The government is giving the meat and dairy industry subsidies because in return, they promise to help fund their campaigns. This is why you can buy a cheese burger for a dollar. Without subsidies, these government sponsored food will be more expensive than organically grown food. The organic food industry can also play this game but they are not as powerful as the meat and dairy industry. These two industries are also backed by the pharmaceutical industry. The reason why the pharmaceutical industry loves the meat and dairy industry is because their food make people sick. Organic food such as fruit and vegetable, improve people’s healthy. People who eat them in high amounts rarely get sick. Because of this, there is little money to be made. This is why the pharmaceutical industry backed up the conventional food industry, such as the meat and dairy industry. Another reason why the government is more in favor of conventional food is because it is more capable of feeding an overpopulated world. Conventional food is easier to grow and usually last longer because of the added chemicals.
