We're done. That's it, nothing more to add really. The material will end up online at some point and a brand new website will be launched in the near future as well. We are also planning a tour with some almost as overweighted thrash metal band which currently goes under the title "Keski-Suomen patvorässisuimistajat 2007." Reliable sources say tonight will be spent celebrating in rather civilized manner... Drive back home will start tomorrow morning at 8am, so one thing is certain: there will be nothing left of Oulu (nor this band).
Quotes of the week: "Kato, on se lihava!" and "Syöppäs Janne vähän sipsiä, ettet pääse laihtumaan!"

The day is pretty much done. Today we've been mostly eating, sleeping(!), telling stupid, stupid jokes, calling each others bad names, farting and so on... Oh by the way, one song is pretty much mixed and mastered, too. Tomorrow we'll just go through the rest of the songs, now that we know what we need and with slight variations in some settings, it should be an easy day. Now we're heading out to rent some horror flick and tomorrow, once everything's done, it's rumoured that some of us will get absolutely hammered. "I'm afraid I was very, very drunk!"

All vocals and guitar leads were succesfully tracked yesterday. We even finished rather early, so there was plenty of time to relax and prepare ourselves mentally for the stressful two day mixing sessions ahead. That is, get some beers and talk shit at the flat where we're staying and then head out to see Jarkko Martikainen's acoustic solo gig at a nearby pub/club (he was absolutely great, by the way). Responsible grown ups that we are, most of us stayed there until around 3am. Of course, there's no way you can go to bed around 3am and be ready for the mixing in the morning, so we decided to go get some pizza and had to come back to the studio and listen to the tracks few times - really, really loud (the studio is, how conveniently, in the basement of an apartment house).
At this point, two of us had already been sleeping for a few hours at our flat, so we decided to storm in making loud puking noises. Why sleep at 5am when you can stay up? Rather soon though it turned out we're all bunch of quitters and decided to get some sleep. Five hours later it was perfect time to get up. We just arrived at the studio, it's noon, and we've got a good two days for mixing.
Stay tuned!

Our second studio day at Tonebox Studios is almost completed, we're well on schedule and things are sounding absolutely great! We met up at the rehearsal room around 8am on Monday morning and soon started our 5 hour drive to Oulu. Once we arrived at the studio, we started setting up, soundchecking and recording the drums. The drums took around 2 hours to record, yet somehow time flies and we left the studio at 11:30pm. After a late night supper at 1:15am everyone pretty much fell asleep as soon as they laid their head down.
Second day was started at 10am. We got the guitar sound we wanted pretty soon and Jarkko got on to recording. All guitar tracks minus the solos were tracked by 5:30pm. Simo was absolutely great! Few hours later all bass tracks were on tape (harddisk) too. We're just finishing up for the day and couldn't be happier with the results. Tomorrow it's time to record vocals and guitar solos and then we'll have good two days to mix this bastard.
All in all the sessions are going really smooth and things sound fantastic. We are suffering from mysterious missing guitarist syndrome though, but luckily Jore Singapore is keeping us well entertained and our spirits high. Can't wait to let you guys hear this material!

We've been rehearsing intensively lately, mainly new material. The reason is quite simple too: We're heading to studio in one week to record a new promo. It's going to be two brand new songs and an older one from 2003 (after recording the demo in May 2003, we wrote two more songs before starting the break).
This is going to be strictly a promo release, so you won't be able to purchase a copy, but it will be available for download. Some silly studio footage will naturally find its way online as well.

Current mood: creative

Welcome old and new friends! As most of you probably haven't heard of us, let me fill you in on the facts. Back in 2000 Petosalmi and Hakkola talked about starting an aggressive thrash metal band and asked Rahikainen to join them. In January 2003 it was time to enter the rehearsal room and start jamming with Häkkinen. It took two months to compose four songs that would eventually make up the first demo. Ursin was recruited to play the bass and so studio time was booked for May.
First live performance took place in September at Kickstart indoor festival in Jyväskylä. Crowd response was overwhelming and the first batch of demos was sold out even before the doors were opened! Two more shows were played in December: Deathroit indoor festival in Jyväskylä and The Fragile Art of Existence, Tribute to Chuck Schuldiner in Tampere. Two brand new songs were debuted at these shows and again the crowd response was amazing! Due to priorities with other bands, after these shows it was time to put Where Victims Lie on hiatus. That hiatus is now finally over, almost three years later! Armed with new bass player Salonen, we're writing new material that will be recorded sometime next year. We're also very much looking forward to getting back on stage next year!
