Oh Goodmorning

I just woke up in Passau way too early to walk across a lovely bridge and fill the 8 a.m. parking meeter.  Trying to please the parking gods.  Oh.  So far Marko and I have been driving through misty fall landscapes, having conversation and listening to Buddenbrocks by Thomas Mann.  So being literary even when we drive.  The shows have been everything from classy in Magdeburg, to family style in Karlsruhe, to rocking in Passau.  Passau -- it is like a magic word.  They are so endlessly generous and attentive here.  And it is beautiful with the rivers and historic architecture.  My mind is still all jumbled from all the new lyrics, but I am on the brink of having the words emblazoned in my mind.  On the brink.  I am still stumbling.  And singing German songs makes me feel all German.  Funny feeling, but I am going to explore this further. I also learned something new from Herti yesterday.  Rubbing ones ears makes one feel all warm.  To my total excitement -- it works.  So now I can't stop rubbing my ears.  Oh.

So the tea is getting cold and I am back across the bridge for some breakfast.  Onward.  That Susie Asado

Haven't heard of 'BerlinSong'? Here's what it's about:

BerlinSong is a music documentary featuring Kat Frankie, Crazy For Jane, Fancie, Nathan Vanderpool, Einar Stenseng and Tommy Simatupang.

BerlinSong is a story about six musicians from Berlin's vibrant music scene. They came to Berlin from the US, Norway, the Netherlands and Australia and somehow made the city their home. Filmmaker Uli M Schueppel made the artists show him what their very own place in Berlin is and asked each of them to write a song about the city. These reflections and projections on Berlin (or specifically Kreuzberg) merge with the writing process of the songs, recording in the studio and the preparation for a concert with all artists in the club "West Germany". Berlin Song is a poetic portrait of these musicians and at the same time, an atmospheric journey into the myth that is Berlin.

BerlinSong was selected for the 57th Berlin International Film Festival.

The soundtrack to the film, featuring the songs from Fancie, Crazy for Jane, Einar Stenseng, Nathan Vanderpool, Tomi Simatupang and Kat Frankie will be released the first week of September through Solaris Empire. www.solaris-empire.de

Current mood:  adventurous
Hello Everyone,

some of you may know that Susie Asado is also Crazy for Jane. That is when Josepha and her brother Phil and sometimes various friends get together to serenade the one they call Jane. Phil has turned into a studius university goer, so we have been playing shows sporadically and since Phil is off to the States until the end of the year, August will be the last opportunity for a while to see us be disgustingly sweet singing siblings. Here is the list of shows:

August 12th KÖLN Schnapsfabrik
August 13th FRANKFURT / M Dreikönigskeller
August 14th KASSEL Der Salon
August 15th HAMBURG Hasenschaukel
August 19th KIEL Prinz Willy
August 20th LEIPZIG Café Panam
August 21st BERLIN Schokoladen

Dear Friends,

I am super excited to send you a link to the "Hello Antenna" music video by Veronika Samartseva and Anna Samoylovich. It is a very special film and I would love it if you take a few minutes to dive into this magical world of Susie, her mother and the royal family, of antenna and airplanes and one big explosion. Please pass it on to friends and watch it with your kids and neighbors. If you want to find out more about the filmmakers or invite "Hello Antenna" to your T.V. show, film-festival, museum, or house show please send me an email at susieasadorocks@gmail.com or send a myspace message.

Hello Antenna to all of you. Your Susie Asado

Hello Everyone!

I just finished unpacking from my tour with June Madrona. It was all glamour and fancy dresses and I'm going to spare you the details of my runny nose, sleeping on floors and the way my hands always go cold before a show. Whatever they said about "cold feet" certainly applies to my hands. You try playing guitar with cold hands. But I've heard from reliable sources that after a year or two of cold hands one does not have cold hands anymore. At least not right before going on stage. Do you believe that? I'm grateful for any advice on this. The more reliable and unreliable sources the better. (I've tried jumping up and down, hot drinks, clapping, rubbing hands, sucking fingers, pretending playing piano, praying, spells, gloves . . . )

Anyways, during the month of November, from the 20th until the 1st of December to be precise, I am going on tour with a Song Slam in Germany. It is a girl song slam. So I will be taking my pretty frocks with me and painting my nails. I will be on tour with Heidi Marie Vestrheim, Dancer vs. Politician, and the most awesome Ava and the Hawkline Monster. There will be one more local musician in every city. I have never thought of myself as competitive, but I have been known to turn into a money monster beast during Monopoly, so who knows what this kind of environment will bring out in me. So if you are curious, like I am, then you might consider coming out to one of these shows if you happen to be in any of these geographies. www.myspace.com/songslam

What else. Well I'm always making plans and one of them is to do a tour with the lovely Sibsi in January in the States. I will fly to New York on the 30th of December, dance myself silly on New Years, hopefully play a few shows and then fly to L.A. on the 7th of January. Then there will be some shows up the coast until the end of the month. If you want more details, send me letters. If you want to see us play, send me letters and maybe we can work something out.

So much for Susie. Sweet sweet sweet sweet sweet tea to everyone. Bang, Susie Asado
