Today is the official release date of the new Outrageous Cherry album UNIVERSAL MALCONTENTS!  Ten new songs, including songs with very long titles like "It's Not Rock n' Roll (and I Don't Like It)" and "I Wouldn't Treat My Enemies The Way You Treat Yourself", as well as songs with short, concise titles like "Horizon" and "Outsider".  The futuristprimitivepsychedelic LP sleeve is the work of Tim Lampinen (Human Eye, Clone Defects), and is a nice thing to stare at while you're listening to these songs.  It's available on CD and in a limited orange vinyl LP edition on Alive/Naturalsound Records.

We are pleased to announce the release of WIDE AWAKE IN THE SPIRIT WORLD- The Best of Outrageous Cherry, on Wicked Cool Records.  This CD anthology, compiled by Little Steven, features songs that have been played often on Little Steven's Underground Garage radio show, as well as a few rarities and previously unreleased  tracks.   It's really a very nice collection.  Everything from 2 1/2 minute pop symphonies to extreme psychedelic weirdness is represented.  It is now available in record shops everywhere and throughout online inner space as well.

Outrageous Cherry's cover version of  the Junior Kimbrough song "Lord Have Mercy on Me" is featured in a groovy new film called BLACK SNAKE MOAN.  The recording appears on the BLACK SNAKE MOAN soundtrack CD which is released today on New West Records.  Junior Kimbrough, incidentally, sort of invented rock 'n roll by teaching Charlie Feathers how to play guitar in the 1940's.  He then waited until 1992 to make an album, by which time Junior's music had evolved into a kind of primal electric drone not unlike the Stooges or the Velvet Underground, but nevertheless unique to certain rural areas of Mississippi..

Outrageous Cherry- STAY HAPPY

release date:10/3/06

Outrageous Cherry's new album is now available on CD in record stores and you can probably download it from some digital zone that does that sort of thing.  The vinyl LP will be delayed a few weeks because the process of making vinyl records is more mysterious than ever.  Songs will appear unexpectedly upon this Myspace page as soon as we figure out how to do this.  Our touring plans for this album have been delayed presently, but we will post tour dates as soon as we figure out exactly what we are doing.

Analog-oriented minds are currently maintaining our computer so we've been slow about figuring out how these technologies work but we're becoming more futuristic just because you are reading this.  We've got a new LP coming out later this year, August or September.  It's completely mastered and ready to go, we're just waiting for the artwork to be finished.  The album's title is still a secret, but we can tell you some of the song titles.  "The Illuminated Council for World Destruction", "Solid Sound Gangster", and "The Past Disappears Around Every Corner" are three of  them.  We will have more information for you as soon as it is declassified, including the LP's release date and upcoming tour dates.
