We've been dead lately as a crew, so I've been thinking about putting in more time and of course more money into Give D! again... Rounding up the dudes, getting the crew together and making some shit and things happen? Not sure If I should commit to that yet though, we're sloppin all over right now or keeping busy and we're all pretty into our own lives now, more so than ever... I've got a real bad headache right now, so this is probably just some delirious talk with myself that doesn't matter. I'll forget that I even typed these thoughts into a blog by the time I wake up tomorrow. Which will probably be around 2 PM or so, maybe 12 PM if I'm feeling frisky... I think I'm just gonna drink a couple more Redbulls, watch a movie and call it a night.

Anybody really read these things anyways? I need to make a new Give D! site too, ahhhhhhh shit.

Shirts, stickers, tech vests, cashmere cardigans, trucker hats with the brim flipped up, bent up and bro'd out... All these goodies are essential for the comeback tour: Bong Water, Barrel Tits, Mustache Fags, Fakie Wall Jedi's, Banana clam chowder and whiskey cookies.

Anyone want to buy the rights to Give D!? Shit, I'll pay you to take this off my hands.

Sweet, sweet Redbull, quench my undying thirst...

Lets take it back to the better times, when we were legit-ish....

I just read our old Give D! SF Trip that was purely The 4 Horsemen, that shit gets me stoked every time I read it. Hoang did a damn good job of narrating that story and documenting the whole trip.

Ryan from Hangin In There recently hit me up for a little Q & A and of course I was down and ready. I definitely had a good time with these questions, thanks again to Ryan for the opportunity! Read on if you're interested...

Shit

1) Name, age, who you'd like to be reincarnated as:

Alex Bermudez, 21 and I would like to be reincarnated as Wolf from American FUCKING Gladiators!! Brother.

2) Most memorable Give D outing:

Wow that's a tough one, I mean I have so many to choose from…D's Giving, The L.A. D! trip, living at the SPACE apartment… One of my most memorable times with Give D! Crew would probably be either the time 4 of us went to San Francisco or just recently when all of the crew went to Desert Hot Springs bike park. Hoang, Kyle, Ron and I went to S.F. last year and it was one of the best times of my life. It was my first time there and we not only shredded amazing spots but partied a lot of the nights. We also happened to stay at San Francisco State college in the girl's dorms, where needless to say good things went down. So much happened during that trip, It would take pages to go over it all in detail. The other competing time for most memorable would be when all of D crew rolled out to the one bikes only park in California. We owned the entire park for the hours we were there and the local kids were awesome. The drive there and back took forever but it was worth it, hours of riding with over a dozen people all of which were D crew and a couple special guests. The locals were stoked on everyone being there for the session and we had a good time exploring Desert Hot Springs that night… Thanks to those Desert kids for being bad ass!!

3) New projects in the works, current job, something funny that occured at work:

Well I wont lie, I haven't had a job in well over a year. I used to be a general contracting apprentice for almost 2 years and during that time I learned a lot of good trades. Now I'm just a scumbag that doesn't work, I just work on Give D! and The Take and somewhere in there I try to ride bikes as much as possible. I get money here and there doing odd jobs or doing some of my old trades still but I basically put the construction life behind me. Fuck the workforce! I always have new things in the works with Give D! and a lot of new things I'm working on with The Take as well… New D shirts are in the works and a Redbull endorsement is on its way too… I'm designing a new frame for The Take with the rest of the team and coming out with all new clothing for The Take's 08' line… Things are going quite well and I'm having lots of fun doing all of it. Something funny that occurs at "work" is just waking up every day in the North County Give D! apartment that we just acquired. I live with Steve Kennedy, Steve Kerr and Braden Ross and we have frequent visits from everyone. We just got in this new apartment about a week ago and things are already kicking lots of ass, I wouldn't have it any other way…

4) The Give D LA Trip summed up in ten words, pros and cons of the trip:

Positive. Fun. Poorly planned. Minimal money. Fucking POSITIVE GOOD FUN!!
The trip in itself was a success, the crew and I had a real good time riding the spots that B-Dubbs mapped out for us. B dubbs showed us around and told us what to ride and when, he even threw us a KFC/pizza party at his pad followed by the Blueprint video… We were able to stay at Albert's girlfriends place free of charge for most of the trip. It was real nice of Stephanie to allow a bunch of smelly dudes to stay there and she let D! crew drink all of her roommates liquor… We had minimal funds throughout the four day trip but made the best of what we had readily available. It was planned but not that well, which in the end probably made it a better time anyways. We all got irritated with each other at one point but that's only because we were all delirious at times during the trip… Not too many cons to speak of. We didn't get kicked out of anywhere and good times were had the entire time.

5) Current obsessions, or lack there of:

I'm currently obsessed with rotting, Redbull, flat black spray paint and sticker collages on everything… I have a lack of obsession for negativity, dudebros and micro dogs.

6) Who's shoes you'd like to walk in, one catch, each person should be from a different year:

A bum, because they're basically always at rock bottom and that's what I've never really hit before or felt. I think I would like to be in that position some day, an experience where I have to fight and work my way back up in life. Maybe it would change my outlook or perspective towards life or something… Mostly because I dislike bums, I don't care about the reason or reasons why they're homeless. I just feel that there's always a good way out and you always have the ability to come completely back up in life and kick ass no matter what your situation is…

And now some either/or business:

1) Red Wine vs. White Wine

SWEETBERRY WINE!!!! Oh and straight edge…

2) Westside connection vs. Wu Tang Clan

Left Coast ALL DAY! But Wu Tang holds it down!!

3) Harold and Kumar vs. How High

I hate both of those movies. So anything brutal with zombies or gore with heads falling off, machine guns, all of the above… I have a sick, twisted, disgusting mind. haha

4) Brakeless vs. Brakes

I've Been brakeless for a long time… I've never done any brake tricks, so I wont be needing those… Whatever you're into is cool with me.

5) Classic Rock vs. Hip Hop

Papoose!!!

6) Too Short vs. E-40

I don't care about either of those dudes. So I'll say Whitechapel, Suicide Silence and The Partisan Turbine… Maybe some more PapoooooooooosE!

And six people (or more) who you'd like to send a thanks out to:

I would first off like to thank my grandma Doody for always supporting and funding Give D! Thanks to my momma and Lauren for always supporting me in everything I do. Thank you to all my good friends, which also happen to be Give D! crew, for shredding and for always having a good time. I'm very proud of my D! team and I'm more than proud to represent them as they do for Give D! A very big thank you to those who support us and what we're about, represent that D! You know who you are… Thank you to Odyssey homies especially Jim Bauer, B Dubbs!! and Nuno! Thanks to Greg Walsh at Coalition/Hell On Earth… Big D! and thanks to Harrison, Ardelean and Nuno again at DEFGRIP!! Thanks to anyone who's ever helped me or Give D Crew out in life, without everyone's support we would be nothing! NOTHINGGG!! Thank you Ryan for the interview my good man! Stay posi and keep D'n!!

D'sgiving Fest!!

"Alex, AKA "Lord of D", wrote up a little story about the contest he put on in San Diego this past weekend. Check it out, stay positive, and have fun on your bike!"

The first annual D'sgiving Fest was held this past Saturday on November 10th. It was a glorious day to shred and spread positivity. The contest was held at the YMCA park in Clairmont, San Diego. I would say it's one of the best parks in California due to its unbeatable positive vibe. The locals of Clairmont, Steve Woodward, Dennis Enarson, Hoang Tran, Kyle Hart and many more take to riding so naturally and effortlessly...all while having a good attitude, whether they're on or off the bike. This is one easy reason to see why Clairmont's YMCA is the home park of the Give D Crew and the provider of the first Give D Contest.

All day, All long. credit: Ryan Fudger

Give D Clothing has been around for a little over a year and now that we're finally getting established as a company I figured it was about time to throw our own contest. The original contest date was set for late October, but due to the Santa Ana fueled fires that broke out all over Southern California, we had to reschedule the contest date for November. I was worried at first about the turn out for the event, whether it would be enough time for people to recover, rebuild and resume normal life. My second worry after the attendance issue was just recently with the oncoming winter weather creeping in. Being that the YMCA is an outdoor park, any amount of rain would've shutdown the contest and it was cloudy and cold out for a week before the contest.

That all proved to be wrong when D'sgiving Fest day came around...I woke up to a beautiful sunny day with only a little bit of cloud cover. I woke up a little sloppy from the night before because I stayed up until 5am playing Super Castlevania on Super Nintendo. Yeah I beat it, no big deal... The entire North County apartment woke up and headed out to the contest around 9am to join the rest of San Diego and as soon as I got there I had to start puttin' in work with announcing. Laszlo, YMCA park coordinator, already started up the beginner class with four youngin's competing for the goodies from various sponsors. I can't quite remember the names of the little guys, but they shredded and all four of them won some prizes. The attendance when I showed up at 10 AM was already pretty good, and throughout the day the crowd and the amount of riders kept coming in.

After the grommets shredded, we had intermediate, followed by armature class; both with a minute for a rider to produce as much as possible for the judges. That was followed by a second round of the same format in both classes. A lot went down during the intermediate and amateur divisions and both divisions apparently can do double whips, flips and flairs now. There was probably some sandbagging, but its all good in the D hood. Fun was had by all and I can't even remember half of the riding I saw Saturday; too many riders one after another. I messed up on occasion just trying to announce and keep up with the flow of kids shredding all day. All the winners received parts, shirts, certificates, and other goodies and those who competed and didn't place were still tossed prizes as well.

This is the part of the write-up where I start name-dropping a bit, so prepare yourself... During all of the action, burritos were being distributed at the front office courtesy of Chipotle, and everyone was stoked on a free meal. FRS kept all the thirsty kids hydrated with their new energy drink being distributed by my boy Trevor. Thank you to both Chipotle and Trevor at FRS for helping out at this positive event!

Shortly after all the free riding and food consumption, we brought out the pro contest. During pro warm up, more and more people started showing up to the park to watch the main part of the event. Robbie Morales brought some of the Fit crew down and the rest of the riders who came for pro signed up and started shredding. I was losing my mind announcing all the pandemonium; big 180s over ramps and into quarters from Nesbit wall, 360 touchdowns, flips, whips, and flairs everywhere. Massive wall rides on the D wall... Everything was brought out for pro. It was amazing to watch all of the D crew, homies of SD, and visitors just having a good time riding bikes all day. There wasn't any negativity during the entire day and that's what Give D promotes, so needless to say I was very proud and very stoked. The top three winners of the pro class were as follows: Lil' Tammy with a win in 3rd and 80 bucks, DGAF Dan with 2nd place and 100 bucks, and Mike Montgomery with a 1st place win and 500 dollars. Along with the prize money came a ton of goodies from our sponsors and after the pro class, Henry from Henry's Bike Shop had a goodie toss for all who attended.

It was one of the best times I've had not riding bikes in my life. I announced and hung out with everyone all day and just made sure everyone was having a good time. I wish I could throw something like that monthly just to pump up the San Diego BMX scene... Hopefully I can bring it back around next year or maybe even have a couple contests next year for Give D. Right now I would like to take the time to thank everyone who came out and made D'sgiving an amazing good time. Thank you to all the sponsors for giving us so many goodies to reward the kids with. Thanks to Trevor and FRS for supplying some solid drinks, thank you to Chipotle for feeding all the hungry kids. Also, big thank you to Laszlo and all the park staff for making Clairmont the funnest, most positive park I've ever ridden. A real big thank you to Justin Kosman who filmed and edited the D'sgiving video which can already be viewed on bnqt. The video only gives you a small taste of the positivity that flowed that day but just know that it was a glorious day. Thanks to Nuno, Harrison and all the homies at Defgrip for bringing us up, thanks to B-Dubb as always and everyone else who supports Give D Clothing and its crew. D! to everyone...

-Alex @ Give D!

Give D.. Alex B interview!

Name:

Alex Bermudez...AKA "The Lord of D"

Location:

San Diego,CA

What exactly is Give D, and What does the D stand for?

Oh man here comes my dumb story....One night some of my old riding buddies and I were shreddin the high school we attended. We were still beginners in riding ability and that night I set out to learn disasters with the crew.Well after so many tries I finally landed my first disaster...Everyone was siked as fuck and when I came to the group to receive praise I stuck out the fist and said "D for disaster".Everyone acknowledged the fist pound as "D" from that night on and ever since then its been accepted as proper praise in SD.That all happened when I was a freshman in high school, its been over 6 years now of that term being in use. From there it spread around our area and then traveled with us to other parts of Southern California...I hear crazy things all the time still about being the inventor of D and all that...It's kind of weird sometimes that anyone would even care to mention it all...D is just a fist pound.haha.But Give D is a crew,a way of life...A group of people who try to put fun, creativity and positivity back into BMX.

So are you the man in charge of Give D?

Yes,I'm the owner and operator of Give D Clothing.I would be nothing without my team though, together we make things happen.Web edits, clothing designs,contests,parties,everything...

The team is pretty large, with a lot of pretty well known guys along with a few unknown people, is there a reason for it being so big compared to most teams?

Haha yeah,we have a rather large team, but we've downsized a bit lately. We're down to a solid 12 person team but we have a large crew of people who are still GDC homies and all.If you support D then your a part of Give D in one way or another...We're no different from your average sized bmx team.We just try to bring something different to the table with everything we do...

Give D is a clothing company, when do you expect to have some stuff up for sale?

We recently brought our new line of D shirts right in time for Interbike. The new line consists of 5 different shirt designs and soon all will be available via Paypal shopping cart on both the Dspace and D site. All of the new tees can be viewed right now on both the D space and Fasetto.com.We're gettin around to numerous bike shops with carrying our apparel and we hope to soon be in Dans Comp mailorder...Stuff is for sale as I type this, you just gotta be local right now to get your hands on D goodies...Soon that will all change...

Is the company a full time job or is it something you do on the side for fun?

Well, the company started in September of 06' as a side project due to my full time construction job.Shortly after creating GDC I was laid off due to downsizing of the company I worked for...My care for a construction career quickly faded out after losing my apprenticeship and I started really focusing on the company and what GDC could possibly become.I could've continued my apprenticeship elsewhere but I realized I wasn't cut out for that 8-5 life, building custom kitchens and bathrooms...

Do you have any big goals set for the company?

I dont know if its considered a big goal but next year I want to have a prime D booth at Interbike with a legit GDC DVD debut at our booth.Between now and then we'll have a ton more monthly web edits on Defgrip, new shirt designs, work our way into Dans comp/bike shops and get our first DVD out...

There has been a few web videos floating around a bunch of the bigger websites, is there a DVD in the works?

We try to pump out a constant flow of web edits,we're constantly producing and making things happen wherever we go.GDC just recently got into really making web edits often, thanks to Nuno and Harrison at Defgrip.Defgrip recently picked us up for monthly web edits and we couldn't be more happy with how its worked out.Expect a lot more web edits all the damn time....A DVD is definitely in the works. After this coming Friday, when "I Love L.A." drops on Defgrip,we start to really put in work with the DVD and everything else we have in store...

What can you tell us about the DVD, whose in it, when is it expected to be out, is there a name for it, who all has parts?

Ha I can tell you what I would like and what I know for a fact...What I would like to happen is to have the DVD out by December or January...What I know for a fact is all of the D team will be in it.Thus being...Hoang Tran,Kyle Hart,Albert Mercado,Chris Hervan,Nick Corsiglia,Dirt Ron,Steve Kennedy,Steve Kerr,Steve Woodward,Tammy McCarley,Braden Ross and myself.Of course there will be others such as Dennis Enarson,Alfredawg Mancuso,Mario Carrasco and other friends of D in there as well...

It looks like the majority of the team is from the south west, is it kind of based around that area of the country or is this going world wide?

Give D is San Diego based,we all live here and we're basically a big family that always together.Whether we're riding, chillin or partying,we're together kickin lots of ass.We have no plans on beefing up our team any time soon with out of towners but we can always use the support from everyone no matter where your located.I'm not sure how world wide we'll get, only time can tell. What we do know is that we'll keep riding and doing what we do best always...

Is there any big road trips or events planned for the team?

We plan on a roadtrip soon,no exact location on where yet,but soon...Next big event for the D team and San Diego for that matter is Biketoberfest at our local YMCA park. Its where we ride almost to often and its where you can also find us on a normal basis..GDC took title sponser this year for the event and I'm pretty stoked on that...We have a lot of things in mind, its only a matter of time until it all starts hittin.

Where will people be able to get their hands on Give D goods?

Well, like I said were workin our way around to bike shops in SD and soon Dans Comp.Right now you can find our shirts at Henrys bike shop in Santee and during the next week,in a few other bike shops around Southern California like Omega bikes,Epic,etc..The Paypal shopping cart will be equipped soon and if you really want D goodies, you can send me mailorders and an address to send merch to.All of which can be done if you email me at Alex@givedclothing.com

Is there any shout outs or thanks you would like to throw out?

First off,I would like to thank my grandmother,Doody...Shes the absolute reason why GDC is even around. She funds everything we do and is the sweetest lady on earth and I love her very much.Thank you to my crew for always kickin ass and producing to the best of their ability, which is always above and beyond expectations.Give D crew consists of my closest friends and they're what keeps me going and flowing with positivity.Huge thank you to Nuno and Harrison at Defgrip for everything they've been able to do for us thus far...Also thank you to B-Dubbs,Jim Bauer and Nuno again at Odyssey.Thank you also goes out to my beautiful, supportive girlfriend Lauren, shes always there for me doing what she can.Thank you to everyone out there who supports Give D and everything we do!!! Thank you for this Interview Kurt! D to everyone!

Any other last words or anything I missed you think should have been?

69 brother.That is all.

This is the San Francisco trip that Ron, Kyle, Hoang and Myself took earlier this year. It was my first venture to S.F. and it was an adventure that I won't soon forget. By far the best trip I've had in my entire life and I cant wait to go to S.F. again to kick its ass... This story is told by Hoang and most of the photos were taken by either Hoang or others on the trip... Enjoy.

So kyle and I were determined to go somewhere, anywhere, just to ride bikes and spend some time out of San Diego. We ended up on a trip to San Francisco... Here are some pictures, random thoughts and memorable quotes from the weekend.

So this time the crew was Kyle, Ron, Alex,The Lord of all D and myself...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
We left San Diego Thursday evening.Everyone, not having very much money in their pockets or any sense of what was going to happen this weekend.Everyone hopped into Kyle's truck with no regrets.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
We stopped a bunch on the drive up so we could stretch our legs and walk around for a bit. Here I am making one of the thousands of Nutella sandwiches I would consume over the weekend.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Ron got the party started early.Wooohooo spring break!!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Kyle drank about a billion energy drinks throughout the trip.He drank one called Spike and you actually have to be 18 years old to buy it.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
We all got tired of driving and we all started to get a little delirious. It was freezing outside,so we decided to roll down all the windows and get naked to pass some time and stay awake.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
On the drive up, Alex wanted to ride every time we stopped. This is him getting vertical while Ron and Kyle get gay.

"Everyone wants to play Air Guitar but I'm going to play air tamborine! That guy is important too but no one remembers him." -Ron about tamborine players during a Boston song.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
We spent a lot of time stopping at truck stops to look at all the cool items. Ron wanted a knife for 5 bucks that looked like a toothpick,it was so small but it was sold out. Kyle bought a knife and I bought a mug that I would lose very soon.

Random memorable quotes from the car ride:

"Having no money isn't that bad, it makes you drug and alcohol free....and sometimes food free..." -Ron

"Do you have anymore iced tea?" -Ron

"Hell no." -Kyle

"Peanut butter was a bad choice" -Ron

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!! Boyz 2 Men is on" -Kyle

"We can go to vans skatepark" -Kyle

"Yeah..and I could slit my throat with this plastic spoon but I'm not going to." -Ron

"You can write that down" -Kyle, about everything he said or is about to say

"Man, I was feeling that smooooth jazz" -Hoang at 3 AM

"How about you go straight to hell" -Kyle

*long pause*".........OK......" -Hoang

We finally arrived to San Francisco and I called Melissa who was supposed to provide us with a place to sleep but she didn't pick up.So Kyle decided to go to sleep in his truck while Ron,Alex and I decided to try our luck sleeping outside. It was that bad other than the fact that it was really cold and there were misquitos the size of 99cent burritos.

Melissa called us in the morning so we all dashed over there but only stayed for a bit, we took off to go ride around in the city.Basically,we went around got some random photos, Kyle got a flat and then we had to walk around the city for 2 hours looking for a bike shop.I 180ed some stuff, we got kicked out of every damn spot.

We called it a day after that and went to get Michelle so I could hang out with her for a little bit since we were up there. We got some food then we all went back to San Fran and fell asleep pretty early. The next morning we woke up to rain so decided to head over to Haight street for some breakfast. We ended up eating a bunch of doughnuts..

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We then walked around Haight and looked at some shops. As I walk out of one store,I see Ron sharing alcohol with some bum. Turns out the guy asked Ron for money to buy weed,so Ron gave him a dollar and in return the bum gave Ron vodka.

Alex didn't have much money on the trip and found this pepperoni in the doorway of a pizza shop...Now, so you know this pepperoni wasn't recently dropped on the floor it looked like it had been there for hours if not days.It was crusty and looked to be apart of the ground by now.Alex didn't think twice about picking it up and eating it....No Regrets

It soon dried up enough so we drove over to Berkeley to ride the cement park..

I didn't ride much at the park cause somwhere around the second run,I got a dick vacuum...(For those who don't know,it's where you slip both feet and land on your tire then your tire sucks you into the rear triangle and your dicks get worked by your bike and you lay there in pain.)We then left because we were starving, ended up at McDonalds and talked to a guy named "Big Bob" for a few hours. After that we headed back to San Fran to get wild.We get back and Alex decides to ride some bikes in the room we were staying in....

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The night was pretty crazy, lots of people I didn't know, adult beverages, weeeeeeeeeeeed and good times. At one point we (Ron,Alex and I) all took showers as girls watched us.Kyle went to bed at around 2AM,I clocked out at 4AM all while Alex and Ron got rad,I don't know when they went to bed.....But here are some photos from the night.

Kyle told me to type something for this next photo but i already forgot...but this is me jumping out of the park

Ron then 360ed of the sub box over a quarter to flat.He pretty much landed it first try and kept trying it but ended up just dying...

After that we packed up and started driving home,we stopped on the side of the road to take some pictures. We ended up throwing rocks at a telephone pole from the train tracks for about an hour.

Well thats it,hope that was a little bit enjoyable to read and look at.Thanks again to Melissa and her friends for letting us stay the night and be dirty. Thanks to Tony Campos for letting us ride his ramps and to everyone else who hung out with us. Overall the trip was awesome, now I'll leave you with some random quotes from the trip.....

"If Hoang doesn't think your rad, your a dumb piece of shit" -Kyle

"This right now is one of the very few moments that I actually wish i had underwear on" -Ron looking at Alex comfortably sitting in the car

"Fuck it, just let it hang" -Kyle to Ron
