Hello fortunettes,

our german ventures continue......moving on from the dog emu debate, calum has decided to channel his energy into establishing a healthy gambling addiction... describing himself a "poker sensation" and is spending most of his spare time either bullying other band mates into staying up late to gamble, or hitting the internet cafe for some party poker.

Despite a small band intervention, Sam continues to be intent on spending all his gig money by running up an astronomical phone bill.... but fear not, he thinks he might have some sort of international thing, so it might be a bit cheaper! GO SAM!

Graham has continued his perfect attendance at breakfast, however over the last few days has reached the conclusion that despite having great ham and cheese, the ACHAT hotel coffee is pretty crap... take note guys. The hotel prounonciation debate still continues - kuyt is adamant its ACCHHAT - however we tend to be alternating between - A HAT - A CHAT - and a ruder one.

After we gave our cleaning ladies free t-shirts and cds, they have suspicously swapped floors and we now have 2 spanish girls who are also overly-friendly and possibly want to strip us of even more merchandise..... more likely our existing maids were fed up with our inability to get up at a reasonable hour and have mislead the senioritas into thinking the 4th floor is the place to be.

Gigging this week has been most fun. another gig at cafe stolls in wiesloch, gardens in sinheim and the riverboat shuffle on the reine. The boat was a well good laugh, we had our pals olli roth and renne walker supporting us, and despite some wild turning on the river, it was pretty rockin.

Our german has also been going from strength to strength - we can now order white wine and "Can ish dish na houser bringen" has become a popular phrase

Have a nice weekend

Gutentag,

It is Sunday and we have just been to a German beer brewery to find out how they make that shit. It's like 90% water and they use the best water in the world (!) from deep deep underground and then add hops and sugar and blossom from some plant which smells funny. We wandered through the brewery and it was interesting and educational. Then at the end of the tour we had 1 hour of free drinking in a pleasant bar with kidney shaped tables and lots of cacti. We got to pour our chosen beer from the tap ourselves and we felt very special. In the background we had some classic German crooners singin' classics and some Ray Charles playing.

Did zou know that in the Germanz the z key is where the y kez should be? zou didn't? Zou haven't lived.

We have been playing cards this afternoon and Calum sold his soul again. This is getting tedious.

Tonight we are playing another gig so we are going to try some sleep to get rid of the drunken feeling and the soulsnapping presence of Auld Nick in the six-string department.

re.. emu/dog debate ..the emu would win. It has a sharp beak and also (apparently} it can use its feet to stamp the shit out of dogs. The emu showed no sign of fear and seemed quite willing to fight ("square go"} If there had not been a large chicken wire fence between the two, the result would have been a carnage to behold and , I think, a win by the emu. Turkeys, by the way are ridiculous, and our friend watched the battle from a seperate pen uttering nothing except, "dooobloobloooblooblooble" - ridiculous.

We thought it would be a good idea to keep a diary about what we´ve been up to over here so here goes....

On Monday we went to a TV channel called RNF and procrastinated for a few hours in a studio waiting to appear live in front of up to 3.5 million Germans! Our time, however, was not wasted because we got to sit in the "big chair" and play at being Jonathan Ross. Brilliant!

We'll put the video on the net as soon as we can (be bothered)

Yesterday we played a gig in a mini zoo (a bit like the one that used to be in linn park- if you have no idea what linn park was like then you'll just have to use your imagination!) We watched a dog/emu fight which was excellent but there was no clear winner- although my money was on the dog.... definately. Graham disagreed. The gig was really good fun and was fuelled in the mainpart by double Jagermeisters.

Today we have had horrendous hangovers.

That's it for now. Calum x

Hello fortunettes,

we are the worlds worst at writing blogs, but on the eve of our 2 week tour of germany, we figure what the hell, lets have a bash at this internetical craze as were not going to see you for a while... unless you live in south west germany that is.....

Our last trip to Deuchland started off in the worst possible way; a speeding fine on the way to preswick, missing our flights, using all our spending money to buy new flights, then sleeping on the concrete floor overnight at Frankfurt Hahn Airport as we had missed our driver...... one cant help but think missing a flight departing at 9pm really takes being laid back to a new level.

We are thus determined that tomorrow shall be different.........

We have a whole host of gigs, tv interviews, radio sessions, so we shall keep you up to date with how we get on.....

.....and if the good people of germany ever finally understand a word that calum says
