M8 Mag: Wow - what a huge huge bassline - this one is guaranteed to have them whooping, hollering and swinging form the rafters. It's a pretty simple piece, but all the better for it. It's one of those records that sounds like it's always been around, helped no doubt by the raft of rave noises and early nineties drum programming. A bit of an instant classice we think and sure to stay in our boxes for ever. Oliver Moldan steps up for the remix and provides a useful alternative that is deep, dark and long. Heavy on the bleeps, glithes and atmosphere and well suited for early night endeavours when everybody is suitably "prepared" and ready for a bit of deep & dark action. M8/M8
John Acquaviva in Raveline: Dies ist ein sehr spezielles Vinyl, das ich schon seit längerer Zeit als Promo bekam, aber ich hatte kein Infosheet dazu. Ich dachte, dass es schon releast wurde und ein sicherer Hit warden würde. Aber niemand hatte von dieser Nummer gehört oder kannte den Artist. Also bin ich damit zu Craft Music, und sie haben ihn schließlich gesignt. Immer wenn ich ihn spiele, kommen die Leute zu mir und fragen nach, aber ich konnte ihnen keine Details nennen. Ein wirklich fetter Beat mit synthetischem Bass und zwei gigantische Breaks, die das Haus immer und immer wieder rocken. Jetzt kommt die Nummer endlich offiziell raus und alle wissen nun Artist und Titel.
Update Mag: John Acquaviva received this fat slab of minimalism as a promo without any info on what it was called or who the artist was, but every time he played it people would always ask what it was. So eventually he took it to Craft Music, and they tracked it down to Swen Webber, who promptly agreed to do a deal. So now the addictive synthetic bass led "First Stroke" is getting a fully fledged release, with the added bonus of remixes from Scratch Massive and Oliver Moldan. Mazi: Not crazy about the other mixes but I'm in love with the Oliver Moldan remix. I think he's taken a somewhat predictable groove and turned it into a churning and twisted building groover. I love the way it comes back from the breakdown; keeps it deep but puts it down too. Full support on this mix, can't wait to play it this weekend.
