While there are some great Bookmark Manager sites out there like del.icio.us and furl.net, none of them give you the privacy options that Linkatopia.com gives you. With Linkatopia, you can keep all of your bookmarks or favorites online so you always have them and you can set each link to "Public", where anyone can see it, "Private" where no one but you can see it, or "Friends Only", where only the people in your Linkatopia friends list can see it. I just launched my new business web site, www.Design215.com. It was a lot of work but it was worth it.
If you live in the South Florida area, I can do your headshot, composite, or portfolio pictures. If you're an artist, I can do photos or slides of your artwork. If you have products, I can professionally photograph them in my studio.
Even if you don't need my services, Design215.com has a collection of useful tools like Spellcheck. Simply copy and paste some text in the form and you can spellcheck your Myspace profile and your blogs. =)

Rob's Wilma Photos, Day 5 - PLEASE REPOST
Okay, so if you've been keeping track, you know that Hurricane Wilma struck South Florida around 4am EST Monday. I went out to get pics later that day and posted a few of them in my first hurricane blog. Tuesday, I went out again and posted more pics in my Day 2 blog.
Wednesday, I went to my office and nowhere else because my truck was almost on empty. My office actually had power, probably because there is a hospital 2 blocks away. I spent the night at the office, on the floor, resting on top of my sleeping bag and a pillow. Thursday, I went out looking for gas and I took a few more pics. I waited in line for about 3 hours and pushed my truck along by hand so I wouldn't run out of gas. (photo below) When I finally got to the pump, I was only allowed to have $20 of gas, which basically gave me a quarter of a tank.
Today, Friday, I went out looking for gas again. I drove really slow so I would use the least amount of fuel. I saw lines that stretched for what looked like a mile. I finally found a station that had only opened recently and the line was only 4 or 5 blocks long. (photo below) I waited in this line for about 2 hours, once again pushing my truck the entire way. I was only allowed another $20 of gas, so now I had half a tank. The last photo in this set is a closeup of my truck as I waited in line. A black bird (a raven lol??) landed on the roof of my truck as I was taking the shot of the gas line. I saw a few of these birds fly past but only one of them landed on a vehicle and it happened to be my truck. If you are familiar with my Edgar Allan Poe site, www.PoeStories.com, you'll understand the irony.

Rob's Wilma Photos, Day 1 - PLEASE REPOST
Hurricane Wilma became a Category 3 storm before it hit South Florida around 4am EST, Monday, October 24, 2005. I was home, protecting my gear, and about 10 years worth of film and slides. I live about 5 blocks from the beach. Everyone in 3 counties including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Pompano, lost power around 7am. The winds were incredible and did not let up until around 1pm.
Most people in Broward county do not have running water. There is no electricity. I use a regulated power inverter in my truck to keep my laptop, and camera batteries charged. My cell phone has not worked since the power went out. I've heard that Cingular phones work. Surprisingly, land line phones still work and I can connect to the internet using my laptop and a dialup connection in Boca Raton. As soon as the winds let up, I went out with in my truck with my laptop and camera to get the shots below. While it certainly isn't New Orleans, I've heard on the news that it could take a month to get everyone's power back on.

What Edgar Allan Poe says about the news...
Yes, I'm a Poe fanatic but he definitely had a clue about a lot of things. Here is what he wrote about our Newspapers (the only source of news in 1842)...
"We should bear in mind that, in general, it is the object of our newspapers rather to create a sensation - to make a point - than to further the cause of truth."
I think this applies to CNN, FOX, and just about every other new source we have today.

I just wanted to announce the official launch of my Edgar Allan Poe site. There were a few Poe sites out there already, but nothing with a nice clean interface that would inspire me to read some of Poe's stories, were I not already a fan.
Check it out at http://www.poestories.com
Poe wrote some great short stories that not many people are aware of. In addition to his great horror stories, he invented the detective story and also wrote a few love stories and some satirical comedies. On my site, you can browse summaries of his stories or you can just start reading.
Enjoy,
Robert
