BEST REASON TO GO GAY

Dustin Reffca

Drag queens love him and men adore him. Those are most likely the reasons why this mastermind behind the hugely successful Click party at dek23 and the new Hot Mess soiree at club B.E.D is the go-to guy if you're questioning your sexuality. He brings in the fiercest DJs, and members of his clique include the irrepressible Alan T and drag queens such as Adora. His parties are more akin to a theater production, and Reffca seems to have taken over where long-running circuit parties like Back Door Bamby left off. Reffca has turned up the male-on-male machinations of love and everything seems just a bit more risqué. Still, gay or straight, it's always a gay ole time at any of his bashes.

Vixen's humorous take on ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />South Beach's newest and hottest Sunday Night event, Omar Gonzalaz's CLICK at dek23.  Exclusive CLICK pics in GaySOFLA's photo gallery.

"Sorry Nixon you're not on the list".

It's Vixen like the reindeer," I said.

"Nope nothing," said Michael Stanly.

The guys behind me started to laugh. My assistant looked at me with disbelief. I took a deep breath and wondered how this could have happened? Here I am trying to cover the latest hot spot on ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />South Beach and I was not on the list! I reached for my Nokia and called my contact.

"Hi. It's me .We're here at the door and they're asking me to call you because they are stating we are not on the list. "

He's on his way," I explained.

Before I knew it, he came from behind me said hello to everyone, and said "It's ok they're with me". They opened the velvet rope and let us through. I raised my eyebrow and waited until Orlando the doorman open the door for me; I gave him the most vicious look I can get my face to make and said"Thank you".We started to walk in and saw Jennifer (she has these amazing eyes that  just hypnotize you.) We smiled at her and said "Hello"  She was about to say "Five dollars Please." when my contact said"It's ok they're with me".What awaited us at "Click" we were not ready for.

Click

The room was freezing cold (which is always good at a club). I looked towards my right. The Bar! I can see they had Kettle One Vodka . "So far, so good". I looked towards my left. The Dance Floor. It was pretty early like 11.45 ish. I walked over to the Dance Floor and looked around the room. Exotic amber lighting everywhere, comfy snake print lounge chairs. Am I being impressed? I didn't want to be but I couldn't help it. This place is "Major " as Victoria Beckham would say. The whole room screamed fun and glamour. "We ..:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" />..:namespace prefix = w ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" />to go to the washroom "I told my assistant. We glided over to the right heading towards the bathroom. "Oh My God" I yelled. Mirrors!!!! The entire hallway that leads towards the bathroom and patio was filled with different size mirrors. "Oh Finally!" I thought. "A lounge club that you don't have to wait in line to have  quick face checks". I asked my assistant to wait for me while I went in to the lil Men's Room. Clean, Orangey Deco and two Urinal Stands with out a dividing wall. "Humph". I smiled, looked in the mirror checked the shirt for lint, face was looking fresh gave the Washroom Attendant a five and walked out. I looked over to my assistant Sonia and said o.k. let's check out the Patio.

The Patio

The Patio looked what South Beach is supposed to look like. Very Delano, very white, yet at the same time summer breezy and elegant. I was extremely pleased. We walked over to the Bar Tender. "When you get a chance Let me please have a Cosmopolitan with Kettle One Vodka and a splash of Sour mix. My assistant gave me the famous "How gay" look. I smiled. And said "Oh and let me please have a White Russian for her". He nodded and started mixing. I looked over to my left and I had not noticed a projection was playing on the wall of The 2007 Victoria Secret Fashion Show. Justin Timberlake was performing his you guessed it... "Sexy Back." I looked over to the Dj and there he was. Dj Tpro. He was wearing a red shirt with a vintage logo. He waved. I was intrigued. I walked over to him forgetting about my drink and my assistant. I walked up to him and said "Hey! ""Hey" .he goes. "I know you." You Do?" I said puzzled? "Yeah you go to the Coliseum." I laughed and asked "Would you mind posing for a picture?" "Of course not" he smiled. I signaled my assistant. She told the bartender to hold on and rushed over. She opened her purse and pulled out the Digital Cam. He posed and thanked us. I don't know about you guys but I think Dj Tpro has got an lil sex appeal going on. Yeah, he knows what he's doing alright.

Our drinks were ready. As I sipped on my cosmo I noticed the Bartender was not checking other guys out nor the scene! Could it be? Was he straight? I looked at my assistant and gave her the "possible straight guy at gay bar look". The test that we always do is that she is supposed to say really loud to me " Your zipper is down" and if the guy looks for more than two seconds he's gay. But we didn't want to do that test too early in the evening so we did the straight test. I signaled her and she slightly dripped some of her white Russian towards her chest."Oh My Goosh...My Shirt!!" she screamed. Bingo! Within two seconds the bartender Logan looked at what was going on ran towards the napkins and handed two to her. I said really loud. "I have to go to the bathroom", which basically means "Do your thing Gurl!"

LOL! I started to walk over back inside when there he was again. Mr. Real World Miami Himself. "Dan Rienzi". (danrenzi.typepad.com). He was alone (again). Lat time I saw him was @ Score on June 21-07. I thought to myself. "He's a "real person" just ask if you can take his picture. Lucky me I had the cam in my hand and approached him. "Hi do you mind if I take your picture for Our Magazine"? "Oh, God No! I look like shit. Thank you though". And he walked away. He really did look like shit. He was wearing a long sleeve red shirt with his hair all scruffy, (no hair product) his signature glasses and dark pants. "Oh well" I thought. More film for the real models. Across the room my assistant was still talking to "Logan" Our "Patio Bartender". I walked over and interrupted on purpose. "Let's go inside "I said. She grabbed our things and started to walk .I rushed back over to Logan
and said" My friend thinks your hot (She's going to kill me!) He laughed and as honestly as he could he said. "I appreciate that. She is beautiful but I have a girlfriend". "WOW!" I thought See Nelly Furtado chivalry is not dead. I reached my assistant and we walked inside.

Main Room

I was not ready for this. The room was already packed. I'm talking Gay guys waiting in line to see the "Devil Wears Prada" packed. My contact reappeared. "Hi! there you guys are. Is everything o.k."? Yes were fine." I said. Rudy was his name. He's Miami's "it" guy. Dressed in Dark Jeans with a black v -shirt and an off grey blazer he presented the lounge club proudly. "Club is great" I said." Holy Shit" Some one yelled. I looked over to my left and saw a tall guy on the floor with his face in his own puke. My assistant was the one who yelled. "What is it "?" That guy just threw up on my Steve Maddens"!" No!" I quickly grabbed her and rushed her to the bathroom. All I can think was "How Tacky"! What hell was that?? I asked." Don't worry I said she took off her pump and I started to Wash

it with warm water.  One of the Bouncers came in the bathroom and said "Is everything alright?" Because I saw the whole thing and I can kick that guy out." No! It's fine. Please just give us a minute." I Barked. He waited a couple minutes and left. I finished washing her pump grabbed a towel, dried it and place it on her foot. She smile and said "Oh my Prince Charming! I slapped her calf and said let's go back out there. Rudy quickly came in and said everything o.k.? "We're fine, thank you." "Our table is ready" he said "Please follow me".

As we walked Through CLICK there they were Miami's All Star Elite Cast of Socialites drinking, mingling, and shaking their bodies. A hand quickly grabbed me and said "Your Vixen right"? "Yes" I said. Who was this guy? "I'm Sophia from Las Divas del Jacuzzi" he whispered. I wanted to die. I was so in shock! My mouth dropped." Oh my God you look great! "Thank you" he said. He was out of drag and looked amazing. My assistant took his pick with his friends and I thanked him. He smiled and kissed me goodbye. Super Cute! I continued walking. To my left was the ever so posh Chyna with some Dolce and Gabanna Models. My assistant quickly grabbed the cam and started shooting at whom ever I pointed. Tracy Young (Madonna's Remixed) with some of her closest friends were smiling and having couple of drinks. She seemed relaxed and soaking up the atmosphere." Good for her" I thought. Girl is always working. Joe Granda, the man that every musician wants to get closer to, joined us and sat at our table. He's worked with Gloria Trevi, Emilio and Gloria Estefan, Paulina Rubio, Juanes etc....Even the Queen of South Beach, legendary Adora, .was there. We air kissed hello and she goes" Oh this is my song, I'm on." She opened the night by performing "Amy Wine Houses Back to Black". It was "Major"

The show quickly followed by Mrs. Elaine Lancaster .She performed 9-5 By Dolly Parton and very good may I add. The Dolce and Gabbana Models came out showing there sun tanned perfectly golden bodies. Dolce and Gabbana would be so proud. Gucci quickly followed Every one was taking pictures of the models and their trunks. Rudy poured me a cranberry and vodka . I think. The show was very impressive. The line from what Neiman Marcus showed us is very manly, it's not too gay actually. It's provocative, sporty ,and screams' take me to the beach.' I loved it. The crowd was loving it too and before I noticed what was going on all the guys started to take off their shirts. The place was not hot or anything. They just wanted to get a lil attention and they sure enough did. I looked over to my left and saw my assistant mingling with what a I believe to be some bi boy, too my further left Rudy making sure everything was alright and started to chat with some of his friends, Joe Granda and Adora started to talk about business. I got up excused my self and started walking towards the dance floor. I wanted to dance!

Para pa pa pa pa pa pa pa ra ra. The song "Elektro" played by Outwork. The music got the crowd going! Everyone , boys, girls, boys, boys and even more boys were feeling the vibe of the club. I heard many people call my name Vixen! Vixen! I just smiled and waved. I was too buzzed. LOL.. Some one grabbed my arm. It was him! Mr 8 Pak!! I almost died. Last time I saw him was @ Score on June 21. "So when's the magazine coming out?" he whispered. I was not going to let him escape this time!

"August" I yelled. He started to dance with me. I wanted to ask him so many questions. What his name was? How he knew mine? His Clinique Happy Cologne smelled so good on him! I just looked at him and before I could say anything he looked at my lips and said "I look forward to reading what your going to write about me" "I won't".

I stopped dancing with him and said. "I have to go the bathroom I'll be right back". I pushed my self out of the crowd and walked out towards the patio. I got a really bad vibe from him. You know how u get those feelings when something tells you stay away?" Don't go in the haunted house, don't go searching for a noise u heard outside".

Well yeah, it was that type of feeling. I needed to get the scoop on who this guy was. What he knew about me and what his intentions were. My assistant text'd me with" Were R you? " I closed my nokia and headed towards the Main Dance Floor. The Crowd was still packed , lots of beautiful people just killing stress and forgetting their problems. I reached our table and said "I'm back". As I looked at My table there he was again talking with Rudy ."Mr. 8 pak" My eye brow was raised towards the roof. Rudy called me and introduced me. Vixen this is Pablo. He's a good friend of mine. A good friend of mine? That's it? No Job title? What's the big mystery?. I put on a super fake smile and said" Hey , nice to meet you, sorry I took so long."

Pablo leaned towards me and said, "I'm leaving already It was good seeing you again!" I kissed him on the cheek and he walked away towards a friend whom I think he came with. I wanted to ask Rudy everything but then he would know I would be interested. My assistant looked at me and pointed at her watch.

Dammit! Time to go... I looked over to Rudy and said thank you so much for everything. I had a great time. I kissed  his friends Danny and Alburt goodbye as he escorted me towards the exit. My assistant Sonia and I started to walk down Washington. She was super buzzed singing " They try to make go to rehab and I said No No NO!" I laughed, and so did she. As we kept walking we heard a car pull up in front of us. But it wasn't a car. It was limo. A black one with the Window rolled down and to my astonishment it was Pablo. He looked at me. He gave me the look as if he were saying " Now or Never Vixen" The feeling was back. Stay away! I looked at Sonia, Gave her my car keys and said "Text me when u get home" Her mouth dropped. I got in the Limo closed the door and drove down Washington..

Knockout Drag Sunday ..:

Thanks to visiting royalty, Dek23 is the winner

BY DAN RENZI

Sunday nights have turned into a battlefield of gay party promoters, with clubs opening homocentric events all around town (Flavour in Coconut Grove, Amika in ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />South Beach, et cetera). But the only Sunday party that matters is Click at Dek23, hosted by promoters Omar Gonzalez and Dustin Reffca.

It's an amazing feat, because they seemed to have the odds stacked against them: The club location (the old Bash) is on a rather unglamorous stretch of Washington, plus there's that $10 cover charge, and God help you if you try to schmooze your way around it. But these hardships just weed out the riffraff. Inside, Click is the the perfect mix: lots of gay, some straight, a smattering of lesbian, all beautiful but not too snotty about it. Add the occasional drag performance, rotating DJs (last week was Tracy Young!) and -- voilà! -- success. Not only is it the best gay Sunday, but also it's quite possibly the best party of the summer. Order bottle service: They light the bottle on fire and dance around the room with it.

Date/Time: Every week Sunday

MIAMI SUN POST/// JULY 12 2007 I was taken hostage by the gay mafia and that dapper don, Dustin Reffca, as I made my way back home. Reffca was being his fabulous self as his two-foot-high Mohawk guided The 411 through a gender-bending smorgasbord of drag queens and fashion whores that is the weekly Sunday party Click at Dek23. Celebrating its first hugely successful month, Click pulled out all the stops with performances by one of the godfathers of groove, WMC mastermind DJ Bill Kelly. Chicks with dicks were bountiful, and there were appearances by Adora, Chyna Girl and the irrepressible Elaine Lancaster. If you just can't get enough of these boy toys, be ready to indulge this Sunday when they get even sexier with something called the Trunk Show, a Neiman Marcus-sponsored event that will be part of the Miami Swim Fashion Week

The gay Nineties are back! Okay, they're not back entirely; they're still just peeking around the corner and seeing if it's all right to come out and play. But there's a renaissance brewing at Click, ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />South Beach's Sunday-night party at Dek23. Promoters Omar Gonzalez and Dustin Reffca are bringing back the headliner DJs from those heady party years of the late Nineties, before SoBe plunged into a nosedive of glamourlessness and general banality. But no need to hold a grudge against those who fled; it's nice they're coming back.

A few weeks ago Click hosted drag impresario Connie Casserole, the Nineties icon famous for playing Twist back in the days when Twist was, well, clean (was Twist really ever clean?). Connie's return was a hit, and tonight Click offers up another blast from the past with Power Infiniti, of Anthem at Crobar fame. The best part: With all of these DJs, the assorted club kids and drag queens come back as well, making the evening more fun and the world a more beautiful place.

Date/Time: Every week Sunday

Price: $10
