VOCAL FX RANKED 11TH AT THE 2007 INTERNATIONAL BARBERSHOP HARMONY SOCIETY CONVENTION
On July 6, in front of over 10,000 people and a panel of fifteen top level judges at the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO, Vocal FX scored a total of 2537 out of a possible 3000 points (an average of 84.6 out of 100), ranking them 11th in the world. 31 choruses competed. From all fifteen judges, scores were solidly placed in the 80s, making Vocal FX an A-level chorus across the board.
Westminster Chorus won the competition after an epic tiebreaker. On the score sheet, they were tied with the Ambassadors of Harmony, both having 2849 points (95.0/100 average). Yes, out of 3000 possible points, fifteen judges added up all of their points and ended up with a tie. In accordance with Article VII of the Official BHS Contest Rules, a tie is broken by scores in the Singing category (there are three judging categories - Music, Singing, and Presentation). The difference here was only 11 points.
In the quartet competition, Max Q finally broke their three-year run of silver medals, becoming the 2007 champions, followed by silver medalists OC Times, and bronze medalists Stormfront.
