CHARON: TIME OUT FROM SONGWRITING TO FIND INSPIRATION

We have together decided to take some time out from song writing and album production. As from today we are taking a two-month break from Charon to keep things meaningful and to search for relaxation and less stressed creative inspiration. We will continue writing songs in August when we will think through our working methods and scan for potential partners. A small break after 15 years of hard work gives all of us a great possibility to do other things and look at things from a distance.

After the release of Songs for the Sinners, the last album for Spinefarm, we played intensively around Finland and Europe for two years. After extensive touring we have worked countless hours to make the next and the best Charon album ever. The last two years have gone by really fast and at the same time emerging writer’s block has not made it easy for us. Lately we have felt that we have lost the ability to write great songs and playing has become forced. We want to be honest in all our work to ourselves and to our fans – and to make an album that we can stand behind. We will not settle for anything less. In addition, personal reasons and other music projects have had their influence on the pace of working.

During the break Charon will not play any shows in Finland or elsewhere. Playing the same setlist all over again has been a burden to us since we want to offer our fans the best experience on shows as well. We will return to the stage 8 August in Raahe, Finland and 4 September at the AngraRock festival in the Azores, Portugal.

Have a great summer!

Northern Kings - whose first single "We Don't Need Another Hero" (originally by Tina Turner) hits the stores on September 24 - can without a doubt be called an all-star line-up of Finnish metal. The group is not an ordinary band, but a league of four vocalists (J.P. Leppäluoto, Marco Hietala, J. Ahola, Tony Kakko), who are all frontmen of successful bands. They wanted to create something special together and came up with an idea of arranging 80's classics to metal versions - sung by all the four together. The tracks from the forthcoming album include legendary pieces such as "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight" by Cutting Crew, "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins, "Brothers In Arms" by Dire Straits and "Sledgehammer" by Peter Gabriel. Northern King's album "Reborn" hits store October 31st.

Autumn greetings from Charon headquarters! We are currently negotiating a new record deal. More info coming soon. Last few weeks have been spent in the studio recording a demo of new material. Five brand new Charon tunes have seen the light. Yes, they rock, thanks for asking. We will play this autumn couple of shows outside of Finland – and may even play some new tunes. In Finland we will return on the road next spring.

The new year will bring new things for Charon, that's for sure. Currently the band is staying all day and all night at their beloved rehearsal bunker. And why are they there? Cause they're composing and rehearsing new songs!! That's correct my friends. New songs. There are rumours going around the mighty city of Raahe that it's the best Charon ever. Please do not ask anything about release schedules or any other 'business matters' at this point. The band focuses only on the songs at the moment. We will announce the dates etc. when the time is right. Charon will not play any gigs in Finland during the spring but it is possible that they tour a little elsewhere. In the summer Charon hopefully appears at summer festivals in your country.
