Hello friends, I’d like to take a second to explain a bit about the point we’re at in our journey.
For years, we’ve fought hard as a self-managed collective of artists, experimental and free. Our desire has always been to be as open and honest as possible, so we also acted in this time as our own managers and entrepreneurs to get as far as we could on our own.
With all of this, we’ve been growing to the point that that the business side took over and started to affect us on an artistic and even a personal level – needing to be around all day and not having time for anything. For this reason, with the arrival Marina’s child, we decided to take a break and breathe, and to restructure our formula in order to get time to make a record with affection, love and emotion. It’s something that we have largely succeeded in doing, as you will soon see.....
Our attempts to reach all corners of the world has gone well, at times, and at others not so much. There are many countries where we have not arrived, but where we badly want to go and where we know we have many friends and followers. We get so many e-mails from these places, asking us to release our music there and travel there, take our music beyond the seas, but as a self-managed group it’s almost impossible to make it happen with a band of this size (11 musicians, 19 people total on the road).
We have made great efforts and sacrifices, and indeed we have been able to end up almost everywhere to play shows, but this has not been the case with the albums. This has made us rethink the old formula, and just as we made our first steps with Techarí – licensing in Europe, Japan, and Australia – for this one we have taken it a step further and sought to reach a worldwide audience, at the same time respecting our independence, artistic philosophy, and social commitment. ....
We remain fighters, as we grow and our scene continues to grow stronger. We need partners who can provide the right conditions to go ahead and believe we have found the right record label. We will continue to work in the same areas as always. We want everyone to know that we remain a free and autonomous collective, the owners of our own projects, of our own albums and of ourselves, and we continue with our label, Diquela Records. Now, however, we will stop wasting time figuring out how to get out music released in each region and stop spending so much energy going with so many different and sometimes unknown companies, risking mistakes (as we have already had in several countries).....
So we now have more time to devote ton the group, the art, the music, and to ourselves as well… this will have a direct impact and lead to even more amazing energy on stage, as you’ll see. ....
In truth, we will continue as always, and we have a tremendous new force with us who is really now part of the group, Jemima, with her focus now and our super team (Ona, Hector, C06), working from a single point (Warner Records), and branch out to the whole planet.....
We are very pleased with this new step and we are sure that you will be as well, our friends and fellow travelers who know our road so well, and in this way we look forward tor reaching those of us who don’t know us yet without ceasing to be ourselves. ....
We hope to see you all in our shows starting at the end of March where we will surprise you with great new songs and new ideas that will blow your mind and break your hearts.....
However, to survive we need to maintain our heart and show that self-management is still the way. We’ll be putting on concerts without intermediaries, with tickets available on sale directly from our online shop at www.diquela.com/shop. You can buy everything there, including all releases and tickets to shows, and through this medium we plan to continue on in direct contact with you at all times, never selling our souls to that old devil.....
