Current mood:  blissful
Well, we did it. We are married! If you want to see pictures, we’ll be periodically updating our Guess What We’re Married Party site, which is a MySpace site that is in my "Top Friends" list. Have a peek!

Current mood:  excited
In case you're confused by the new myspace profile that Adam and I have--let me explain. We are getting married March 29, but our big celebration to follow later is themed "Guess What? We're Married!" So no, we didn't run off to the courthouse, which many people have already asked us. We'll be married soon, and in time for the party we're having, hence the name :)

You Are Most Like Carrie!

You're quirky, flirty, and every guy's perfect first date.

But can the guy in question live up to your romantic ideal?

It's tough for you to find the right match - you're more than a little picky.

Never fear... You've got a great group of friends and a

great closet of clothes, no matter what!

Romantic prediction: You'll fall for someone this year...

Totally different from any guy you've dated.

I haven't blogged in a year! I didn't give up on the idea entirely, but I'm not super comfortable with putting myself out there regularly the way some people do on their blogs. Plus, I don't even know if people will read it. I do have some updates since a year ago, so read on.

I fell in love. Some of my earlier blogs were in reference to the pursuit of a wonderful boy named Adam; now we've been together for one year! That's a world record for me, and something so special and irreplaceable. After 26 years of dates and semi-relationships, someone finally tamed my wild heart and has shown me the power of mutual romantic affection! I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have found this inimitable man.

I'm not dancing much lately but have really become involved with yoga. It's a great way to manage stress and physical health. I do want to still pursue dance, and also want to get back into voice training and piano lessons or perhaps another instrument. We'll see about this when the money and timing is right...

Split Pillow has continued to grow and gain so much respect and involvement in the city. I am so proud to be a part of something that is constantly pushing boundaries and welcoming all who want to join our community. For me, a huge honor was bestowed this week when we were featured on Chicago Public Radio's "848" program. I can't think of much of a bigger deal than public radio, one of the institutions I respect most in the modern world.

I can't wait to start riding my bike. A few more months. I'm about to pick up on involvement with some very cool, exciting stuff in the arts world, so I'm looking forward to those opportunities to learn and to contribute. I also have some trips planned to exotic places, and a few weddings to celebrate this year!

Each day I become a little more sure that life is about relishing the moment and not about worrying about the future or the past. I'm not delusional--my hyper-organized planning and overanylizing will never stop, and I'm sure a ghost will haunt me from time to time. But I am developing faith in the idea that if I can make it through today, maybe tomorrow, next week; and if I do something meaningful and tell someone I love them and take pride in my choices with a consciencious heart and open mind, then I've lived exactly right.

The past few days have been unseasonably warm, and the snow has been melting all over. But tonight it's supposed to snow again. I enjoyed my time off from the wool coat, but I guess it's time to put it back on. Besides, I had so much fun playing in the snow during the blizzard a few weeks back. I wouldn't live here if I couldn't handle the winter. I've been loving my dance classes and the way I feel during and after a class. I'm starting to think I should pursue this aggressively and see if I can perform again; afterall, my dream has always been to dance on Broadway. I also want to live in Paris with Melanie and study French. I also plan to be a top executive of a major arts organization someday, so I have a lot of work to do to get there. And I'd love to sing in a rock band. Freelance arts criticism would be fun too. I wonder if I can do it all? I don't know if it's the marzapan tea I'm drinking, or the cozy, safe environment I'm currently in. But somehow, right now, I think that I just might be able to do it all.

Yesterday I realized that there's no reason I should be afraid of pursuing what is of overwhelming interest to me. So I tried something brave, something new. And if things hadn't gone the way I hoped, a beer by myself never hurt a girl. Let me back up: I've been hearing a lot about this book called "He's Just Not That Into You." I haven't read it, but from what I've heard/excerpts I've read, I do believe most women could benefit from reading it. It encourages me to step back from the situation and evaluate whether he's into me, or if I'm just making excuses for him and creating a relationship in my head because it's what I think I want. According to Jack Berger, the character in SATC that first uttered the now famous phrase, if he's into you, he'll say yes. He'll accept the offer, he'll take the initiative, he'll be there. If he's not doing this, he's just not that into you. As did Miranda in this particular episode, I have had revolutionary thoughts! Initially, we're looking for something special. It's not about the person, it's about the experience we want to have. If he's not into me, I can let go of that person--even if I've deemed him great--because I deserve the experience that I want and need, and he's obviously not going to give it to me. I've had a billion imaginary boyfriends. No more imagining.
