Hello Everyone!
Just wanted to report some wonderful things happening with my CD Let's Pretend...

My songs have been playing on FM radio all over Hawaii, Nebraska & San Jose, CA. I'm getting as many spins per week as Alanis Morrisette and Dido!
The album is also being played nationally & internationally on internet radio -- check out the list of stations (and more) on my NEW WEBSITE:
http://www.susannahblinkoff.com

Two weeks ago, I had a great time being the guest on a one-hour LIVE internet radio show on Blog Talk Radio which is archived at:
http://www.blogtalkradio

and I've given a few interviews recently which you can find on these sites:

http://www.rockwired.com/susannahblinkoff.html

This Sunday, November 9th, my songs were played on the European internet radio show bigFM which has TEN MILLION LISTENERS (really!) The show is broadcast in half English and half German. Check this link:
http://www.bigfm.de

And my music is featured in a hilarious new web series called Fauxbaby.tv which was developed during the writer's strike last year. Two episodes air each week and my song "I Got Lucky" will play over a hot sex scene in Episode 6! The series is featured on one of LA's premiere blogs List.com and is posted on YouTube and StrikeTV and Fauxbaby.tv.

Check it out! Every time someone watches the show a donation is made to The Actors Fund.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST:
If you don't have the CD yet...get it! Or buy a copy for a friend -- the holidays are coming soon & music is a great gift -- economical too!
If you have the CD & like it, please take a minute & post a review on either cdbaby.com or iTunes. Positive comments really help sales & are very appreciated.
It's a great joy for me to share my music. Thanks for reading this far. Please visit my website for links to buy the CD:

Current mood:  adored
Category: Blogging
I've been procrastinating. Avoiding. Not doing it.
What? Blogging.
I'm a life-long journal writer, I've got boxes and boxes of diaries in my garage that chronicle basically my entire life...so what's so hard about writing a little blog?
Well, I don't know if I'm the only one (I'm gonna go out on a limb and say probably not) but I have this evil little guy who whispers in my ear sometimes..."Why would you think that anyone is interested in what YOU have to say? What are you, nuts?" Ouch. Keeps me avoiding. Must clean kitchen instead.
But the point is that in this 21st century/techno-connected world of ours, with so little time and so much multi-tasking, the blog can serve a nice purpose. It connects me to my listeners & friends with a simple click. We get to know each other a little bit more through the written word, which I do have a fondness for as it allows for a more thoughtful presentation (vs. my spoken blurts of honest conversation that sometimes step on toes).
Anyway...I was on a FANTASTIC radio program this morning and in the chat room at the same time and I wanted to blog today to give a shout out to Nikki Starr and all the listeners and fans who gave me so much support and love. Check out the archives:

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/stations/flylady/nrtp/2008/10/24/Nikki-Rocks-the-Politics

and look for another blog next week. Even if no one cares...I'm pretending you do!....which means, maybe that I do too...and I am finally listening to myself.

:) Peace. VOTE EARLY! Be free.

For those of you interested in helping spread the word about my music and my new album "Let's Pretend," I invite you to become a member of my brand new street team. Street team members are needed to help promote my new CD online thru ways of message boards, calling or emailing requests to radio stations and any other inventive ideas that you may have! You can find my new street team page at www.myspace.com/blinkoffstreetteam. I would also appreciate if those of you who have purchased the album could go to Amazon and iTunes and post a review.

Thanks for your help!

Gratitude is powerful.

My producer Rich and I were supposed to work but I was not in the mood. I was lying on my bed trying to meditate, trying to psych myself up and get in the mood when he called and asked if we could reschedule the session - he didn't feel like working either. I was so relieved! I quickly agreed, then hung up and started puttering around my house when it hit me...just because I'm uninspired doesn't mean I shouldn't write. I called him back 5 minutes later and said "Let's show up and see what happens." This is what we wrote.

In keeping with the theme...
TURN TO ME

A love song for a friend in need.

This was actually written as an assignment for a movie. They didn't use it but I like what I ended up with.

You can hear Turn To Me on Susannah's CD, "Let's Pretend", which is available now on iTunes.

A personal anthem of liberation for anybody who has ever stood in someone else's shadow.

I read an interview once with Sean Combs/P. Diddy where he talked about how singing his hits over and over again, performing them repeatedly all over the world had made him realize just how magical the combination of words and music really is and how powerfully affirmative songs can be. He said something like "You gotta be careful what you write because usually when you sing something again and again, it ends up becoming true." That made me think about what words I wanted to sing over and over and what I wanted to affirm. I was also consciously trying to be more honest and personal in my writing. I've had many relationships in my life where I felt overshadowed by (and less important than) the people I was with, where I took better care of them than I did of myself. This song, for me, is about accepting the past but also celebrating the start of a new chapter - "my time now".

I love pizza. I'd eat pizza every day if I didn't care about still being able to wear my favorite jeans. But for the first time, I have returned from a visit to my hometown New York City after having eaten multiple plain cheese slices...and I actually know that a better pizza exists in L.A. (finally!)

Garage Pizza in Silverlake makes FANTASTIC PIZZA! Chewy crust, great cheese and most importantly...it's FOLD-ABLE. Meaning that you can fold it in half and eat it while you walk down the street or run down the subway steps to catch the train. Too bad we don't walk down the streets or take the subway in L.A. So what!? It's still as good, if not better, than many a slice in my recent New York experience.

Garage Pizza is in the little mini-mall on Sunset & Fountain, next door to Saito Sushi, across from Akbar. Open til 3 am on weekends. Check it out!

I know this has nothing to do with my new CD but...you gotta eat sometime, right?
