 song jewel-case version of the CD. Only 2,500 limited edition digipacks will be printed in the USA. The digipacks are sure to become collector's items. The track listing for "Violent Acts of Beauty" is as follows:

The Beginning of the End
Feeling Fascist?
Nothing's Sacred
Heaven Now
America's a Fucking Disease
Complex Messiah
Republic
Fear
Pure
The Kids Are All Wrong
Love You to Death
The Pain Looks Good on You
Nothing's Sacred Extended Club mix (available on the digipack limited release only)

Nothing's Sacred original demo (available on the digipack limited release only)
America's a F***ing Disease (edit)"

If you're into politics, dark gothic music, or just trying something new, watch for the new album "Violent Acts of Beauty". A North American release is at most times rare for artists like this.

And for all you HIM nuts, this should give you another though:

So, I decided it was time to create another blog, but this time it's going to be frequently updated and look hellishly cool-NOTHING IS COOLER THAN LEOPARD SKIN PRINT, ADMIT IT.

The blog will be about the obvious, music. Sleazy music, to be exact. The write-ups aren't gonna be as well done as say, the ones over at Shipwreck, but still, it's a blog, and I get to say whatever the hell I want!

Why am I not staying in MySpace to write the blogs? Because MySpace is not cool! No, no, it is, just for blogs, blogspot is way the hell cooler!

So, check it out if you want to: http://sleazegypsy.blogspot.com

Anti-Flag - One of the three opening bands and I can proudly say WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT BAND. Even the other two had more to offer than they did. It's punk with no substance whatsoever.

Love it when crowds are just so into the music, or just love showing off their lighters and cellphones at any time possible. Leave it to Ben Kowalewicz to get people my age all hyped up and participating.

Setlist:

This Is How It Goes, Devil In A Midnight Mass, This Suffering, Line & Sinker, Standing In The Rain, The Navy Song, Worker Bees, The Ex, Suurender, Fallen Leaves, Perfect World, Sympathy, Prisoners Of Today, Try Honesty, Nothing To Lose, River Below, Red Flag.

Here's a Scarem album for the records.

As many people have stated in the past, if Harem Scarem had released their debut just a few years earlier, they would've went places; became a household name, if you will. With the release of their latest album, Human Nature, Scarem should be much more than a household name, they should be the band to return melodic rock to when it was at its peak, in terms of quality musicianship. Pete Lesperance has always been praised for his talent on guitar, and I believe this album will have everyone on their knees bowing before him. Harry Hess has once again outdone himself in the vocal department. Could it have been from the ribs and diet coke? We'll never know. All I know is Scarem is here to stay as being Canada's greatest melodic rock export.

Here's what some people have said about Human Nature:

"The final result is something that is highly melodic, very catchy, and in my book puts earlier works like the self-titled debut and Mood Swings to shame..." - Jere Fritsche(Shipwreck Island Studios)

"The good news is that Human Nature continues the swing of the pendulum. This new release will completely restore fans' faith in the band and bring the lost sheep back into the fold..." - Brian McGowan(RevelationZ Mag)

"To my ear, it is very obvious they spent alot more time on the arrangements and details than any album since VOR. The band sounds tighter than ever..." - Mick(Harem Scarem forums)

Williams injured in Wings' 3-0 win

By The Associated Press
November 8, 2006

DETROIT -- Dominik Hasek only had to stop 16 shots to earn his 70th career shutout and lift the Red Wings to a 3-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night.

Jiri Hudler finished the scoring with his third goal of the season.
It was the seventh consecutive win for Detroit (10-4-1), which got goals from Dan Cleary, Henrik Zetterberg, and Jiri Hudler, and two assists from Chris Chelios.

Dwayne Roloson stopped 42 shots for Edmonton (7-7-1) in the second meeting of the season between the teams that met in the first round of the playoffs last season. The Oilers, who upset the top-seeded Wings last season in six games, beat Detroit 3-1 in Edmonton on Oct. 21.

Cleary opened the scoring 1:55 into the second period, when he tipped in Kirk Maltby's shot from the right point. It was Cleary's third goal of the season and third in two games.

Zetterberg added a short-handed goal 2:57 into the third period on a wrist shot from the bottom of the left circle that beat Roloson on the short side, and Hudler a power-play goal with 4:28 remaining.

Detroit right wing Jason Williams was taken off the ice on a stretcher and left Joe Louis Arena in an ambulance in the second period.

After Williams tried to put in a wraparound attempt midway through the period, the Oilers' Raffi Torres leveled him with a hard shoulder check to the face. Williams went flying to the ice and appeared to land face first. He then lay motionless in the corner.

Williams had a large cut above his left eye and was secured on the stretcher. He moved his feet while he was being tended to on the ice and waved his hand as he was being taken off the ice.

It was announced between the second and third periods that Williams was conscious and doing well and had been taken to Detroit Medical Center for precautionary tests.

Detroit outshot Edmonton 14-0 in the first period. It was the fourth time in Oilers' history they have been held without a shot in a period. The last time was also in Detroit, Feb. 16, 2004, in the second period.

Defenseman Jan Hedja finally got Edmonton's first shot of the game, 19 seconds into the second period on a slap shot from the point on which Hasek made the save.

Game notes: Edmonton was the last team to beat Detroit before its six-game winning streak with a 3-1 decision in Edmonton on Oct. 21. ... Detroit D Mathieu Schneider returned after missing three games with a sore groin. ... Wings' D Andreas Lilja was scratched.
