Post production is going well. It's an incredible journey to make a film, especially if it's your brain child and you're doing everything yourself (down to drawing the cartoons, writing new voice overs, editing music and cutting scenes and shooting a new scene. The amazing Latin Grammy award winner PABLO ZIEGLER offered me to use his music in my film. Therefore I've reworked a number of scenes to be able to bring his music in.I'm so grateful and excited!

Wednesday, 2/7/07 will be my last shoot day of MANGO TANGO. It has been a 22 day shoot. We started August 13th 2006 in Germany. It's been quite a journey! I'm already developing my next film. So much fun!!!
By the way, the two best films I've seen in years are: Clint Eastwood's 'Letters From Iwo Jima' and the German film 'The Lives Of The Others'. I recently saw a screening at the National Board Of Review's screening, which I'm a new member of.

At the annual awards gala of the National Board Of Review last month, I was able to have conversations with Steven Spielberg, John Patrick Shanley and Clint Eastwood. How cool is that!!!

I did it!!! Last night I performed 3 numbers (duets) at the LATIN
RHYTHMS /BROADWAY CARES event.
My friend Richard Amaro did a great job, I also danced a jazzy
Flamenco number with him that is also going to be in my movie MANGO
TANGO.
Then I danced 2 more numbers with Jose Solano. We had never performed
together and got together only 2 days ago for the first time. Jose
did a great job.
The music was great, Chita Rivera inspired with song and dance and my
mother came all the way from Germany to see me dance for the first
time in New York!
Life is good.

Yesterday something cool happened. In June I was on the subway and three older black men came through, seeing in harmony. They moved me to tears. I asked them if they wanted to be in my film. They said yes and gave me a phone number. I tried to call them 3 months later and the number was disconnected. They really fit so well into a specific part in my film and I've been praying I'd bump into them again. Well, my prayer was answered today. I was on the 1 train and there were 2 of them. This time they sounded tired and weak and the third was missing. I right away talked to them, got their new number and they assured me that all three of them would like to do my film.
I sat down and a gentleman next to me started talking to me ( he had overheard us). He said he was a film distributor...we'll see what happens.
I believe when you take action and follow your heart, the universe cooperates...sometimes.
Saw the movie 'Perfume' today. Very interesting. The German director was there, he also directed 'Run, Lola Run'. He said he modeled the feel and the color composition of the film after Rembrandt's paintings.
Over and Out.

I'm dancing day and night, rehearsing, teaching, rehearsing again. I love dance. Walking down the street I feel a swing in my step. It's so immediately gratifying and ADDICTIVE!! Thank you God. I know that sounds corny, but since my knee surgery I don't take anything for granted anymore. Every day I can dance I'm happy.

Yesterday I got to meet Emilio Estevez. He wrote and Anthony Hopkins
produced the film 'BOBBY'. It's opening soon. Very profound movie
about the people connected to Bobby Kennedy at the time of his death.
Wonderful ensemble work!! Anthony hopkins, Harry Belafonte, Emilio
Estevez, his father Martin Sheen, Helen Hunt, Lawrence Fishburne,
Sharon Stone, Demi Moore, to name but a few. They all did the film
for scale which means only about $1500 per day because they loved the
script so much.
I'm in the midst of rehearsals for BROADWAY CARES/ LATIN RHYTHMS. I'm
doing 3 numbers with 3 different partners. Very little rehearsal time!!
Will continue shooting my movie in mid-December, the camera is in the
shop and Michele, the DP will be doing a gig in Italy for a few weeks
this month. By the way, my sister-in-laws' store is going to be
featured in my film. It's all cool hand made recycled things and
wonderful hand bags and hats she designed. Adios for now.

Two years ago today my beloved dance partner Greg Mitchell suffered a
fatal heart attack while playing an angel onstage at the Kennedy
Center, saving a soldier's life ( played by the great Mikhail
Baryshnikov). Greg was the sweetest, most well tempered, supportive,
passionate partner I've ever had. I used to perform with him as guest
artists at different symphony orchestras in the US and Canada. He was
such a professional and so dedicated to his art that he would
rehearse with me and fine tune moves AFTER we had finished all the
performances at a certain place.

Yesterday I had the privilege to see Marcia Gay Harden's work in a
new movie called 'The Dead Girl' again. Even though I wasn't into the
movie, her performance was so heartfelt and real, she made me cry.
Her brother Thaddeus incidentally, a very talented photographer and
passionate tango- new comer, will make his acting debut in my film.

Threw out my neck today and my teeth are still giving me
trouble...Had the best donut today from this great coffee shop. I'm
addicted! In 2 days I MUST go on a diet!!! And guess what I'll do
tomorrow? One more donut...

Well, yesterday I talked to two time Emmy winner and 'ALL MY
CHILDREN' star MICHAEL KNIGHT and he said he'd love to play a role in
my film. Michael is a terrific actor with a wide range and I'm
excited to be shaping a part for him in my script. I'm so blessed
with all the talented people who want to participate in my movie.
Now I just have to get David Letterman. Wish me luck...I've done his
show a few times this year and wrote my script with him in mind .
Other than that, I'm living with bad tooth aches nowadays. This
happens sometimes in life: the good comes with the bad, even though
in my case I'm basically happy and thrilled and excited.
