www.cravemagazine.com Taken Under is a five-piece metal/hardcore act that hails from middle Tennessee. With the in your face intensity of Terror and the pure brutality and heaviness of Full Blown Chaos, Taken Under displays a unique blend of old-school/modern hardcore with a true metal edge. "Silence Your Enemies" is comprised of five bone-breaking hardcore anthems that will straight kick your teeth in!
"Silence Your Enemies" opens with a quiet but dark movie clip intro, and then instantly tears into the heavy hitting "Try To Kill This". Vocally, front man Mark, attacks with an aggressive and brutal command that will compel the listener to destroy anything that is in their way. Guitarists Pookie and Steve pave the way with blistering riffs and breakdowns, followed by the solid bass playing of Russ, and compounded with the earth shattering double bass drumming of Jason. "Striking Back" and "The Corruptor" keep the engine moving into an endless mosh pit that will ignite any crowd. "The Odds Just Got Even" is one of the strongest songs on the album and transitions smoothly from thrash to groove. The album closes with the brutal anthem "Blueprint For The End", and will leave the listener wanting to hear more and putting it on repeat.
In a scene with so many bands trying to sound like everyone else, it is refreshing to hear a band with the raw intensity and the pure brutality that Taken Under unleashes on "Silence Your Enemies". For fans of Terror, Full Blown Chaos, Hatebreed, Sworn Enemy and Figure Four, I highly recommend that you pick up this album and prepare to be Taken Under!

Tennessee's Taken Under play a back-to-basics form of metallic hardcore not unlike Hatebreed, Terror, or maybe First Blood. Silence Your Enemies is the band's debut EP release featuring six tracks, one of which is a brief little intro, so this is a very concise little disc that runs around 14 minutes with absolutely no frills to be found.
For the most part you can expect burly, chugging riff patterns with some quicker thrashy riffing dispersed throughout, and the rare lick that comes off completely "metal." In general the band is on the brutal side of the hardcore spectrum as opposed to a more energetic punk-fueled sound, though there are some speedy sections that keep this from being an all out chug fest. They have no catchy choruses, no attempts at mixing in death metal, no clean vocals… just chugging, power-chord riffs with basic progressions and gruff yelling. Simple as that.
Taken Under don't do anything to try to be different or make themselves stand out, but I think that's probably the way they want it. Silence Your Enemies is simple, heavy hardcore for fans of simple, heavy hardcore. Nothing more, nothing less.

www.scenepointblank.com/reviews/1379Tennessee hardcore. I know what you're thinking; you thought everyone from Tennessee that was into music plays country. Well you're wrong. Although, the five gentlemen that comprise Taken Under may also dabble at playing country as a side-gig for all I know. Silence Your Enemies is the band's debut effort and is six songs (one intro and five actual songs) of bruising hardcore. Soundwise, the band compares to like-minded brethren in Hoods and Will to Live. There are no sappy choruses or any wannabe blastbeats, just straight forward hardcore. If you're into that, you'll enjoy this EP. If straight up hardcore is not your thing, look elsewhere.

Silence Your Enemies is the new EP by Taken Under from from Nashville. Although I must say considering the quality of the recordings I would have labeled this as a demo. Especially track 2 sounds awfull. But let's forget the recordings and focus on the songs. Taken Under plays mosh. But not the standard chuggah chuggah metalcore most bands play these days. Rather think of bands like Full Blow Chaos, Terror and Clenched Fist. These 5 songs are not renewing or inventive in any way whatsoever. Taken Under took the before mentioned bands, put them in a blender and this is what they ended up with. Although the production sucks these tracks do sound raw, energetic and real. Just like Cast Aside did on their EP did for instance. Maybe Taken Under isn't renewing, and maybe this is by far the best release in this genre... for some reason the songs stick inside my head and I think this is an "enjoyable" album. Which sounds kinda strange considering this is an hardcore album. Nevertheless I do think that this band has got potential and I will try to keep an eye on them...

Tennessee is known for alot of things but one of them isn't Hardcore that's for damned sure, but it's not because the bands aren't there, they are. The first of the bunch to break thru is a young band called Taken Under who've shared the stage with Full Blown Chaos, Living Sacrifice, Six Feet Under and a whole lot more. The band has just signed with High Fidelity Records to release their debut EP, Silence Your Enemies.
I can't say I'm a big fan of Taken Under after hearing Silence Your Enemies. Don't get me wrong, the album is good as is the band, I'm just not a fan of today's Hardcore music. Despite the band's best effort to be original and nonconforming, this album sounds like a younger version of Hatebreed or First Blood. Some will fall all over themselves for it and that's a positive for the band. While people like me who enjoy leadbreaks and polished recordings won't enjoy it so much. The stand out tracks to check out are "Try To Kill This" and "The Odds Just Got Even". Give the band a look and get a taste of the ferociousness Tennessee is breeding.
