Hi folks, First of all, another massive thank you to everyone who helped out with the Heavy Low tour in March / April. Whether you came to the shows, played with us (eer... musically), or helped in some other way, we really do appreciate it!
In other news, after no small delay, the Heavy Low EP is now available on itunes - follow the link on our profile to buy it and take it with you wherever you may go with your computer / ipod. The EP remains downloadable from amplifier.co.nz as well, and is available for physical purchase from the dunedinmusic.com store - both of which are linked from our myspace.
We're currently writing / consolidating songs for what will likely be our first full-length album, due out this year - we're starting to plan the recording process - gear, venues, assistant engineers, refreshments(!?) - we'll let you know when we finally get down to business. Meanwhile, see you all at a show soon (Dunedin! ReFuel Wednesday June 17, btw).
Here's the itunes link, for those of you who can't be bothered with clicking the 'back' button (fair enough, too).
Cheers, (Mike) -Made in China

Couple of reviews found online at various places: Review by Richard Sheppard of www.stonerdoom.co.nz
This 5 track debut EP is impressive. There's a nice combination of styles done convincingly with excellent vocals and stand-out musicianship. The production job is particularly good, the levels are great and all instruments are clear, giving it more of an accessible big rock sound than a dirty sound as you may expect. The Aussie band 'Ancient Man' or QotSA are good reference points, stoner/doom savvy rock with well-paced song structures embued with just enough pop sensibility to provide hooks that sink in.
A couple of tracks have a noticeably slower sludgier sound, particularly the closing track 'Negotiator'. On discussing them with Matt from Arc of Ascent he rightly pointed out a slight Goatsnake sound, which is more evident on these tracks, doom with charismatic rock vocals.
The playing is super-tight, there is balanced control and interplay between the players. The guitar work is excellent without being over-powering or over-done, particularly the lead work. I can hear that hard work has been put into making sure this EP sounds professional and makes an impression on the first listen, subsequantly I have high expectations of their live show which I will definitely be catching around these ways this month.

BAND: MADE IN CHINA RECORDING: HEAVY LOW EP RELEASED: 2008 Formed in 2006, Dunedin Heavy Rock outfit MADE IN CHINA have done a couple of tours of the South Island to date, the most recent being as part of SINATE’s final tour of NZ. Notorious for delivering one hell of a live show this band obviously made an impression on SINATE too with SINATE being the people who sent this CD - the ‘Heavy Low EP’ through to NZRock. After hearing it we agree! Nicely recorded ‘The Heavy Low EP’ offers five Heavy Rock recording which on first impression hark back to to the good ol’ days of 90s Grunge. Tracks like ‘C# Chug’ remind me of a cross between NIRVANA’s ‘Negative Creep’ and ‘God Smack’ by ALICE IN CHAINS… other tracks have hints of bands like SILVERCHAIR and HELMET but without labelling this whole release as being Grunge there’s also a great classic Hard Rock / Blues vibe in there as well on tracks like ‘Fast Layne’. Great recording, looking forward to hearing an album from these guys!Find the original here: http://nzrock.com/modules/wordpress/?p=608

Hi, As you should be aware, Made in China released the Heavy Low E.P. on May 7 2008, at one massive release party. If you weren't there and want to get hold of a copy, there are several ways you can do this. 1) - Come to a gig and buy one there. 2) - Get tracks, or hard copies of the CD online from www.dunedinmusic.com, www.amplifier.com and more sites to come. 3) - Head to Real Groovy Dunedin and get a copy there. We're in the process of making the E.P. as easy to get as possible, so keep your eyes peeled. If you already have a copy, or just like us lots, then please request and vote for "Heavy Low" on radio 1 (www.r1.co.nz/top11.php). 'Till next time, Peace. -Mike & M.I.C.

Current mood: animated
'allo... First of all thanks to everyone who's made it along to an M.I.C. show in 08. You've been great. No really. If you haven't, we're playing 3 shows in the next week in Dunedin. Come.
On the recording front, plans are afoot to release something very very soon, (I know, we've been saying that for ages, but this time we mean it!), it may be an ep soon and then a big super-duper album later in the year, but we'll let you know.
To all those who've been lucky / kind enough to get hold of one of the 'mixtape' type cd's we've been flicking off at gigs, we welcome feedback. If there's a song that you really like, and want to hear properly released pronto, or something that you want to bitch about, tell us! Leave a comment on this blog or the m.space page & we'll get back to you.
Finally, the myspace page is undergoing a bit of an overhaul. Apart from what is / will be obvious, things you should note are:
1) We now spell our name differently. We got sick of people asking 'are you like, Iron Maiden fans, or, like something!?
2) Hence, our MYSPACE ADDRESS HAS CHANGED[!]. you can now get to this page from anywhere by typing:
www.myspace.com/madeinchinabandnz
Thanks for reading, see you soon.
Peace. -Mike & M.I.C.
