Real quick, we have had a lot of cancelations, travel and booking problems.  I just wanted to get everyone up to speed real quick and apologize for any shows anyone was planning on attending that were canceled.  We were planning on attending, too.  So the jist of what happened is that we had a 6 week tour planned ending at the Rebellion Fest in August.  Between the recession, clubs not booking many gigs in July, and our booking agent having trouble filling in our open dates, we were not able to do the complete tour.  We had already bought our tickets and the only way we could change them was once we got over here.  We were still trying to get on as many shows as we could to make the most of our time.  Well, Hidden Talent managed to add on a few more shows, in 2 of our favorite cities, no less (Brighton and London), but then came the travel complications...... British Airways only had 1 flight back home a day which were all sold out until the end of the month.  Our only chance to get back home was after the Norwich show.   We have already told Hidden Talent that we are up for returning in November, so start telling us where we should play.  Even though our tour ended up being only two weeks, The Luchawhores really came out to support.  It turned out way better than we all imagined, and are excited to do it all again.  We can;t do it without the support of our fans and friends so if you know somewhere we should play, a cool club, or promoter, let us or Ian, at Hidden Talent know and we will do our best to make it out to see you guys.  Thanks for the understanding and continued support.  xxoo, Amy

Interview: The Luchagors
luchagorsThe Luchagors body-slammed their way through Newcastle during their second UK tour (wrestling pun unintended, well, okay, maybe a little…) and we were lucky enough to get a chat with them all. We got talking about: touring the UK, the pros and cons of their front woman being former WWE Diva Lita, plans for their next album, ice factories, and more.
Faye: Can you say your names and what you do in the band?
Amy: I am Amy Dumas, I sing.
Jay: I’m Jay Heburg, I play bass.
Racci: I’m Racci Shay, yeah! I play drums.
Shane: And I’m Shane Morton, I play guitar.
Faye: How did you all meet?
Amy: We met when I would skip high school, and he [Shane] was working at a t-shirt shop that sold punk rock t-shirts, he was in a local band at the time, and I’d go see all his shows, so that’s how I knew Shane. Then I moved back to Atlanta about 3-and-a-half years ago and we reconnected then. Jay, Racci and Shane have all been friends forever.
George: Racci, you used to play for Dope and Wednesday 13, and have just joined The Luchagors, how did you get involved?
Racci: I got involved because these people have been my best friends forever.
Amy: Alice Cooper didn’t call, so, he was like, “Damn…”. [laughs]
Racci: He actually did, but I turned him down because I knew that Shane Morton was a guitar God. [laughs]
Shane: I’ve wanted to play with Racci for 15-years and he wasn’t doing anything right then at that moment…
Racci: And now I am.
Faye: You play a rather old-school style of pop-punk, what attracted you to that style and scene?
Amy: That’s what I grew up on, I went to my first show in like ’88 or ’89 at 12-years-old and that’s where I fit, so that was naturally the kind of band that I wanted to be in.
Faye: What was your first punk rock show?
Amy: My first punk rock show was 7Seconds and Circle Jerks.
Jay: Which I opened for. [laughs]
Amy: Yeah, Jay’s band opened for 7Seconds and Circle Jerks back then.
Jay: But we didn’t know each other.
Faye: You first came over to the UK last summer, how was that?
Amy: Ten times better than what I thought it would be.
Jay: For being a new and outside band, we did really, really well.
Faye: Is that why you came back to the UK so soon?
Shane: It wasn’t soon enough!
Amy: Yeah, we were supposed to come back in March, but we were switching drummers and we hadn’t convinced Racci yet to play for us, so we were drummerless at that moment, so we had our shows pushed to now and here we are.
Racci: We do want to come back even sooner, though.
Amy: Yeah, we’re coming back in November.
George: Do you find that there’s more punk fans or wrestling fans that attend your shows?
Amy: I’ve found that it’s starting to evolve, because that novelty factor has worn off. On our first tour, people are curious and people who aren’t fans of our style of music, they’re just going to come that one time to get all their action figures signed and they’re not going to come back, and that’s fine.
Shane: Then we proved ourselves to all the punk rockers, because they didn’t know that she was a punk rocker before she was a wrestler, then they’re like, “Oh, shit, it’s a real band with real people doing real stuff.” and like us.
Amy: Yeah, it’s not like this produced, hired-band behind me, which I think a lot of people think it is. You can see within a couple minutes of seeing us walk around the club that it’s not that.
Racci: We’re at the bar drinking with the locals having a good time, raising hell, and we just kind of blend in because we want to be here. It’s the same reason that they want to be here, because we want to watch bands, have a good time and just enjoy ourselves.
Shane: You can tell by our giant, air-conditioned tour bus that we mean business… [laughs]
Amy: Our tour manager is bitching about us cutting on the van. [laughs] No, we love it!
Faye: Do you find that you’ve introduced a lot of wrestling fans to new music and converted them into fans?
Amy: Totally, it’s pretty awesome, because sometimes people in punk rock can be a elitist, like they were born listening to punk rock and it’s like who’s more punk than who, but it’s like, who cares? It’s about your mind, your soul, your heart, and why you live life, that’s what punk rock is. I wrote a book a few years ago and I talked a lot about my upbringing and punk rock and stuff, which exposed some people to it. I also have a radio show in Atlanta, it’s an hour punk show and that exposes people to it. I think it’s really cool, you can tell there’s people that get it, like I’ll get these emails saying, “Woah, I never knew about this!” and they’re so honest, they’re not like, “Oh, well, I kinda knew about punk rock”, y’know? People can put up this front, but they’re like, “Wow, I never knew about it, these lyrics speak to me, and it’s changed my life.” And I can totally relate to that because during my first punk show, when I went with my friend from the bus stop, to 7Seconds and Circle Jerks, I was like, “This is changing my life, this is where I belong.” To get emails from other people and I know what they’re feeling is awesome.
George: You’re known to take a very DIY-approach with the way you tour, play shows and such, is it important for you to work your way up the ranks the hard way?
Amy: Yeah, the thing is, when I left the WWE, we were already playing in a band, it could have been really easy, we had offers to kind-of coattail our ride like, “We wanna put you in this studio in L.A. and have these producers working with you.” But then it’s like these other people’s fingers are in this project and you can get influenced by other people, and I definitely didn’t want that. It was really important for me not only prove the doubters wrong, I know we have a million doubters and we always will and that’s fine, but to also, for us, as a band, to figure out what we were going to be and what we want to be, as opposed to have someone tell us what to be. For the album that we’re going to put out next, we are going to demo it and shop it around to some labels that we want to be on, but it was important to put out the first one like we did, so we could figure out what we wanted to do instead of having someone else influencing it. Now that we’ve done four U.S. tours and two U.K. tours, we’re like “Okay, we can listen to someone else’s perspective.” and be like, “We can try that, sure.” or “Ugh, no, we kind of already went that way, but don’t want to now.”
Faye: So, do you feel that being an already known figure has definitely been an advantage for the band?
Amy: I feel like it has sucked, actually. [laughs] It’s a Catch-22 because people have a pre-conceived notion. However, I don’t think our booking agent would have approached us, an unsigned band, without a label, being like, “Hey, do you want me to book you shows over here? I can book you a month of shows”, had I not had previous notoriety, so for that instance, it’s been good. So, yeah, we are going to shop our stuff to labels in the future, but it’s a Catch-22 really. Yeah, we get to tour off the bat because I have a little bit of notoriety, but at the same time we get booked at a lot of pool halls that wrestling fans come to get their trading cards signed.
Shane: Especially, in the States, we’ve played some questionable places. [laughs]
Jay: We’ve been way more accepted in the UK, than over there.
Faye: Are you looking to go back to wrestling any time in the near future?
Amy: No, not at all.
Racci: She beat me just yesterday!
Amy: I did, it was just the case of the worms, though! The worms started when I toured with Fifteen, in the nineties, it’s like when it’s about 45-minutes or so before you get to the venue, where you’re just like, “I’ve got to get out of this van!” and you just want to tackle somebody and roll around and scream and stick your head out of the window. [laughs] But, yeah, my priority is definitely not wrestling, and that’s not to say I don’t appreciate where I came from or that I don’t love the experiences that I had on the road or that I don’t love a lot of people on the roster, it’s just that it’s not where my head is, it’s not where my heart is right now.
Faye: Were you invited to take part in the 25-Diva Battle Royal atWrestleMania 25, this year? If so, why did you turn it down?
Amy: Did you see that match?!
Faye: Yeah, it was so bad!
Amy: Right, that’s why I turned it down. [laughs] I did watch it, though. I was dying laughing, I was in stitches, rolling on the couch, thinking, “Thank God, I’m not there, because that is nothing I need to be a part of.” No, first of all, let me tell you this, because Kid Rock was playing for like forever, right? I was like, “Get out of the way, what is this guy doing?! Come on! I didn’t know this guy still sang!” and then, these girls started coming out and I’m thinking they’re like his hoes, his hired dancers, about to break out into some choreographed Beyoncé-shit, but then I realised and was like, “Oh my God!” I can only imagine them being like, “So, what we’re wanting you to do is: grab Kid Rock’s leg, start grinding up on it, then go into the ring and do a drop toehold.” I’d be like, “Absolutely not, under no circumstances.” So, yeah, that is why I did not do that match.
George: You released your self-titled in 2007, how will your next album differ from it?
Amy: It’s going to be a totally different thing because me and Shane wrote the first whole record together, on an acoustic guitar just sitting on my couch. I was still a bit in my shell, exploring song writing, but now that I have a little more confidence and experience and these guys have been doing it forever. We’re going to be writing the whole record together, it’s going to have a different feel to it. It’ll still sound like the same band, for sure, I can’t say it’s going to be one of those records that you don’t recognise the band from one record to the next, but I think you’ll be able to tell that it’s a whole band collaborative effort. I’m excited about it.
Faye: Do you have any idea when it’ll be out?
Amy: I don’t know, probably not before we’re back here in November, but we’re going to be working on it before November.
Faye: What are you getting up to after this tour?
Amy: We’re going to go home, take a shower, we need to hold some ‘benefit for UK plane ticket shows’ to get back over here in November. They tried to get us back in October, but October is Shane’s month because he does a lot of stuff to do with all-things horror and myself, too.
Shane: Basically, we’re horror whores.
Amy: Racci gets pulled into it sometimes by default, but myself, Shane, and Jay do this thing at the last Saturday of every month called the Silver Scream Spook Show, Shane can tell you about it.
Shane: Yeah, it’s like an old spook show thing, where we have dancing girls, live comedy, a magic show and a classic monster movie on the big screen. It’s pretty huge, you should check it out atsilverscreamspookshow.com and it’s really awesome.
Faye: What is it about horror that you like?
Shane: I was just raised on it, I love it, I do special effects for movies and stuff.
Amy: That’s his punk rock.
George: Change the record, who should we be listening to?
Shane: I would say The Riverboat Gamblers and Valient Thorr right now are the two you should be listening to.
Amy: The Bronx, too. I love H2O, I think their Nothing To Prove album was album of the year, I think it’s awesome.
Shane: But my personal favourite right now is The Riverboat Gamblers, no one knows about them and they’re great, so good.
Amy: They’re on tour right now with Rancid and Rise Against, so hopefully they’ll get on the road and get some recognition, because they’re great. Oh, and One-Eyed Doll, they’re friends of ours from Austin, Texas, they’re awesome and nobody knows about them. Those are bands where you’ll be like, “How did I not know about them? They’re awesome!”
Shane: And, of course, us!
Racci: If you ever get bored, just bust out Alice Cooper – Killer, you can never lose with that.
George: Is there anything you want to add?
Racci: I will, I think I’m going to open a company over here that just distributes ice throughout the country. I’m going to make billions of dollars doing that.
Shane: Yeah, why are there not ice machines all over? We’re dying, it’s fucking hot, do you not like ice in your drinks?
Racci: I mean, in the States, we can go to a convenient store and buy huge bags of ice for like $2 dollars.
Shane: Everybody loves ice.
Racci: So, in closing, we’re going to open an ice factory in Newcastle, you can count on that.
Amy: That’s going to fund our next UK tour.
Shane: Actually, we’re going to pump up all your refrigerators, so your drinks are actually cold here, they’re like, “Cold drinks, right here!” and I’m like, “Pfft, what?!”
Racci: We’re not being wankers, we’re just trying to tell you that ice is great and you’re going to love it when we do it.

We've been on tour a week and so much has happened. Some bad, mostly great, but here you go... I guess tour officially started in Atlanta last Monday at Smith's Old Bar. We had a fun show w/ our friends The Dollyrots and proceeded to stay up way too late with those guys and then do a million last minute things before taking off to Birmingham, AL the next day. I was starting to not feel so good but I tried to ignore it. A sore throat for a singer not 2 days into tour is not good. Off to New Orleans! We played the HiHo Lounge which is a super cool place with cool people. We find out that day that our show in Houston is canceled because "the club shut down". We're bummed, but what can you do? I wake up in New Orleans super sick and go to urgent care. They tell me I have strep throat and give me 3 shots of something that made me feel better pretty quick, so I'm psyched. Off to Austin- we love it there! We have lots of friends there and now we have more. Oh, wait did I mention, now we find out there was a knife fight at the club in Waco, so we now have two canceled shows. Awesome. Not really. Our show in Austin w/ One-Eyed Doll was great, and I was excited to play with them again. So now we have two days off, so we're scrounging around for shows to see if we can fill either of those dates. We're sitting at our friend Doss' house around oh 4am and Dave from the Krum Bums decides we are doing a show outside Bombs Away- a cool punk rock clothing store, next to a pizza joint and a killer record shop. Meanwhile, we do some digging about this club that shut down in Houston. Turns out, the club was having to scramble to re book the night because the promoter told the club that we said we weren't coming due to financial reasons. Flat out lies!! So uncool. Anyways, we ended up having a blast in the parking lot outside Liz's store, Bombs Away! Check out the pix in our pix section. Mike Truth, the promoter from our Austin show got us added on to a show in San Antonio, so we lucked out there, too. We got to hang w/ our friends in Madex 13 too, so that was a bonus! Now the drive where you have to make sure your gas tank is full from San Antonio to El Paso. I don't remember how long it was supposed to be, but we left around 8am and got there at show time. An 18 wheeler ran over a cone and it came flying at us. Bout an hour later our faithful Sprinter decides it can't go above about 45 mph up a hill and we could catch about 60mph with a good tail wind and downhill. Keep in mind, this is where the speed limits are posted as 75mph so everyone is flying by us. Kinda stressful, but we played the show and I went to the mechanic at 7 am and had us on the road by noon. That left us time to see the famous roadside attraction "The Thing" in New Mexico , and get lunch and a Scorpion Bowl at the Kon Tiki in Albuquerque. All speed bumps aside, and lying promoters. grr. we are having a blast flying by the collective seat of our pants, and have met and hung out with some amazing friends- new and old. Off to LA!!- xxoo, Amy

I haven’t written a blog in awhile, so I don’t know where to start on catching everybody up. We’ve had some ups and downs on this tour, but everything aside, we are all having a great time. So what’s everything you ask? Well, Our first stop on the tour was a Friday night in Jasper, Alabama. Our plan was to rock Jasper, come back through Atlanta so Shane, Jay and I could do the February Silver Scream Spook Show, and then go on to St. Louis to freeze our asses off until we got back down south. Well Foxy, our ’88 Ford Econoline, had other plans. We made it 15 miles outside of town, stopped for gas, and noticed our radiator was spewing fluid and smoke everywhere. So, we cooled it down, crossed our fingers, called in a bunch of favors and made it back to Atlanta in hopes to get Foxy ready for the rest of the tour. By this time, we got word that our St. Louis show had canceled, which sucked, but gave us an extra day to get the van situation figured out. We had our friend Travis looking at the van who thought he could have it ready that night. I got a text at 5 am saying things are not looking good with the van. To say I was stressed out at this point would have been an understatement. The show must go on, so the monthly shenanigans of the Spook Show ensued with the 1’oclock day show. In between rehearsals, and setting up for the show, I am online looking for a new van because at this point, I don’t have alot of faith in Foxy, no offense ’ol girl. So in between day show and night show I go with Jay to look at a Sprinter. You know those boxy Euro diesel vans? Oh, and btw, you can’t put more than 3,000 miles on a rental in 1 month, and we’ve already gone over 5,000 miles, because I looked into that, as well. A few hours later I pull up to the night show with our new- yet to be named- completely under warranty-Sprinter! We all knock out the spook show and pack up about 2am or so. Bright and early the next morning Shane and Jay equipped with loft supplies construct a cage for our gear that doubles as a bed/ loft in the van. We leave for tour Sunday night to make it to our Springfield, IL (famous for The Simpsons and Lincoln) show the next day. Psyched to get officially started we load in our gear in 20 degree weather, rock the show, and hop back in the van to get some miles in that night. I guess it was around this time my back started to get pissed off at me. The next morning I literally could not get out of bed. I was on the phone with my chiropractor and found somewhere in Dayton? maybe, to get adjusted. The next few days were pretty tough and you’d understand more why if you have already seen us live. Moving forward- so, my back is starting to feel better, and we head up to New Hampshire and Mass to do a few shows with some friends who happen to be sick. Everyone in Ashers denies their involvement in getting us all sick, ha, ha but really who knows, the weather was still freezing up there and I’m sure there were a bunch of you guys at those shows who were sick. No point in fessing up now, you can’t keep a good Luchagor down, anyways, at least not for long! I completely lost my voice for a couple days and was really starting to freak out. Not just because it’s annoying, but we are in the middle of a tour! We did have to cancel one show because of it, and that totally sucks, but we’ll be back to the Pittsburgh area. Now we are heading back through the south. We made a pit stop in Knoxville- much shorter than we anticipated- to find out that the promoter was like Luchagor who? Nope- no one here by that name. Man, and I was hoping Dolly Parton was going to be there tonight! Well, I am typing this as we are on the way to Richmond for our show tomorrow and to see some friends, as it is my old stomping grounds. We have met a lot of street team members and we need more!! If this blog is for nothing else, I hope you guys see how much effort we put into this band. It’s just the 4 of us on the open road, plowing our way through whatever road blocks stand in our way. One show at a time, uniting and creating Luchawhores everywhere!!! We all appreciate your support and love getting to meet and hang out with everyone after the shows. Take care out there- and we will too!!- xxoo, amy

Bad Luchagors!- No blog in forever! So... Lemme see.. Mexico- well, let's just say the vacation part of it was a blast. The guys had never been to Mexico City before and it's one of my all time favorite places, so it was cool to be able to show them around. The show.., well let's just say that Triple A was not ready to handle the production and equipment that is required for a band to play on their show, and unfortunately, we had to find out the hard way. I'm going to assume they're just going to stick to putting on a wrestling show. Our CD is officially in the duplication process. We will begin taking pre orders as soon as they give us a ship date. We are looking to start a street team to help us spread the word, so contact luchagors.com tell them you are interested and they will hook it up. We've got fun exclusives for street team members, so don't wait to sign up. Our drummer, Troy, decided he didn't have the desire or level of commitment needed to rock you "Luchawhores". Not to worry, as we have already had several inquiries and are excited about finding the final piece of the the group who wants to go out on the road and meet you guys. Anyone who can make it to DragonCon this year should not pass that up. We hope to have our CD's unofficially on sale that weekend, and we're playing Friday night. I'll let you know when you can pre- order CD's and post pictures as soon as we confirm our new 4th member. xxoo, amy

So how goes it, guys? The gors have been super busy, I haven't even seen PIRATES yet!!! We just played our first 2 out of town shows and are beginning to talk to people about touring. The whole band has been a bit overzealous and I know I originally told you guys the CD would be out in April and here it is almost June and still NO CD!! Yes, I know you Luchawhores are getting impatient. Well, it's not for a lack of trying. We are doing everything ourselves and we are all our own worst critics, so we want everything 'just so' before you guys lay eyes on it. Not to mention, all the legal mumbo jumbo that goes along with it all. I'm sending out a bunch of orders from the Luchastore (luchagors.com) so be checking your mailboxes if you placed an order, and if ya didn't, well what are you waiting for??? Thanks, you guys in Macon for showing us love when we came down there. We all had a blast. We've also received a ton of emails and comments about our 600fest show in Charlotte, NC this past weekend. Other than all of us baking on stage and you guys in the crowd, while the sun did feel like it could literally cook us we can't wait to go back and play Charlotte again. Send us your pics from the event. I want to see 'em. I finally played a track off our new album this past week on PunkRockalypse. The Luchagors are definitely the most requested band on the show. For those of you guys that haven't tuned in yet, what are you waiting for??? Oh, wait I already used that one. You can listen to it if you don't live in Atlanta on project961.com every Sunday night @ 9pm. I have the funniest foster dog right now. Ya know, the kind you just look at and have to smile cuz he's so damn goofy looking. I say he's a terrier/goat mix if you can get that picture in your head. His name is Bert, he was found in a DUMPSTER w/ his brother Ernie. I just can't believe the inhumane qualities that humans posses sometimes. I really enjoy my work @ the shelter and of course I am happy each time a dog goes to their new home, but  ignorant people continue to exacerbate the ongoing overpopulation problem. The shelter I am currently volunteering at is a no kill shelter, but the reality is that there are still over 1 MILLION dogs euthanized every year. Numbers are hard to digest, but when I look at Bert and think that if would not have made it to a no kill shelter he would have been a number. Hmmm, well that was quite the tangent. On another note, I am really excited that summer is here.  I already went to 6 Flags this year and I am ready to actually have a summer.  This year's Memorial Day was the first time I was not at a RAW in 7 years.  There were summers I never put on a bathing suit unless I was getting photographed in it!  That's how busy I stayed.  I stay busy now, but it just feels totally different and not stressful.  I am excited to be busy, not overwhelmed. Well, that about does it, we'll fill your orders asap from the luchastore, I'll get your requests on PunkRockalypse when I can, I'll let you know as soon as I do on an exact date for our CD release and you guys do me 1 favor.... SPAY and NEUTER YOUR DAMN PETS!!!!!!!!

Hey guys, long time no blog, but I am back with some new Luchagor related topics for ya. So for any of you guys that didn't get to hear my interview on Project 961 last Friday. I am going to be a DJ! Atlanta will now have a punk show Sunday nights @ 9pm EST. You can listen to PunkRockalypse online @ Project961.com and listen to it live. I am bringing in a couple of my old school girlfriends from high school that I would go to shows with back then to come hang out with me for the first show. Look for me to play some new tracks off the new record in the coming weeks. I am really excited about bringing in my CD's and giving some air time to some super cool and influential bands I grew up listening to, as well as some new stuff, too. No Lie- the merch section is finally up and running. With overseas delivery available. too! We will keep putting new stuff up, so keep checking back at Luchagors.com. We know you have been patient so we will be quick at processing your orders- promise. Send us your pix wearing your Luchagear so we can put them up on the website. Thanks for all my B-Day wishes, you guys are great!!! Take care, amy xxoo

We just finished all the tracks for our impending album. I don't pat myself on the back too often, but IT SO ROCKS!!!! I can't wait to unleash it to the masses. Rachel still has to mix it and it still has to mastered and stuff, but soon! So Matt Roberts came back in town to shoot the band on one of our last days in the studio. We got a bunch of good stuff and I'm sure you will see more of that around. Our friend Evan Bartleson from the band Black Daniels came in on the last night and documented us laying down the final tracks. We had some friends come into the studio to help yell on some gang vocal stuff. Stacey6, bass player and back up screamer for Damage Report came in and yelled for us, as well a long time friend of the band Eric Snoddy. You guys might remember him from my book as 'Noodlehead', or maybe not. Our friend Melissa was being shy at first, but had a blast yelling along to The Luchagors. It was a great end to a great recording session. Well, we had fun, Rachel was having a hard time with us bein all crazy and social, but that's what he holds the whip for! We are all really proud of this and even the guys, who have all been in bands their whole adult lives have really pushed ourselves to make this record something really special.
