Aside from having written and produced tracks for several established recording artists, Priest Forever is also a favorite on the college radio
and mixtape scene. He made up one half of the recording act "Buffalo Soldiers" whose collaboration with the legendary Barry White, "Playing your Game" was a top 20 Hit on the Billboard R&B charts.

His lyrical intensity landed him national exposure as a finalist in the “VH1 Hip Hop Honors Freestyle 59” competition. A former DJ / Producer / Emcee for the legendary KRS- ONE, Priest was also one of several producer / artists chosen to compete in the MTV Hip Hop pilot “Chopping The Wax”. Priest also founded underground recording act, "Tha Big East" and is the co-producer / co-host /
mix-show DJ for WHCR 90.3 FM’s “Equilibrium Radio.”

John O. made his mark in the Hip-Hop arena with the release of his debut single “The Underground” on Mercury Records (then recording under the alias “Jay BUM”). Since then he has released several mixtapes, including 2002's “The John O. Album.” John O. is also a recognized actor, having appeared on several television shows including “E.R.,” “The Practice,” and “Helldate”. John O. can also be seen co-starring alongside Academy Award-winner Jon Voight in the major motion picture “The Legend of Simon Conjurer”.

After collaborating on various mixtape projects, Priest Forever and John O. decided to adopt the title of Tha Gecko Brothas for the purpose of recording their album, “From Dusk Til Dawn”. “The idea was that we wanted to make an album that was so hot, you could put it on and rock it from dusk til dawn. We just decided to take it a step further with the concept of the name and all,” says John O.

Priest notes, “We wanted to make an album for the audience that listens to hip-hop but feels like they have been left out of the current scene. Something that would remind you of why you fell in love with Hip Hop in the first place.”

Tha Gecko Brothas chose to forego the major label route, opting to release the album independently via Mom and Pop stores as well as the Internet. “We both had done the major label thing and we felt like we wanted to try a different approach to putting out our music this time,” says John O. “Plus, doing it this way gave us total artistic control over the album’s direction and allowed us to make an album that we felt was geared at true fans of Hip Hop”

“We just wanted to make some good music without all of the politics and complications,” says Priest. "Things like lyrical content and bringing creativity
to verses, concepts and flows were very important to us. We wanted to take it back to where you had to show that you deserved to get on that microphone and spit. The Gecko Brothas are Hip Hop for people that love Hip Hop music and the art of emceeing.”
