The new issue of Bands of Dixie is on the shelves in Europe, and Joe is on the cover, but they have their year end readers poll and here are the results... Band of the Year - #24 Inside the top 25, with bands like Mule, ZZ Top, Dickey Betts. Disc of the Year - One Night Only - #12 With The Black Crowes, ZZ Top, Bluestone Co, (*ahead of Govt' Mule, Montgomery Gentry, Dan Baird, Buddy Whittington) Guitarist of the Year - Joe Pitts, #21 Bassist of the Year - Jimmy Lynn - #19 These are the results as posted in the issue. Not bad for as many discs that has been put out this past year, and One Night Only, only being out for 4 months. We're very happy for the guys, to even be recognized, all the way across the world, is very humbling and satisfying. Stay tuned for more from the JPB.. It's on this year... Here is the latest review by Gary Weeks about JPB's One Night Only. We think this is going to Southwest Blues Magazine, MN Blues, Illinois Blues and SunCoast Blues. Our thanks to Gary, we're honored about what great things he has to say about the JPB. Artist-Joe Pitts Band CD Title-One Night Only Label-Kijam Records Label number-8450101788 By Gary Weeks The spirit of the power trios The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Cream are alive and well in The Joe Pitts' Band release One Night Only. With bassist Jimmy Lynn and drummer Dave Bishop acting as the explosive backline, Joe Pitts is able to further his visions with scalding Les Paul runs that bring back memories of the original Govt Mule. These ten songs are taken from a live recording at Cornerstone Pub, in NLR Arkansas. There are very few bands that can jam and rock with the authority of The Joe Pitts Band. And if there are, they won't reach the bar that has been raised. There are no lackluster performances on this cd.. Opening track "Blue Light Rain" has a catchy riff recalling Mountain in its heyday. An interpretation of an obscure Robin Trower tune "Step Into The Dark" turns into a long heavy jam with Pitts soloing above the wall of sound created by rhythm section Bishop and Lynn. This is a cd for guitar lovers who love their rock hard with a bluesy edge. They tackle "Tales of Brave Ulysses" with a fervor Clapton could appreciate. Sure there are the characteristics that mark this as a jam band. But the excursions into improvisation have a definite direction then just being sonic travels of fancy. Instrumentals "Blackout" and "Zambified" take fleight as Pitts lays down guitar lines drenched in lava lamp pyschedelia and heavy thunder. Bridging jazz, blues, funk and hard rock, it's no wonder this Arkansas outfit is getting gigs in Europe. Their style of music can be appreciated easily by fans whose tastes are Cream, Govt Mule, Free and Mountain. Pitts is taking the sounds of yesterday and moving them forward. Not too much of a bad thing, is it?

"One Night Only" Joe Pitts Band by Emily Parks
The Arkansas Power Trio is at it again. A true to life live set, recorded at Cornerstone Pub in Arkansas, One Night Only contains 10 tracks of pure hard-rockin', jazzy funk infused blues. Some favorites from the Joe Pitts Band's previous CD are featured alongside some astounding covers that too often are forgotten about. The potent and forceful "Blue Light Rain'' starts things off and sets the tone for the unrelenting guitar riffs and eloquent lyrics that span the rest of One Night Only. Up next is the slow and bluesy "Outskirts of Town", which exemplifies the band's diverse abilities. Bassist Jimmy Lynn proves that not only can he establish the bottom line, but he can also contribute overwhelming vocals for an awe-inspiring rendeition of Cream's classic, "Tales of Brave Ulysses." "Just a Matter of Time," the title track from their last release, proves the band needs only instruments and a little electricity to rock the house, and their rendition of Free's "Mr.Big" shakes the floor. One Night Only comes complete with audience participation, the sounds of breaking glass and all the other fun stuff that makes for a great live show. The group then glides into another original, "VT Inst 6 Jam", which proves that Joe Pitts, Jimmy Lynn and David Bishop can hang with anyone in the business. Relying on raw talent and love of the music, Joe Pitts Band has released one of the best live CDs we have heard in a long time - enjoy the energy of One Night Only. www.joepitts.com

Well, all we can say, is WOW.. What a night of music, not only for us, but for the city of Little Rock. Our good friends Mike Dollins and his band opened the show, with that West Coast Jazz/Blues style that just swings and gets everyone in a great mood. Mike and co. was hitting on all cylinders that night, and sounded better than I have ever heard them. Playing music off their new CD, showed the outright talent of all on stage with Mike Dollins. A true bluesman of the word.
By the time we got up on stage, it was standing room only in the Cornerstone. We just played the new CD in it's entirity. Then, because our good friend David Hughes was there, we had to do a version of "Dazed and Confused" for him. He loves that song! So, we always try to oblige. I'm telling you, i've not been in Cornerstone where there was a bigger crowd. We want to send out a huge thank you to all our friends and fans that came out to be a part of a special night for us.
We had a great jam at the end, with friends like Cosmic Biscuit, Jim Bellman, Carroll Wolfe. We really had a great night of music, and a big kickoff for the new live CD, "One Night Only", recorded right there at the Cornerstone Pub.
Our utmost thanks to Brian and Mike and all the staff and crew at the Cornerstone. It's really our home, and we greatly appreciate everything, and everyone for such a special night for us.
Peace,
Joe

Just a Matter of Time
Joe Pitts
Kijam Records
by Bill Ector
Arkansas resident Joe Pitts offers up a cool collection of mostly original songs that were played and recorded, as it says on the CD cover, "With no computer manipulation." The 11 tracks on Just a Matter of Time are bluesy and soulful, and they capture the listener's ears from the first notes to the ending of "Funked Up." Pitts plays some tasty guitar on the entire CD, most of which was recorded with three musicians (additional guitar and keyboards provide occasional accents).
"Lonesome Boy From Yesterday" tells the tale of a young man heading out into the world to figure it all out, and the rocking title track offers a catchy guitar riff that shows off a real power trio sound. The moody "Ice Cream Cakes" has a darker tone, but it's an interesting take on being loved.
Joe Pitts plays some funky stuff, too, as he demonstrates in the spacey, appropriately named instrumental "Zambified." The reggae influence of "Should Have Seen It Coming" plays against the slow blues of "Rolling with the Blues," and the modern sound of "Sealed Inside Good Intentions" showcases Pitts' talents as a musician, songwriter and singer.
The last song, "Funked Up," closes out Just a Matter of Time in grand style – but wait! This one is a lot longer than you may think, so stay tuned to the very end for a beautiful and surprising conclusion to one of the best new CDs we have heard in some time.

Check out what Mister G, host of Green Arrow Radio has to say about Joe's CD, "Just a Matter of Time". Our thanks to Mister G. JPB Management
Slide over, no really SLIDE on over and listen to this. Joe Pitts can create a powerful storm of sound with a ghostly shadow of style reminding myself and many of the dear Duane Allman. Not afraid to rock a love song or tell that fantastic story, the album Just a Matter of Time, (Kijam Records 2007) takes a ride on the southern side of rock and keeps plenty of room for some of that sweet soulfulness of the blues. He has pulled influences from yesterday into today and has been compared to guitarists like Warren Haynes, Larry McCray and Walter Trout. Although his influences range from Duane Allman and Jeff Beck(Ice Cream Cakes) to Roy Buchanan(Nickle and a Nail), he is becoming known worldwide for his slide guitar work. He uses his slide work to create tone-filled licks that both glide and soar over the music. And I am starting to wonder who is calling him their influence. He is also heavily inside the groove with really funky rhythmic improvisations, which as a listener you can get that true feeling on the final track, Funked Up…but be patient–coming out of the shadows of that track is the ghost of song greatness…..(Lone Me a Dime) the great Fenton Robinson tune with the easily treasured slide work of Duane worked over with precision and pride…Thanks Joe.

Hey everyone, hope this finds everyone of our friends doing fine, healthy, happy and rockin! You know, we just got in from our Georgia/Florida run, and there are some things I HAVE to say.
First off, Macon Georgia, we love ya. From all our friends to Mama Louise at the H&H Restaurant (if you don’t know who she is, shame on you..!) . Great friends Bob Rumer from Tommy Crain and the CrossTown Allstars, Tony Tyler and Avery Dylan sat in with us, and it was such a good time. These guys are great musicians, but more important, they are wonderful people. If you don’t know about them, check them out. It’s such an honor to play with musicians who really love what they do. And we can’t wait to do it again!
In Atlanta, I can’t say good enough things about my friends, Terry Reeves, Barry Trotter, Bob Fortin and everyone at Music Matters Entertainment. Thank you just will never be enough. You all have made alot of my dreams come true, and you are a part of my family for life. These are some of the most dedicated, professional people we’ve encountered, and, it’s rare to find people who are in the business, who loves music MORE than the musician’s!!! I’m very honored to be associated with these guys. Check out all the artists on Music Matters Entertainments sites. They are all great musicians and bands.
Hittin’ the Note.. Here’s where it gets really hard for me.
For years I’ve read this magazine, and now we’re a part of the family. It’s no secret that Duane Allman was probably the driving force behind me ever picking up a guitar, much less learning how to play slide guitar. Duane was the best, and everyone else down the line, are all diciples. This magazines focus is on the artists that still carry on that vision, and that vibe that the original ABB started in 69. To have my cd on Hittin the Note, and to have such a respected person as Bill Ector doing a review of it, is very humbling. Everyone take a minute to subscribe to Hittin’ the Note, and please, buy my CD from them, because I want the proceeds to go to the Bill Ector Medical Relief Fund. We have to help out our friend. Please, go to Hittin the Note, and subscribe, buy CD’s from the best artists around, or just donate. We’d love you for it.
Destin, Florida. The Hog’s Breath. Yep, the WORLD FAMOUS Hog’s Breath. Jimmy and all the staff and crew at Hog’s really treated us so kind, and so well. This is a place you have to go when your in Destin. Not just for the great Tshirts and merch, but the food is AWESOME!! And, the nicest people you’d ever want to meet. Thanks Jimmy, we look forward to seeing you again.
Comcast on Demand Video’s are now up on the myspace page. These were shot at the world famous Smith’s Olde Bar, in Atlanta. And, I guess the cat’s out of the bag now, but, the new record we’re currently working on in the studio, is going to be titled "Midnight Blue", and you can see and hear the song, from it’s debut at Smiths, on the site. We also put the title track to the debut solo album, "Just a Matter of Time" up. So, pretty fitting, that we do the title tracks to both records. Let us know what you think. We want to thank the Comcast On Demand people for such a great night. And we thank all the people who have been viewing this on Comcast On Demand.
Well, we have a new record started, we’re going to do a live record in May/June, and tour, tour and tour some more. Come out and see us when we’re in your neck of the woods. We’d love to meet you.
Hope to see you on the road...
Peace, Joe
