After the last cliffhanger of an update I'm sure you'll all be pleased to hear that my MP3 player is now back in action.

Soooo, tonight is indeed the night of the last Dacoits show of 2009.  Certain individual Dacoits may well be taking part in the amazing annual "12 bands of Christmas**" event in Swindon later this year, but for anyone thinking 'I really need to see those Dacoits live before the year is out' tonight is your last chance.

Whilst un-named bandmates are off gallivanting around the globe I'll have to think of something else to write about I suppose...

See you later,

P.x

** More nailbiting news on the 12 Bands of Christmas to follow soon.

Good Afternoon,

Due to Neil's ever expanding e-commerce skills you can now buy The Dacoits album online.  If you follow this link like some kind of digital breadcrumb trail, then you can find magical ways to buy physical and computery versions of our debut record.  I realise that 'computery' isn't the right terminology, but all this downloading may well be taking the romance out of the fine art of CD buying.  Not wishing to detract from those of you who like a download though, I'm told it is waaaay better for the environment.  It's really just because I'm bitter about losing my MP3 player.

Back to the Discman and fond memories of simpler times for me.

So basically, get the album in whichever way you prefer, we'll love you either way.  In fact, Pete will love you for a tenner and a packet of malteasers, but that's a different story for another time.

So, one more gig to go before we call it a day until 2010, it's gonna be a special hard rocking farewell to 2009 at Bradon Forest Theatre, I think there's some more details to be had here.

You'd think that I'd check these links before posting them up but you'd be thinking wrong.  It's that kind of maverick devil may care attitude that got me into this mess in the first place.

See you soon,

P.x

Good Afternoon,

Just a quickie to say thanks to everyone who came along to The Dacoits/Dirty Feel/Hotel 75 gig last week, we hope you enjoyed the rock show.  The album seems to have been going down well thus far and we've had our first review courtesy of those hard rocking pirates at www.ragdollmagazine.co.uk, have a look around whilst you're there, they do good work.

There's a few more gigs lined up before some of us go our separate ways for Christmas holidaying, so we'll hopefully see you then.

There were at least two slices of prime innuendo in that update that I chose to ignore, maybe signalling the fact that I'm growing as a person.

Cheers,

P.x

Hello,

Just a quick note to let you know that the gig in Bristol on the 26th of November has been cancelled.  Sorry for any inconvenience but it's out of our hands, hopefully it will be rescheduled shortly.  Special apologies to any Bristolian dancing bears who were planning on coming out to see us.

Cheers,

P.x

Went to see Zombieland at the cheap Tuesday cinema last week, great fun was had all round.  I managed to resist the lure of overpriced ice cream which was a real moral victory for me.

So, there's no sign of dancing bears yet but www.thedacoits.co.uk will be happening soon, mark my words.  Plus, I think that the usage of dancing bears as a promotional tool probably classes as animal cruelty and The Dacoits want no part in that world.  In fact, the only time you will see dancing bears in the context of our music is if the bears choose to dance voluntarily.  If you're reading this and you happen to be a bear with a passion for dance then please feel free to drop us a line and get involved, we'd love to hear from you.  Perhaps you could pop to the Victoria public house in Swindon on Thursday night to pick up a copy of the new album and show us some moves?

Hopefully see you there,

P.

Soooo, we're keeping our eyes on the letterbox, eagerly awaiting the delivery of the freshly baked Dacoits album from those lovely folks at the pressing plant.  Although I doubt that many albums would actually fit through the letterbox, unless they sent them all individually, which is fairly unlikely as it would cost a fortune in jiffy bags.
Anyways, the plan is to have the album available for the first time ever at our gig with The Dirty Feel and Hotel 75, hosted within the heartwarming confines of The Vic in Swindon.

The Vic.  Thursday the 5th November, be there with bells on*.

Now that the albums done, it's time to start work on the second album.  Actually it's time to start playing some more gigs, which currently look a lot like this:

28th Oct  - The Wheatsheaf, Oxford.
29th October - Fat Lils, Witney
5th November - The Vic, Swindon
7th November - The Little George, Chippenham
20th November - Bradon Forest School, Swindon
26th November - The Louisiana, Bristol

Hopefully see you there.  We should also have our brand new website up and running soon: www.thedacoits.co.uk, neil has promised dancing bears, so it'll be interesting to see how that pans out.

Cheers,

P.X

* bells are optional, probably best to leave them at home.

Current mood:  devious

Firstly on a non Dacoitsian note; if anyone can explain to me why the gang of victims in that Harpers Island TV program didn’t seize any of the ten thousand opportunities they had to shoot the serial killer then I’d be one happy bunny.  And when those two dudes sprang the cunning trap and actually managed to pull the trigger on the side of said serial killers head then why did he only have a small graze?  Did anyone else actually watch Harpers Island?   Don’t watch TV, it’s a frustrating pursuit.

Anyways, on a more relevant and fulfilling note, excitement is in the air at Team Dacoits as the album is actually finished.  All done, pencils down and face the front quietly.  Admittedly, certain Dacoits seem to have lost more of their already slipping grasp on reality due to mixing desk confinement, but it’s all been worthwhile in the long run.  So here’s some fascinating Dacoits debut album facts that are still subject to change and are thusly fairly useless:  It has 11 tracks, clocks in around 40 minutes, has some tasty looking artwork and will be stuffed to the gills with 1000% RDA of satisfying and nutritious rock action.  I don’t know the details like how much it will cost to buy a copy and whether we’ll make our self imposed deadline of November the 5th, but we’ll leak these facts to the press accordingly over the next few weeks in thinly veiled attempt at contemporary hype building.

More news very soon....

Good Afternoon,

Why are Mondays such hard work? I was just about to go for a wander and I swear it actually started raining on cue.  Although that three day bank holiday weekend thing that just flew past seemed popular, I think we definitely need some more of those on the calendar.  A few times a year just doesn't seem quite enough.  I don't think it would do the Government's tattered reputation much harm to make these things a more regular occurrence either.  Win/Win.

In other news: We're still all huddled around a hot mixing desk tweaking and adding dramatic noises to what will soon become TODA.  We're not actually calling it TODA, as that's a silly name, but it's a cheap and effective way of making you go back and read my previous updates to find out what I'm on about.

To be honest it's probably mildly unfair to say 'we' when it's actually Carrie and Pete doing the majority of the huddling around the faders, but we're helping when we can.  All I can say is that it's all shaping up to be a quenching musical smoothy for thirsty ears.

Thanks to everyone who has come out to see us over the last month or two, these recent shows have been amazing fun so big shout outs to everyone who has come along and sung, danced, or given us free beer.

There'll be few more shows coming up once we're done with the mixing and we should have some new tunes ready to introduce to the world, so we'll hopefully see you again then.

So that's it for now really: album, gigs, new songs and a distinct lack of sarcasm on my part.

Much love,

Phil
