Greetings and salutations. The march of progress has come to fruition with the long awaited unveiling of Watson's new website, www.watsonatkinson.com. On the site you will find his current tattoo portfolio and an extensive archive of work from painting and assemblage to performance and installation. Search deeper and you will find hidden passages throughout the site.

If you have not yet visited the site then please take a moment to journey into the artwork of Watson Atkinson.

Bonjour, mon ami. I'm here to show you how to put a banner on your facebook and/or myspace page to promote Watson's new website, www.watsonatkinson.com. This process will be fairly simple for myspace. It is a bit more involved for facebook, but it will only take about five minutes of work if you're diligent. Plus you can use it for many other promotional purposes. Ready? Here we go:

For myspace
From your home page, highlight the profile tab and click on edit profile. You can place the banner anywhere you like, but I suggest putting it in your "about me" or "who I'd like to meet" section. The banner is large and it will fit in those sections nicely. Copy and paste this code into either of those sections (don't forget to save the changes as well):

This will place the banner on your myspace page. Anyone that is looking at your page can click on the banner and it will take them directly to the site in a new window. Nice, no? If you're HTML savvy and you would like to resize the banner, you are free to do that as well. If you don't know how, google "html tutorial" and you'll find plenty of sites to show you the way.

For facebook
There is currently no html editing option on facebook. As great as facebook is, it doesn't have the flexibility that myspace offers in this department. But I digress...

The point is that you'll have to download an application that will give you a small section on your facebook page to add html. To download the application to your facebook page, go to http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=6165549526 to download Profile HTML for facebook.

Open the application after you've downloaded it. Delete all of the pre-programmed code that came with the application, then copy and paste this code in that space:

Unfortunately, facebook doesn't give you much space to work with. I resized the banner to compensate for this. It will still work in the same manner as the banner for myspace. When someone clicks on the image, it will open a new page that directs them to Watson's website.

So there you go. That didn't hurt too much, did it? Have fun with it, and thanks for adding the banner to your site!
