The ICMP & Stiff Promotions present...MishMash!

DATE: Friday 17th October
DOORS:
7.45pm
VENUE:
Luminaire, London

Headlining this exciting rocking musical treat are Bo Pepper, with support coming in the shape of Four Wheel Drive and Everfade.

Bo Pepper - www.myspace.com/bopepper

Fresh from an exciting debut at Manchester's In The City, Bo Pepper is one hot rocking band! Uh-huh! Their influences are Blondie, Sparks, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Killers, The Strokes and knitted folk.

The band have been together for just ten months but already they are more than a bit popular and they look well fit in a certain light. Bo Pepper have created some amazing demos in main songwriter Dolly's bedroom and they are ready to shower you with their hotness.

One of these demos, "Blinkandyou'llmissit!", recorded for about 10p is currently all over the radio, despite the band still being unsigned. Here's some nice things other people have said about them:

"Bo Pepper- Blinkandyou'llmissit!- I like that!" Jonathan Ross, BBC Radio 2

"We've been keeping an eye on them for a couple of months now…what is the fascination with the knitted animals? Steve Lamacq, BBC 6Music

"Not even signed but they got themselves in a good position…the puppet is the most charming puppet since Mr Oizo!" Nemone, BBC 6Music

"Kooky, charming, indie-pop with honest, heartfelt lyrics". Eddy Temple Morris, XFM DJ

"Lot of people making noise about this lady just now. She has a sweet voice and makes poppy, perky tunes." Marsha Shandur, XFM DJ

And here's some other nice things people have written about them:

"Cheeky up-and-coming band Bo pepper know how to get Bizarre fame — by giving it a mention in their video. The new single, No One But Yourself To Blame, is out on iTunes on Monday and the video is a cracker. The group, fronted by stunning singer Dolly Pepper, are soon off to LA to work with producer GREG WELLS." The Sun, 21st June 2008

"Sharp and sassy punk-pop from battle of the band-winning tips for 2008, Bo Pepper." Time Out, 2008

"How is it possible that UK-based Bo Pepper remains unsigned when Perez Hilton has decreed that it should be otherwise? Their utterly brilliant indie heart bleeds "bitter pop sounds," and will leave you oozing red on the dance floor. Single "I'm Bored" is the most unboring unsigned track to come out of the UK this year." Marc Savlov, Austin Chronicle, March 2008

"Bo Pepper, a London band currently tipped for big things " Sophie Heawood, 'The Times' newspaper

Four Wheel Drive - www.myspace.com/4wdtheband

Four Wheel Drive is a band that exists to play live.
The songs have always been written with the live show in mind and the delivery is
enough to get anybody's mouth away from their pint. Four Wheel Drive is made up
of a highly "driven" collection of individuals whose lives are designed around the band
and they deliver what can only be described as a relentless onslaught of good time,
balls out Rock 'N' Roll.

Everfade - www.myspace.com/everfade

Formed in Late 2005, Cardiff based band Everfade combine a mix of influences into a unique and catchy sound. Having shared the stage with the likes of Dopamine, The Blackout and Said Mike, amongst others, Everfade's first demo was recorded with Romesh Dodangoda (Funeral For a Friend, Kids in Glass Houses, The Blackout)

Mishmash (Noun) a confused collection or mixture.

Bored of the same names and faces cropping up at gigs, the ICMP and Stiff Promotions, have teamed up to create a new night highlighting all that is a little quirky and different.

Artists & bands from the ICMP's alumni will perform alongside current ICMP acts, with Stiff providing the cream of musical output from the south coast. Topped off with some of the hottest touring bands emerging onto the scene, MishMash promises to be one of the most exciting nights on the London calendar!

Headlining the inaugural night, prior to sweeping through some ok the UK's best summer festivals (Hyde Park Calling, Wireless, Bestival) , The RGB's (fronted by ICMP vocal tutor Becky Jones) bring their overlapping synths, shared vocals and pounding beats to the Luminaire. These three ladies (and their French male drummer) bring a heady mix of 80s synth pop and punk attitude as well as a live performance that never fails to amaze!

Signed to RCA Records, The New Devices (featuring ICMP students Arni Arnason & Fredrik Lundagards), with their songs of debauched nights on the town and the regrets of the morning after, fuse dance music and energetic beats for an age when the iPod is your DJ and it's all too rare to find an act that take you to unknown places.

Southampton's The Rebs have built up a reputation supporting acts like The Enemy, Tiny Dancers and former La's/Cast man John Power. Already booked to play Guilfest this year and having reahced the finals of the 'Road to V Festival' competition, The Rebs maybe Hampshire's best kept secret, but soon the secret will be out.

Hunched behind his keyboard, 21 year old Dan Smith is something of a revelation. An everyday young man devoid of arrogance and pretension, yet with a passionately-honed raw talent that would have the purveyors of today's 'mockney' singer-songwriting acknowledging that their time in the spotlight may well be up, his folky pop never fails to warm the heart and leave the audience smiling.

Mish Mash @The Luminaire, 311 High Road, Kilburn London NW6 7JR.

Thursday 19th June 2008.

Tickets £5 advance/£6 on the door, available from:

www.stiffpromotions.co.uk

http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=270072 (choose 'promo code' and type in 'lovelymash' to receive discounted tickets)

The IMCP (students only).

Doors at 8.00pm, stage time 8.30.
