Day 3

Day 3 of our Ireland trip included a day tour of Limerick, Bunratty Castle, Doolin, Cliffs of Moher, The Burren, Galway Bay and taking a train back from Galway to Dublin. oh yeah, and lots of rain!

Day 4-5

Day 4 of my Dublin, Ireland vacation was a nice day filled with museums, galleries, churches and yes, even more walking! Kristen and I first went to the National Museum of Ireland, which was located by Merrion Square. It offered up a nice collection of ancient Celtic jewelry, clothing, shoes, and weapons. They had a great Viking exhibit there as well. I liked that part of the most because I just love seeing old weapons and swords, plus seeing cracked human skulls was pretty damn cool!

Day 6

Day 6 of our Dublin, Ireland vacation was spent in the seaside towns of Malahide and Howth. If you plan on spending any time in Dublin, I highly recommend spending a day or two outside the city and explore the seaside villages & towns. I particularly loved Howth and wish I spent the day there instead of just a half day.

Day 2 of Dublin was a great day. Kristen and I got a lot accomplished after getting a night’s rest. We purchased a Dublin Pass for a day, which pays for a bunch of attractions and stuff in Dublin. It was well worth getting it if you plan on using it. We ended up going to the Dublin Zoo, Kilmainham Goal, Guinness Storehouse and St Patrick’s Cathedral.

I finally went to one of the places I always wanted to visit, Ireland! My girlfriend Kristen and I just got back from Dublin on Monday and I have over 2000 photos to go through. I’ll have seperate blog posts on each day I visited Ireland. These photos are from the first day, where we landed early in the morning. I didn’t get much sleep on the plane, maybe 15 minutes of sleep? But for some reason, I was functioning for most of the day.  After we got our hotel room down in the Grand Canal Docks, we ended up walking around the city most of the day.

Are you interested in any photos from SkaPunkPhotos.com? Prints are
available for most of my photography and the print sizes are located on
the Buy Prints
page. From time to time, I get requests from people that love my
photography so I’d like to just remind people that the photography is
available for purchase. Either buying a print or if you’re a magazine,
band, website, etc; licenses are available as well.

Also, if you’re a band or musician and sick of you’re girlfriend
with a crappy point & shoot taking pictures of you; then let me
handle that for you! I’ve been looking to photograph bands or musicians
on location somewhere and to build up my portfolio. Maybe we could work
out some deal? I can also come to a show of yours and photograph your
performance if that’s what you want?

Or perhaps your a band that needs a new website and wants a nifty
Wordpress blog? Well you’re in luck because I can do that as well! I
can offer web design and photography as a package deal. If you’re
interested in anything that I mentioned above, please e-mail at bryan@skapunkphotos.com.

I love movie soundtracks and scores. While I’ll be writing up another
list of film scores for another time, I wanted to list my top 25
favorite soundtracks. There are a lot of obvious ones in there but
there are a few obscure movies in the bunch as well. It’s tough with
lists with trying to rank each one so I did my best, but I’m sure
people out there will disagree with me. If you think I forgot a
soundtrack, please comment down below! Here’s the list of my favorite
soundtracks, starting with number 1:

1. A Clockwork Orange

A Clockwork Orange is my favorite soundtrack. It’s the soundtrack I
listened to throughout high school for some reason. I’m a huge fan of
classical music, and Walter (errr Wendy) Carlos’ moog synthesizers make
the pieces so much more trippy, creepy and entertaining. You can tell
this movie was made in the 70s but the way that Carlos did the pieces
was brilliant. The title track is haunting, and the classical pieces by
Beethoven made me appreciate his work ten times more. Now “Ninth
Symphony, Second Movement” is my favorite classical piece. Another
notable classical piece is “the Thieving Magpie” by Rossini. You might
remember that song from the beginning of the movie with Alex and his
droogs square off with Billy Bob and his gang. Whenever I hear any of
the tracks somewhere else, the first thing that comes to mind is A
Clockwork Orange. Even hearing “Singing In The Rain” makes me think of
this movie, whereas it should make me think of “Singing In The Rain.”
But it doesn’t.

Saturday December 20th was the day to act like a tourist for me. I never really went down to the city to see the usual sights like Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center, Macy's on 34th street or take a stroll through a snowy Central Park. Matt's new company that he works for offered a round trip bus ticket for 10 bucks to go to the city for the day. Since it was so cheap, Matt and his wife Michelle, my girlfriend Kristen and I all decided to go down for the day for sight seeing, shopping and food.

1. The Kooks @ Terminal 5, NYC

This is one of my favorite photos this year. The shot is of Luke Pritchard of the Kooks at Terminal 5 in New York City. What I like about this shot is the composition, the lighting and the rockstar pose.

2. The Rocket Summer @ The Fillmore at Irving Plaza, NYC

Out of all the bands on the AP Tour, this was the one shot that made it worth sitting through 5 whiny bands. This is of Bryce of Rocket Summer and I like how clear it is. The bright white light isn't from the lighting, but from some other photographer's flash. Ya gotta love unintentional off-camera flash.

3. The Fratellis @ Webster Hall, NYC

Out of all my photos I got from The Fratellis show at Webster Hall, this one stands out because of its vibrant green colors. I don't know what else to say except I just like this photo a lot.
