Hi people,
God I am so useless and should have been writing this blog AGES ago !!!
Anyway, my favourite saying is better late than never so.......

BIG THANK YOU to you ALL for sponsoring me for the Great North Run,
So, I did it, ran all the way, the whole 13 miles ( 21kilometers) and it nearly killed me even though I did trained a lot.

But the MAIN THING is that all together we raised the great amount of £495 !!!!

Yes, the PSP association is that much richer to try to find a cure which does not exist yet !
Fingers crossed, they will find it very soon.
You can give donations via their websites.
http://www.pspeur.org/

I think I will be doing it again next year.
Once again
THANK YOU
It means a lot to me and Kev and his family.

Peace

Hello EVERYONE,

I know this is quite late notice but internet works fast !!!
I am doing the Great North Run this year which is a bit more than half a marathon , 13 miles exactly. It is Sunday the 5th of October, aaaaaaaaaaaaargh its Sunday coming!!!

I am doing this very a reason, a charity cause.
A member of Kev's family has a very rare Illness called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. ( PSP)
Its very rare and often misdiagnosed as a parkinson disease which is not.
There are no treatment or no cure for it!
the patient gets trapped in his/her own body ( cant walk, talk, swallow, and see).

Please, this is important to make people aware that illnesses like these need your support, every penny count to raise money for the association to find a cure for it.

This is why I have dedicated the last fews weeks training and not drinking ( yes thats true!!! T- total ...me????!!!)
So I would like to ask alittle bit of your contribution, you can send money to the PSp helpers, very easy, via the link below and the money goes straight to the association PSP:

http://www.justgiving.com/charlotteyanni

This is very important to me, kev and all his family and obviously to all the people concerned with this illness. The money raised will not only help the person ill but also the family around as it is very lonely and hard to deal with.

If you want to read more about PSP:
here is the link

http://www.pspeur.org/

I really really hope you are going to help us. If you can only afford £2, it is better than nothing so go for it! there are no risks about paying via the internet on this link. even if its a small amount.

once again, thank you so much for reading me and feel free to forward this email to your friends and family.

All the best people and lots of health and love.

Charlotte x

review and photos from Kev Charlton... ( aka kev Bucket)
well , it's a week since the gig and im now gonna attempt to review it... here goes

first up , a bit of back ground to the gig, Charly gets a phone call the day before the gig , hey charly can you do a gig tomorrow night ?.. where..? the CARLING ACADEMY... !!!! supporting a true living legend !!! :o

no pressure there then eh !!!
tell ya what it is , even i couldnt sleep , all that was going through my mind was the walk from the side of the stage to the micstand under the spotlight at the carling academy for a french girl who has only been playing for 2 years !!!

balls ,i'll give ya balls, well we got to the gig (i was her tour manager/roadie) ;) charly was bricking it , we found out that the gig was moved upstairs due to unhealthy ticket sales, anyway it's still a prestige gig , well charly gets the nod to go on...un introduced, the room was half full and i could feel the stress she was going through, all these people were there to see steve cropper , no doubting that, so she's walking out and plugs in , introduces herself and into her first self penned number and holy montuski, the sound is massive , just charly and her geetar and loop station, first opening chords and the nerves were evident as she could'nt play a d chord for fear !! i started sweating "buckets" for her.... but all fears were cast aside as she started finding her groove and were off , charly finishes her first number, amor amor, to really good applause, and introduces herself, now this is where she is really really on the ball, her patter is a great part of her show and anounces her name is Charlotte Yanni , the frog on the tyne !!! which went down a storm with the crowd,

the room is still filling up , and into her next number you could feel the room willing her on and her performance was getting stronger and stronger till she had the crowd eating out of her hand and my smile was as wide as the tyne ;D , proud , i'll give ya proud !!! any way , charlotte delivered a set of her own material and mixed with a few well placed covers to a full room of appreciative people, all in all the prevoius 24 hours of stress had been blown out of the water with a brilliant set and confident performance by a girl who is now taking this music game by the scruff of the neck and enjoying wherever that magic bus is taking her , try catch one of her gigs , she puts on a great performance and is a great advert for hard graft and determination !

next up was the Animals........ :-/ well , this was one band i would not have went to see , because i think of all the incarnations of this well used brand name that you could see in whitly bay any wednesday night , the original animals were an amazing band and i myself had the pleasure and privilage of playing with Hylton Valentine in the Linda Gail Lewis (Jerry Lee Lewis's wee sister) band ,

well what can i say , the only original person in the band was John Steel and ..boards was Mick Gallagher, who replaced Alan Price in 67, Mick is the keyboard player for the Blockheads , so that proves he's nee mug, anyway, what an absolute pleasure it was to see these guys playing, nothing like what i was expecting, the bass player / singer Peter Barton was a lookalike for chas chandler ( who i had the pleasure of having a fight with at the after show party for the last ever Tube, they pulled me off the 6'7" bass player , ... he was lucky ;) !! and had a brilliant Eric burdon kind of voice,

they went through what was like a sory teller kinda set and then on he came ......... the legend that is STEVE CROPPER

honestly to think of the songs this guy has wrote / played on, as well as being in the blues brother band was jaw dropping, backed up by the animals, he really seemed to be getting off playing with micky gallagher, through Dock of the bay , soulman , 6345789, green onions, the list goes on and on ,
and some really tasty guitar playing by both Cropper and john williamson, this was an amazing night of pure music,

well our own Charly bucket did us proud and the Animals were an absolute huge surprise, mr Cropper dos'nt even need an introduction, all in all it was a universal musical night of french/geordie/ american musicians all on their game,
and i for one enjoyed every minute of it .. even going on stage to remove charlys guitar and pedals , it reminded my of my many years working at the hall and stuff ;D

any way the last word had to go to steve cropper , who after he signed all the photos , albums, guitars outside for everyone who had waited , he turned around saw charlotte , went over , shook her hand and said , CHARLOTTE .. GOOD LUCK TO YOU, now that was worth all the oil in texas for me ;D ;D

Charlotte Yanni, Bluehouse – Saville Exchange 18 July 2008

Where? Who? you may ask

Saville Exchange is (I think) the old Town Hall in North Shields and it is a cracking venue. The sound is spot on, loud but clear. The room itself is fantastic, big high ceilings, a balcony, tiered seats at the back and chairs and tables at the front and a bar! (albeit no draught as the place doesn't get used enough). This would make a cracking regular venue for bands but somehow I dont see that happening.

Charlotte Yanni is also known to many on here as CharlyBucket but is also known as frogonthetyne (not because of her webbed feet and the ability to catch flies with her tongue but as she is French with the strangest Y I Oo La La accent you will find round these parts).

Bluehouse are an Australian female duo, one on acoustic guitar one on bass.

Now I had never seen either act until tonight's visit as a VIP guest of Charlotte. There was approximately 35-40 in the audience for an event which had been transferred at the last moment from the Buddle in Wallsend.

What struck me first was that 80% of the audience were female.

As the lights were dimmed and I went to the bar for another drink it became clear through the gloom that these groups of women were all in fact couples!

All I can say is they don look like that in the movies!

Anyhow Charly came on stage to warm applause resplendent in a tartan mini and what my mum would call "bovver boots", and played a great 30 minute set which included self penned tracks both in English and French, such as Amor, Amor, The Mermaid, How She felt and The Party's to Begin.

Charly also did a very different and effective acoustic version of Billie Jean and has been practising finger picking and demonstrated this on Jolene.

What was very clear was how much she was enjoying herself on stage and how huge a stage presence she has, insofar as both being comfortable with the audience and be able to be self deprecating without it appearing false.

Describing her style is difficult, but her admitted influences include KT Tunstall, who uses what she calls her "Wee ol bastard" but Charly more correctly refers to as a loop pedal and used to good effect on two tracks. However every track was pretty different in style from the previous one and that also makes it hard to pigeon hole her or as the say in France "trou de pigeon elle"

I will definitely go and see her perform again.

Charlotte is an acoustic guitar singer songwriter, no heavy metal and will not appeal to all on this forum but to anyone who appreciates good music and wants a change she is well worth going to South Shields to see. Find out more at http://www.myspace.com/yannicharlotte

We both thoroughly enjoyed the short set.

Bluehouse are a well established female duo, formerly a trio, who have a big gay following and have some impressive quotes on their web site from Rolling Stone magazine etc.

One on bass and one on acoustic guitar they looked very much like Cagney and Lacey but the darker one of that TV duo was somewhat heavier than her musical double here.

All of their material was self penned except a couple written by mates and an impressive cover of "I heard it through the grapevine" which showcased their individual voices and perfect harmonies, and one other cover, "Only You".

Hi guys,

here it is
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
 " YANNI LIVE ONCE"

Where did that come from????
Well, there are 3 meanings for it,

- Yanni is my family name......

- The geordie ( north east lingo) accent ( Yanni = You only)

- My favourite expression is Carpe Diem which means "Seize the Say" so there, you've got it...." you only live once" so take advantage of it!!!!

And by the way, I didnt find that name by myself, my friend Ian made a DVD with the photos of my family when they came over for my 30th b'day and at the back of the DVD, he wrote "Yanni Live Once" and I thought straight away, it would do a great name for a band so I kept it secret for 9 months (and no I didnt have a secret baby in that time!!! haha)........,and there it is, that band is now real...and rehearsing for gigs to come...and they will....believe me  !!!!!  thanks Ian !!

Right myspace amigos, this is the story and remember......"YANNI  LIVE  ONCE" !!!!!!

Lots of love

Charlotte Yanni ;-)
