Is Hull worthy of being nominated as City of Culture .... personally I think Hull is awash with talent in many art forms and deserves a wider recognition. Hull meaning Hull and the surrounds of The East Riding of Yorkshire. Hull has so much to offer the rest of the world and to be nominated as The City of Culture in 2013 would enable Hulls Art (be it music, dance, theatre, art and its heritage...think Hulls fishing heritage and more) to be projected onto the world stage. This would do for the city and more as to what Hull City achieving Premiership Status did and more and give Hulls musicians and artists a world stage....How much do you want it? An extract taken from " Pg 18, The Ulldailymail" sat 5 Dec reads, " A survey has been launched to find out why the city desreves to become the UKs 2013 City of Culture Hulls bid for the position is being led by the city council with east Riding Council and Visit Hull and East Yorkshire. Their aim is to find out what the areas artists think about the bid in order to maximise the benefits Hull would gain as City of Culture. people can complete the survey until Friday when the bidding for the second round closes and any views expressed would help strengthen the bid." For further details visit www.surveymonkey.comhelp hull realise its potential and dream no more. Hull....City of Culture 2013, lets make it happen! darren.....The Nocturnal Flowers.

Calling all local music friends....Well not entirely a gig but possibly the performance of your life. Local Girl Emily Pierce (18) of Skidby lies hopelessely ill with Lymphoblasic Leukeaemia (cancer of the blood) in the Specialist Cancer Care Unit at Castle Hill.
Whilst Emilys life hangs in the balance you can make all the differance and save a life.
A special information session has been arranged by The Anthony Nolan Trust and is to be held 4-8pm at Cottingham Parks Golf Club, Woodhill way Cottingham (Nr skidby Roundabout) on Tuesday 8th December.
Please consider this young person and her families plight. Giving up a small flake of your life (Time) could make all the differance and more.
It couldnt be easier, modest effort required... simply just turn up in person.
Please forward this message onto as many of your friends on Myspace, MSN, Twitter and Facebook as possible.
Look forward to seeing some friends in the flesh on Tuesday.

I slept under a clear starry sky last night and was awoken by, rabbits playing, birds singing and the warmth of the sun with its rays like arms outstretched wide, sending its invitation to the extended indian summer that it has in store. Tribfest has a feel good factor and amongst good company on Sunday 23rd the sun will continue to shine as The Nocturnal Flowers will be playing a rare live set as a 5 piece....between acts and in the VIP Tent at 5pm .. Whilst we cant promise you covers, we can promise you a slice of something very very Hull and original. Get your drinks and come and join us for live music at its best. Ps Whilst tribute music and bands may not be everyones cuppa tea, for many people they are an introduction to live music and whilst we ourselves may play only the occaisional cover credit and applause is given to Eddie Faulkner and his team for the meticulous planning and organisation behind the scenes and leading up to the event which is impressive and brings good people together for the love of live music. Our thanks go to Eddie, his team and The Harry Watts Band for inviting us to play to a large audience and to be part of this event. Its also no doubt appreciated by all musicians concerned locally playing at this event and ourselves that recognition and support has been given to the local music scene.......the breeding ground of the next tribute band and acts! Cheers Guys. The Nocturnal Flowers Picture courtesy of Ian Rook Photography.
