We're very sad to say that THE DYING has to cancel their show at the "Rock Against Child Abuse Benefit" show this saturday in Roeselare.
Our lead guitarplayer Dirk got caught by the Mexican flue and will not be able to shred like a mad man this weekend.
Because their are no other options available on this short notice, we have to decide to cancel our perfomance.

We're very sorry for this cancellation, but we hope to be a part of it next year...

THE DYING is working on new songs, and will be offstage for a while to focus on the new material that's comin' up somewhere in 2010!
Some songs are allready finished and we can assure you... Again they will bring you some hard-shredding-pure-thrashing-madness.

Endorsements:

Koen and Dirk joined the JACKSON bloodline
Special thanks goes out to Chris Cannella (Jackson USA), Oliver Schwung and Frank Diesveld (Fender Germany)

Koen's words on this:
Since I was a kid I wanted a Jackson. When I bought the "tribute"-album of Ozzy with the picture of Randy Rhoads and his guitar, I knew those were the guitars I had to have. A few years later I bought a Jackson with my first hard earned money and I never stopped using Jackson since then. My Kelly 2 is filling a hole in the sound that I didn't know as there. Jackson is the canon in our warmachine. And so I am very very happy to work with a company that defines metalguitars for me.

Ben joined the GRETSCH and GIBRALTAR Family

Special thanks goes out to Carsten Dannert (Fender Germany)

Ben's words on this:
A dream became reality! Getting supported by Gretsch and Gibraltar!
I'm playing Gretsch drums for a long time now, and in my opinion these are the best Drumkit-builders ever!
The sound, the power, and the extreme durability makes Gretsch the most fantastic sounding drumkit!
Keeping this powerhouse on the road for a long time is a heavy duty, so therefor I'm using
Gibraltar racks and hardware... It's the perfect gear for me to keep all the metal madness in control !
I just love the G's !!!!

Allmost December 5th, Drakkar is rereleasing 'Triumph Of Tragedy' this weekend! You can order it online at LARGE POPMERCHANDISING, EMP ONLINE, FAN4Z, and in ITunes. Running up to this date it has been pretty hectic with all the promotalk that goes with the release. Great! And next week we're heading for Spain to do a first little TOT-promo tour. All our Spanish friends, please check the showsection to see if we'll thrash in a city near you! It'll be fun! Furthermore we're working on more supportshows and tour in the beginning of 2009. Everything will be revealed in due time.

Supporting Slayer was nothing less then awesome! We had a great time and it was great to see allready so many people at such an early hour. We had a chance to meet a lot of cool people, were treated amazing and received a lot of good critics. Thanks to all!

The Dying has a Facebook and Ilike page nowadays. If you're on there, do us a favor and add us!

 Later!

Tuesday, November 04, 2008
Allright! November 12th we're supporting fuckin' SLAYER. Their Unholy Alliance passes by the Lotto Arena in Antwerp, with support acts Trivium, Mastodon and Amon Amarth. And us off course! How come? TMF and Stubru selected us, Battalion and Spoil Engine as possible openers for Slayer and out of those 3 bands, Slayer ('s management) chose us to open the evening! Needless to say we are overexcited with this opportunity. Even though we're opening early in the evening, we will thrash the stage like we're used too! We'll hit the stage at 17h45 sharp so try to come to the show early and party with us!

Hey! It's been ages since we've informed all of you on what's going on over here! We promised to do this more regularly but we're a bunch of occupied fuckers apparently.

We've been at it like crazy past months, thrashing and partying, roadtripping through Denmark with Morda and chilling to the tunes of DeathMagnetic.

But the most exciting news is that Triumph Of Tragedy will be re-released in Europe by the German label Drakkar Records ! We're stoked about this and are looking forward to our colaboration. This will certainly take us to a higher level and one step closer to world domination! This is what Marius the boss has to say about us joining his roster:

Belgium's spearheading thrash metal act, THE DYING, have just been signed by Drakkar Records. "We are delighted to have this promising band on our roster for the whole of Europe, with the exception of the Benelux countries," comments label chief Marius Kopec with enthusiasm. Musically, THE DYING take no prisoners. Tough-as-nails guitars, furious drums and amazing vocals are the main ingredients of their interpretation of the New Wave Of Thrash Metal. A real treat for all fans of thrash icons such as Slayer, Exodus and Kreator, combined with At The Gates' legendary Gothenburg-style melodic metal and Pantera's direct, in-your-face metal.

So yeah, we're now labelbuddies with acts like Nightwish, Ensiferum, Misery Speaks, Lordi and many more. Pretty cool!!!

That's all there needs to be said right now. When there's more, we'll let you know. Meanwhile, be sure to head out to one of our shows, or to one of Biohazards shows!

The supportshows for Arch Enemy and Aiden are over unfortunately, but they were a blast. Thanks to everybody that showed up early to thrash with us, it was awesome! Off course we did a lot more shows last month which were all great, but we don't have the opportunity to chill with half of Carcass every day haha.

We've received a bunch of pictures from these shows that we have uploaded to The-Dying.com and Myspace along with some old pics from way back when... They're so cool we couldn't just keep them to ourselves. Go take a look! Thanks to the photographers who've sent them in!

We're almost out of 'Triumph Of Tragedy' merch! We're working on some new designs and goodies which will be for sale soon. If you still want one of the TOT designs but can't make to one of our shows I suggest you visit our merchsection now.

This weekend we're thrashing close to home again, at the Sjakelrock festival. This is going to be a superb show, so come on over! Next week we'll destroy Amsterdam and the Sirkonflex in Zedelgem! Hope to see you all at one of these gigs!

Allright! There's a reason why we haven't posted any news for about a month and that is that we have been very busy! We've played a lot of cool shows in Belgium, Holland, Germany and Poland. And we're not stopping, we've got a lot of cool shows in the near future! We've been asked to support Textures and the allmighty ARCH ENEMY on their Belgian date in Hof Ter Loo, Antwerp, next Monday. We're thrilled to thrash in a venue like this and chill with half of Carcass. Monday after that we're supporting Aiden at VK in Brussels. Completely different show, but it will rock none the less! Hope to see you all at one of these gigs!

First reviews for Triumph Of Tragedy are coming in and it's cool to see that also the press appreciates our newest offspring. Click here if you want to know what some had to say about it. If you stumble across some more, mail 'em in!

Our webstore is also online, finally! Hit the link and spend some of your hard-earned cash!

Rock Tribune

Until last year the Belgian band Chimaera had the same band name as the American one, and because of the confusion they decided to change their name to The Dying, a song from At The Gates. Not a bad choice because there is clearly a lot influence of the Göteborg metal scene in the destructive metal from these guys. In comparison to their last album 'Stygian' (by Chimaera), the impressive progression of singer Jan and drummer Ben really stand out. Together with the machinegun riffing of the guitar players and the flawless production by Ace Zec they lift 'Triumph Of Tragedy' to a higher level! Even more, with this excellent performance The Dying can easily demolish a lot of the foreign metal bands, regardless their studio and marketing budget. This album will stay in my cd player for quiet a while!

From the ashes of what once was Chimaera, arises The Dying. And this name switch means getting rid of the half-hearted metalcore and focussing on the essence. The Dying plays all-out metal, which can be compared to later Exodus. Thrash metal for tuff men, leaning on Slayer, the early twin attacks of Metallica and a bit of Swedish stuff, besides the predominant influence of Exodus. It sounds modern, without evoking associations with myspace, gay looks and teenage girls going wild like they're at a Backstreet Boys show. No, this ain't no clueless Bring Me The Horizon-like waste of time. These guys know what metal should be and that's what they do. It never gets genre-defining, it's mostly recycling the metal of old. But what's important is that it is entertaining. And paradoxically, despite being really traditional, The Dying sounds rejuvenated and fresh in the current wasteland of over-compressed productions of flat and tasteless mosh metal.

Honestly, how can you not be proud to be a Belgian when you discover an album like this? Than you definitely don't know The Dying. Here's a little presentation. This Belgian formation was founded in 2001 and consists of five guys that adore thrash. Last year, they signed a contract with Eye Spy records from Bruges.
Last January, the band presented their debut album 'Triumph Of Tragedy'. It turns out to be one hell of a record!
Like I said before, the guys of The Dying love thrash and from the very first notes of the intro "The Beginning Of The End" you can clearly hear the influence of old school thrash bands like Exodus, Slayer or Testament.
But by the end of the cd, you have to admit the band has also another background, being straight to point metal bands like At The Gates or Pantera.
These are the main ingredients for this piece of dynamite. There are no fillers on this one! For example, let's take the song 'Gotham'. The riffs are shredding, the rhythmical variations are subtle and impressive, the vocals are mostly outrageous, but also laid back from time to time, without forgetting a very melodic guitar break.
All the songs are of the same breed, technically superior, with lots of emotions that give us intense moments of joy like the chorus of 'Serpent', the intro of 'Scarred Like Us' and the heavy rhythms of 'Killing The Drama' and 'Scarred Like Us'.
The production of the album can easily compete with the greater albums in this genre. You can clearly hear the sound of the legendary Göteborg style, meaning powerful and clear at the same time.
We can confirm that the thrash metal scene is reviving at this moment and that Belgium will not be excluded. As long as there will be bands like The Dying, the future of thrash metal is assured!
Do yourself a favor and buy this album right away!
Vinnie

Der Opener The Beginning Of The End ist ein sehr gelungenes Instrumental Intro, das direkt in Scars And Stripes Mündet.
