Patrick Doval is an American musician, singer,
producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose "80’s" style fuses elements
of rock with a new wave sound. In 2008, he independently released
two-albums, “Deliverance” & “Fractured” and quickly built a large following
on his myspace & Youtube pages. His songs have now sold in 12-countries via
iTunes. Countries which include: USA, Canada, UK, Italy, France, Spain,
Portugal, The Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Norway and Australia. In addition to
singing, Doval plays all the instruments himself on both albums.
Patrick has also created, directed & edited
numerous music videos to many of his songs. His video for the song “Don’t Let
Me Go” has already attained over 40,000 views and his Youtube page now has over
1000 subscribers. Doval’s videos are surrealistic, avant-garde, creative and
different from your conventional music video. He creates art in his videos, art
which is later printed & sold as t-shirts, posters, and fan memorabilia, etc.
Due
to Doval’s wide variety of musical influences, his music/voice has been
compared to a diverse group of legendary musical artists. Most frequently,
bands & artists that include: The Cure, David Bowie, Joy Divison/NewOrder, Depeche
Mode and Jeff Buckley. He considers his music
“Alternative rock” with a touch of 80’s new wave. He has gained fame for having
an authentic “80’s” sound; this is primarily due to Doval recording his songs
using an original Roland TR-707 drum machine (1985), which gives his music an
80’s feel. He has recently upgraded his recording equipment and is currently
working on new material for his next album, scheduled to be released sometime
in 2010. Lastly,
Patrick Doval is not only a gifted a musician and artist, but he is also a
recent graduate in Mathematics & Actuarial Science from Florida International
University (FIU). His schooling was funded by the National Science Foundation
(NSF), as he was a recipient of the CSEMS scholarship. He has also passed
Exam-P, the Probability Exam offered by the Society of Actuaries (SOA).
Patrick
Doval desperately wants to get “signed” to a record label and tour the fucking
world. Won’t somebody give him a chance?

Memories Music Video Credits: Actress: "Crystal" The video was shot primarily in two locations, a local park & my parent's house. Cost of video: $22.00 (white fabric/sheets) Budget: $ 25 Total Surplus: $3.00 I edited the entire video & directed it.
Caged Music Video Credits:
Actress: Crystal
Cost: $0.00 Budget: $10.00 Total Surplus: $10.00 Recorded in various locations throughout the Miami area. (2-different parks, my parent's home, an undisclosed location near the Everglades, and an empty lot behind some apartment complex). I directed & edited the entire video.
Never Sure Music Video Credits:
Actress: Crystal
Cost of video: $0.00 Budget: $0.00
I used many unrelased shots from the previous two-videos, the "lovers" scene, the "chain" scene, the "office" scene and the "falling leaf" scene were new shots. The video was mainly comprised of a "water color" effect & a "green-screen" effect, which made the video standout & unique.
Recorded in 2-different parks, my parent's home, and an undisclosed location near the Everglades .
I directed & edited the entire video.
Turbulence Music Video Credits:
Actress: Crystal The "Turbulence" music video was quite the challenge. I spent a lot of time thinking, artistically challenged, unable to find the missing, creative direction. Ultimately, I managed and I am very, very happy with the end result.
I shot scenes on an overpass walkway, ocean scenes .. Biscayne, shots of The Rickenbacker Causeway (the bridge, which connects the city of Miami to the barrier islands of Virginia Key and Key Biscayne across Biscayne Bay.), scenes on Krome Avenue (the westernmost major avenue in Miami-Dade County), shots of the old abandoned bridge ( once a railroad bridge) near AD Doug Barnes Park and additional footage as needed. I want to thank Crystal for holding the tripod+camera, as I drove and recorded scenes in the local Miami area. Lastly, special thanks to Crystal, for playing the part of a bad, bad girl. lol I produced, directed and edited the entire video. Budget: $20.00 Cost: - $15.00 ( GAS is a cost ) Total Surplus: +$ 5.00
Empty Road Music Video Credits:
Actress: Crystal Budget: $0.00 Cost: $0.00 ( Gas was not a cost ). Empty Road was shot at an undisclosed location. I had a difficult time trying to find the creative vision needed for this project. Ultimately, I created and I am very happy with the end result. The clock scene was from the "Memories" music video. However, in the "Memories" video, the clock went backwards ( towards the past ), in this video, the clock went forward. The bed scene was shot in my parents house ( where I live ).
I directed and edited the entire video.
Don't Walk Away Music Video Credits:
Actress: Crystal
Budget: $0.00 Cost: $0.00
( Gas was not a cost ).
The video was directed, produced and edited entirely by me. ( Like all my previous videos, everything you hear and see is created and produced by me. )
"Don't Walk Away" was filmend at a bus bench, a park and at my house.
I never use a "storyboard"...I just go with the flow... ;)
The spinning clocks were back! However, I used a different clock for this video....I am obviously obsessed with time. lol
Ashes of Life Music Video Credits
Actress: "Crystal" Budget: $ 20.00 Cost: $20.00 ( gas ) It's important to note that I don't smoke in real life, but I had to play the part for the video. As far as the locations are involved, most scenes were filmed at Florida International University ( FIU ). Unlike the previous 6-videos, I finally used a chroma key green screen and I am very happy with the end result.
Love Music Video:
Actress: "Crystal" Budget: $20.00 Cost: $14.54 ( Video head cleaner ) First and foremost, I am extremely lucky that I was able to complete this project. There were many setbacks and strange occurrences that occurred with the filming of this video. After I had filmed about 98 % of the project, my camera head got dirty and my camera was unable to function correctly. I immediately ordered a DV video head cleaner, which arrived day's later...I was delayed a good week. After the head cleaner arrived and was used, my camera was still not functioning properly. I tried countless times to get my camera to function and nothing worked. So I figured my project was doomed and that all my footage was lost permanently. After getting extremely angry and emotional, I decided to try the camera once more and guess what ? My camera mysteriously began to work. I immediately dumped all my footage over to my computer and I filmed the remaining footage required for the completion of this project. The very next day, my camera stopped working and to this day, it does not function correctly.
The true intention of this blog was intended to be a "video blog" with an update about my new video, but since my camera is no longer functional, I've decided to write this update in words.
98% of this video was filmed in my room. All the computers and the "machines" walking, etc. I want to thank "Crystal" for all her help and for lending me her lab coat…lol I direcrted, created and edited everything.
I edited the video in about 5-day's….After editing was completed, I began rendering my video and then my computer mysteriously began to shutdown on me several times during each render. Since I was terrified of a HD ( Hard drive) crash, I quickly rendered the video, backed-up my files and released the video to the public. If my computer would not have given me problems, I probably would not have released the version which was released to the public. I would have definitely tweaked the video some more.
Overall, I am very happy with the end result.
I began creating videos in April, 2007 and as I approach the one-year mark, I feel happy that I've created & improved so much, in such little time. I probably won't release another video for a few months or so, since I no longer have a functioning camera. The good news is that not having a camera will force me back into writing, creating & recording music. Ultimately, I will release "Love" on a new album ( which will be available on iTunes) later this year. I will also release "Think of Me" & "Can't You Feel my Broken Heart" as bonus tracks with the release of the album.
For those of you who like my work, you can support me on iTunes or by telling a friend about me. I also promise to work hard to have my music available to everyone in all parts of the world. Some of you have made me aware of this, and I will try and figure something out. Lastly, I want to thank all of you that have purchased songs or the Deliverance album on iTunes....I was truly not expecting such support... I thank you all...

Don't Let Me Go Music Video:
Actress: "Crystal" Budget: $20 Cost: $ 12 (Fuel) I dedicate this video to my fans. Without them, I have nothing… I would like to thank Crystal for always being so supportive & believing in me. She does a wonderful job and hopefully I can repay her someday. I started creating videos in April of 2007……It was an experiment….I wanted to do something "different". 9-videos later, I feel very proud, happy and ready to create more! Never in my wildest dreams could I have ever imagined the overwhelming support that I have received from my online supporters and I would like to thank everyone who has believed & supported me. 95% of the video was filmed in my room. The cost for this video was $12….. (Fuel)…..A simple drive to the beach, park and FIU. I had a lot of challenging but fun times in the filming of this video. I truly enjoy creating stories to my music. I wish I could do this for a living.....I still dream…..and always will………I'll definitely keep working hard and striving for the best. As long as I have supporters and followers, I will work relentlessly to create more and more. The overwhelming theme behind the video is "desperation". Does the young man in the video, save his love from tragedy or is it too late? Was it all a dream? You be the judge. You tell me. Lastly, yes.... the "apple" scene was inspired by Adam & Eve.
Endless Heartbreak Music Video:
Budget: $20.00 Cost: $ 7.00 and change Actress: Crystal
I directed & edited the entire video…
I used two-different types of video editing software for this video. I was looking for a “cartoonish” effect and used one-software solely to achieve the desired cartoon result. After the effect was applied, I would render and then reopen the video with my normal video editing software tool, edit if needed and ultimately render again… (double the work but it was well worth it! ) It was a tedious task but I simply felt more comfortable working and using my regular video software editor. Special thanks to “Nostromo” for helping me find the software I needed. Please note, since I am an “unsigned” musician and I am competing with millions of other “unsigned” bands & artists, I will never reveal the software I use. I like having an edge and keeping my competitors puzzled & guessing.
Everything was filmed in my room. I also chose to display parts of my “Empty Road” video on the 80’s looking TV. Please note that the TV is a random classic TV-image found throughout the internet. Ultimately, I am very pleased and happy with the end result. I hope everyone enjoys this video as much as I do….it’s definitely one of my personal favorites! :)
This video is dedicated in the loving memory of Evidio & Heidi Martinez, Jesse Groo & Taryn Farrar….All close friends and family that have passed away……all of which influenced me musically…. I could only wish they were here to see and hear my music & my video creations.
Lastly, special thanks to “Crystal” for believing in me and helping me achieve my dreams. She is amazing and simply the best!!!

Interview with ~ ARTISTSCONFER~by diana Link: http://forum.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction= messageboard.viewThread&entryID=69913794&groupID= 106919492&adTopicID=21&Mytoken=D8FB4936-02E5-4130- BA765F53AF5211BB590820232
1/ I understand Patrick all the Music is written, produced, performed, arranged mixed and edited by you. That is quite an awesome undertaking. How long have you been in the Music business, when did you begin writing and singing? I began writing, singing & recording when I was 15-years of age. I excelled more in my guitar playing, so I eventually stopped singing and only concentrated on writing songs. Since I could never find a dedicated band or singer, I became increasingly inspired by Prince, Lenny Kravitz and Trent Reznor and decided to do everything myself. As my recordings got better with time, my confidence grew and I gradually began singing again. 2/ How many Albums have you produced to date and when was the first one released? I have produced 4-personal albums but have only released two, "Deliverance" and "Fractured". My first release was for "Deliverance" in January of 2008. 3/ Who were some of your influences musically over the years? First and foremost, my uncle. He is the musician whom inspired me to take up guitar. Besides him, all the great bands and artists from the 60's to 90's have influenced me. To name a few....... Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Cure, David Bowie, The Beatles, John Lennon, Depeche Mode, Lenny Kravitz, Rush among others too numerous to mention. 4/ What musical instruments do you play, and which did you begin with, also was this a choice of yours? (Sometimes parents make the choices lol) I play guitar, bass, keyboards and I Program/arrange the drum machine. I began on the acoustic guitar and it was my choice. 5/What part of the music business do you find the most challenging? Trying to get a good record deal and exposure. 6/ It appears your virtuosity goes beyond the music business, correct me if i am wrong, it's apparent I see a lot of your art in your album covers as well? Yes, the art on my album covers are snapshots from my music videos, which are created by me. 7/ You appear to have an auspicious sound, and have many followers on your (Street Team). How does that make you feel? It makes me feel very grateful and happy that people support & enjoy my music...it's a dream come true. 8/ Are there any current plans for touring and if so, any dates or places that can be revealed? No plans for touring at the moment but hopefully in the near future. If I was to be "signed", I'd begin touring immediately. 9/ My last question: I give you one free psychic question, what would you ask? Where will I be in 2-3 years?
