............

It’s generally not like us to be nostalgic, but let’s take a little stroll down memory lane.  In June, we celebrated the 4th anniversary of End of an Era’s first show.  Over the course of these four years, we’ve been fortunate enough to accomplish quite a bit on our own…probably more than a local band is supposed to.  Our first two albums have even found themselves circulated worldwide through a variety of channels.  In fact, “Mission Statement” is currently out of print and “The War Against…” will be following very soon.  With that said, we wanted to show our appreciation to all of our fans, friends and family with a little gift from us End of an Era boys.

.. ..

As of a few hours ago, we’ve made both “Mission Statement” and “The War Against…” 100% free to download.  That’s right.  From this point on, both of those albums will be free.  Head on over to www.endofanera.bandcamp.com and gobble them right up.  Tell your friends, family, coworkers and neighbors all to do the same thing.  In fact, cut out the middle man and just burn the songs for them.

.. ..

For those of you that are true audiophiles, there are several different formats that the albums are available in.  The normal bit rate mp3’s are 100% free.  However, the higher bit rate mp3’s and other formats have a slight charge …only 50 cents per song!

.. ..

As for more current events, we are currently writing and beginning the recording process for a brand new full length album.  There are no release dates, titles, track listings, or really any actual information that I can give you right now…except for the fact that we’re working on it.  We’re focusing much more on the music, songs, sounds, and every other facet than we ever have before and we’ll keep you posted throughout the process via video, blogs, and other mediums.

.. ..

Thanks!  We’ll see you on the road…

.. ..

With Undying Love,

End of an Era

P.S.  How cool is it that "The War Against..." can be found on the myspace "Tell us what you're listening to" thing?

That's right here is the article:

Our Band of the Month is: End of an Era-
I would usually describe such a band as Rock-Techno, but they insist they are a band that is not trying to be a specified genre. They are “all mashed up” of all the different styles. Each of the band members listen to different genres, and feel listing themselves as one genre would hurt them and their message. Their message is that of a group that is deeply socially cognizant and express this in their music to be just that. Also, they assert that more people need to “think for themselves,” through their music. One of their songs, “Intruder,” is a metaphorical song that blatantly talks about current problems with the government and privacy issues in this day an age. This kind of song could go over someone’s head because it is a problem with society that not many people think of, therefore their fans could receive the wrong idea. End of an Era is a band that has been together for a long time; their four year anniversary as band is this month(June)! With that being said it’s obvious that a band this together acts like a “(dysfunctional)” family and brings their energy to stage when performing. Although I have yet to see a live performance, they describe it as “Hard” and explained that there has been injuries and they tend to break things… As someone who has been to many concerts, it’s apparent that a band like this is very passionate and expressive with their feelings/ideas. Their goal is world domination; they would like to play everywhere and anywhere at least once, and this includes Antarctica. So if you like their music just ask them to perform near you, they would love to! To bring this to a close, I must say that this band is intense and it gives me much pleasure to give them an A for music and personality.

Hey folks,
I have a few fun filled updates for you...be ready for moist pants.

First off, on March 20th, we'll be officially releasing our new single, "Final Approach".  This song marks several changes in the EOAE camp...some you'll be able to hear, see, or figure out and others that you won't.  Also, as a society, we are all seemingly looking ahead at a period of great change...for better or worse.  Therefore, lyrically it's an extremely fitting song to be putting out...for all of us.  For the past several weeks, we've holed ourselves up in our secret headquarters, writing and recording a bunch of new music...so this is the first of several singles that are going to be popping up over the coming months...so be prepared!

Can't wait til the 20th to hear the new song?  Neither can we.  Come out to our acoustic show on March 15th and you'll receive a free pre-release copy of the song!

March 15h - Entrolab Rehearsal
Doors at 12 PM...we go on between 6 and 7 PM
All ages...$10 at the door.

In other news, End of an Era will also be making a triumphant return to The Stone Pony on April 10th with our good friends in Divinity Destroyed.  Though we haven't been there for our own show in a while, the pony is still our second home and we want to come back with a bang!  We'll be debuting our all-new live show and possibly throwing in a new song or two.  Tickets are currently on sale now...so send us a message and we'll get them out to you.

That's all for now...  Remember, March 20th..."Final Approach".

What's up, folks?

So what's up with us?  As Winter comes to a frosty close, we'll only be playing a few shows.  This is mostly due to the fact that we're currently hard at work in our secret underground laboratory, relentlessly writing and demoing some new music.  Expect to see some proof of that popping up over the next few weeks.  We're also in the process of putting the finishing touches on a brand new live show that is sure to melt your faces.

In the meantime, we have shifted some of our focus over to infiltrating and eventually taking over the internet.  On of the main sources of power that we'll be drawing from will come from a little website called Reverb Nation.  Head on over to www.reverbnation.com/endofanera.  Make sure to "become our fan" and take part in all the goodies that the website has to offer.  One such goodie is that we've uploaded "Pendulum" to the player over there.  Check it out.

Aside from that, we're going to give a few of you guys the chance to become the next YouTube star.  We're currently in the process of putting together two fan oriented YouTube videos that we're asking for your help with.  For the first one, we're going to need you folks to send us questions (either in email or myspace message) that we can answer in a publicly viewed internet forum.  Is there something you've always been curious about? (Justin's sexuality?)  Maybe you're looking for advice on what to do with that guy in class that you have a crush on? (You don't have a chance.  Just kill yourself now and save the embarassment.)  Whatever it is, send it our way.  That one should be interesting.

For the second video, we're going to be debuting our "Fan of the Month" segment (for which hopefully we'll come up with a more clever name).  To become Fan of the Month, you must complete a simple task in the most creative way possible.  For the first month, we want your EOAE related stories.  Did you break your arm at an EOAE show and happen to run into Oprah in the hospital afterwards?  Maybe you have a story about a specific song that means something to you.  Maybe you've been a witness to our unspeakable acts of debauchery.  Fill us in.  Send us your best EOAE related story and you can win a chance for it to be featured on YouTube.

That's all for now!

( I know we're a bit late to be jumping on the New Year blog bandwagon...but hey...we're slow.)

With 2008 quickly coming to an end, it's only fitting that we take a second here to take a step back before taking another huge step forward.  We've had a monster year here in the End of an Era camp.  This past year we've released 2 ep's (if you don't have them yet, what the hell is wrong with you?), hit the Bamboozle festival for the second year in a row, toured all over the place, met some of you fine folks, won awards, and even made our first trip outside of the country.  Not too shabby for a bunch of "fags in black" with no management, agent, or label.

Never ones to rest on our laurels, we can't wait to hit you with what we have in store for 2009.  We're working with some new people to bring the good old USA more of us than you can possibly tolerate.  Even as we speak, we've quietly locked ourselves away in the confines of our super secret headquarters in order to work on a bigger and better live show than you've ever seen from us before.  We promise.  Who knows?  We may even be working on some sort of new 6 inch silver frisbee/drink coaster.  We're told you may even be able to get some sort of music out of it.

I know this is all a bit vague, but you're just going to have to deal with it for now.  Details are on their way...on all fronts.  For now, we're calling on all family, friends, and fans (old and new) to help us ring in the new year with a bang.  Besides a slew of upcoming local shows (that we better see all your asses at), we're also going to be starting massive internet guerilla rampages.  Why do people like "Tom" and "Perez Hilton" get to have all the fun on here?  Fuck 'em both.  Want to help us wage internet war on the bland, the square, the unnecessary, and the mediocre?  Head on over to www.myspace.com/eoaefrontline, join up, and find out how.

That's all for now.  More to come shortly...

Hello,
Just got in from the first leg of the Strikes Back Tour and I'm proud to report that there were no deaths or serious injuries...therefore, making it a complete success.  We'd like to give a big shout out to the NYPD and the NYC Marshall's Office for providing us with a much needed derailment from an otherwise smooth trip.  Hat's off, fellas.

Anyway, on a more serious note.  We'd like to thank everyone who came out and made those shows so awesome.  We'd also like to welcome all the new friends we've met into our fucked up little circle.  We'll be back out to see you folks really soon.  And to all those areas we didn't hit yet, keep your eyes open for an update over the next few weeks...

The tour was capped off by yet another wonderful weekend with in Massachusetts with the Scarecrow Hill crew and Mongrel.  Massachusetts is definitely End of an Era's second home and I'm super excited to announce that we'll be back up there December 5th with Scarecrow Hill for a cool acoustic show...and to make Tylor seriously regret asking us to come up for his birthday show.

On a completely unrelated note, the apocalypse must be at hand because End of an Era's apparently been nominated for a few awards.  Awards and accolades aren't really our bag, but we've been put in the same categories as some killer bands...which is always pleasant.

First off, we've been nominated for an Asbury Music Award for Top Heavy Rock band.  We've been nominated alongside our brothers in Divinity Destroyed and a bunch of other great bands.  The awards show for that is November 8th at The Stone Pony...so stay tuned for details on that sucker.

Moving on, we've also been nominated in Pennsylvania for the 717 Awards in the category of "Best Regional Band".  It's certainly cool to be nominated for an award roughly 2-3 hours outside our area, and if you have any interest in us winning, then please send a message over to the Doctor's Office (www.myspace.com/mydoctorsoffice) saying that you want us to win...or to say "Are you fucking kidding me? EOAE blows!"

That's all for now.  We'll see you all at our "Strikes Back!" release parties in a couple of weeks.  Remember, everyone who walks through the door gets a copy of "Strikes Back!"...so come out in huge numbers and leave us broke!  America's in recession, and being the true patriots we are, so should we!

Good day all,

As the country approaches economic catastrophe and the world prepares itself for the coming of Sarah Palin, your favorite armageddon-pop band End of an Era is here to save your lives.  We are coming to the end of the recording and mixing process of the new drop card release "Strikes Back" and I figured it might be a good time to let you know what this release is all about. First off here's the track-listing:

"Strikes Back"
1. Fear of the Known
2. New Year's Day
3. The Scene is Dead
4. Intruder
5. Deep in the Heart
6. Come Hell or High Water

You might be thinking to yourself one of two things:
1. "Hey I think I've heard that song 'The Scene is Dead' before."
2. "Why am I reading this?"

If you're thinking 1 you are right you have. We've had a lot of great feedback on that song, but it's never been "officially" released. So we re-vamped it a bit and now you can finally have a copy of it. You may also be thinking that "New Year's Day" is a U2 song. If you are thinking this, you are correct. This is our first attempt at a cover song, and being the state of the world right now, we figured this would be the best U2 re-make since the last Linkin Park album. The rest of the songs we assure you are ones you have never heard before in your life, and are completely original (though some would beg to differ).  Musically, the EP takes End of an Era into new territories we haven't explored before.  One thing you can always count on with us is that we will never make the same album twice.  So don't expect this one to be "The War Against Part II" or "Dark Side of the Moon Part II."

Now one thing we really want to stress to all of you is that "Strikes Back!" is not going to be released on CD (yet) but rather .. cards.  For those of you who don't know what drop cards are; they resemble a gift card or a credit card with a link to a website and a pin number on the back that contains the music and the ebola virus.  When you take this card home with you, go to the website and type in the pin number and then BAM! you have the music, the artwork, and ebola.  The whole reason we are doing this is as a sort of experiment.  With technology changing rapidly, the CD media is becoming more and more obsolete.  To translate: Most of you listen to your music on an I-Pod, not a CD.  Most of you also download your music for free rather than purchase it at your local music store.  With this drop-card media, you can digitally get all the music and the artwork, and you can save a lot of money doing so (we will be selling these drop cards at a very affordable price.)

We're commemorating the release of "Strikes Back" with a series of release parties

in NJ and PA.  The best part of these shows is that literally EVERYBODY in attendance will receive a "Strikes Back!" drop card upon walking through the door.  I'll go through it step by step with you....you'll walk into the venue's front door, you'll pay the cover charge, and the door person will hand you a dropcard.  Here's the details on those shows....

November 14th - Waretown Firehall (aka Station 36) in Waretown, NJ.  All Ages...Doors at
November 15th - The Sterling Hotel in Allentown, PA.  All Ages...Doors at

Wait!  That's not all.  We'll also be running a special Golden Ticket Contest at the NJ "Strikes Back!" Release Party!  As I said before, when you come through the door, you'll get your "Strikes Back!" dropcard.  On your dropcard will be a small gold sticker with a number on it.  Sometime during our set, we'll randomly draw 5 numbers out of a hat.  If you're number is picked, then you're a winner!  You and 2 friends (3 of you in total) will gain entrance to a special private "Golden Ticket" Acoustic show on November 22nd that will be held at our headquarters in Toms River.  It's kind of like Willie Wonka except without the Fizzy Lifting drinks.

Now that I got that out of the way, I want to get serious for a moment or two.  End of an Era has never been what I'd call a "political band" but more so a social commentary of sort on all that is what we call our world.  Lyrically, I've tried to keep things in a tone where you can relate the words to anything from personal relationships in life to giant corporate corruption.  But honestly, I'm sure no one wants to hear a musician preaching their views on politics and world events.  However, I personally feel it's time to get a message out there to any audience of ours who gives a fuck.  The whole country (and practically the whole world) is going to hell in a handbasket, and unless you live in a sheltered, Catholic house in Montana you know what I'm talking about.  In November, there is something coming up called a presidential election.  Now I'm not going to sit here and tell you VOTE FOR OBAMA or MCCAIN RULES.  However, you should care enough about your future to look beyond the headlines and the "red" & "blue" mantras and make an educated decision.  We all sit around and blame the politicians and leaders for the mistakes of our world.  But they are only half of the problem....the other half is us.  Yes, while you sit there and pay more attention to the green Coach bag you'd really like to buy or wonder who the next winner of "Dancing with the Stars" is gonna be, decisions get made and the world you live in gets just a little worse.  And you don't even realize, nor care.  So please, if you are old enough go vote for your future in November, and even if you are not old enough to vote, start figuring out how you are going to make a difference.  It's not just the people that hold a microphone or a gun that can make the changes that affect us all.

Thanks,
Steven Blair

Current mood:  curious

The official release date of "Strikes Back!" will be November 18th!!

Where and how can you get it?  Here's where things get interesting....

End of an Era has always been a band that's always tried to do things a little differently and come up with new and exciting ways of doing..well...everything.  In that vein, we have decided to do an experiment and try to make "Strikes Back!" a totally digital release.   What does that mean?  Well, instead of ordering a CD online or picking one up in a store, you'll be able to skip that step and download the entire album and artwork (and fun special goodies) in one shot...and even have the option of downloading it directly to your ipod or mp3 device.  At shows, instead of selling CD's at our merch table...we'll be selling a drop card.  This drop card looks much like a normal credit card and will have cool artwork on the front and a website and verification code on the back....just go to the website, type in the verification code, and the music/goodies are yours.

For those who aren't tech savvy, I feel your pain...but I assure you that it's easy.  The other perk of doing things this way is that we'll be able to bring the music to you at the absolute lowest price possible.  This, like I said, is completely experimental and depending on how it works in the first pressing will dictate whether or not "Strikes Back!" comes out on CD in the future.

Let me know your thoughts on this part...I'm very curious to hear what you think.

Let me start by saying...OH MY GOD! The new material is coming out fucking awesome.  I really wish, at this point, that we can share the new songs with you but unfortunately we cant yet. I walked into the studio today about to track guitars and expecting not to get sounds that I want and would have to settle for less. Thats not what happened at all. Every track that I did sounded chaotic and huge...and it blended really well with the rest of the music. A huge shout out to Jeff W_(Singer) and Jeff Fago(Tech) for giving me everything I asked for and more. October is almost here and that means we will be releasing our new E.P. and then we'll be hitting the road once again yo. I fucking miss everyone of you and can not wait to see your pretty faces again.  There will be some updates coming up so keep checking back to our myspace page.
