3. WHAT I  EXPECT FROM BANDS IS THAT YOU WILL PROMOTE THE SHOWS HARD. YOU WANT TO GET PAID TO PLAY A SHOW THEN YOU NEED TO GET PEOPLE INTO THE CLUB SO YOU AREN'T PLAYING TO A ROOM FULL OF EQUIPMENT. I GO TO SHOWS AND HANDOUT FLYERS. I DO THE FOOTWORK. YOU SHOULD BE TOO! IF I SEE YOU'RE OUT THERE PROMOTING BOTH ONLINE AND AT SHOWS AND I SEE YOU'RE BRINGING PEOPLE INTO THE CLUB THEN I HAVE NO PROBLEMS BOOKING YOU FOR FUTURE SHOWS. IF YOU'RE NOT OUT THERE DOING THE LEGWORK DON'T EXPECT ME TO BOOK YOU AGAIN. I PROMOTE MY SHOWS AND OTHERS THAT AREN'T MINE, SO THE LEAST YOU CAN DO IS PROMOTE A SHOW YOU'RE PLAYING!

4.BE ON TIME AND HAVE YOUR EQUIPMENT WITH YOU. DO NOT SHOW UP TO THE CLUB WITHOUT YOUR GEAR. IF YOU ARRIVE LATE AND YOU ARE NOT READY TO PLAY AT THE TIME GIVEN YOU MAY POTENTIALLY FORFEIT YOUR SET. I WILL CONTACT YOU WITH SET TIMES THE WEEK BEFORE THE SHOW IF NOT SOONER.

5.ONLY HEADLINING BANDS WILL GET A GAURANTEE. IF YOU ARE IN A LOCAL BAND AND DON'T BRING ANYBODY INTO THE CLUB DO NOT EXPECT TO GET PAID. IF YOU WANT TO GET PAID FOR PLAYING A SHOW-IT'S REAL SIMPLE: GET OUT THERE AND PROMOTE IT. YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN FLYER OR USE THE ONE I SEND YOU.  WORD OF MOUTH IS ANOTHER  GOOD WAY TO GET PEOPLE OUT TO A SHOW. DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO! I KEEP MY OWN DOOR POLL SO THAT I KNOW WHO IS BRINGING WHAT NUMBER OF PEOPLE THROUGH THE DOOR EACH SHOW.

6. IF YOU'RE COMING TO PLAY A SHOW-THE LEAST YOU CAN DO IS STICK AROUND AND SUPPORT THE OTHER BANDS ON THE BILL! IT'S THAT SIMPLE.

 AND IF YOU'RE DOING THIS FOR THE MONEY THEN KEEP IT MOVING. WE DO THIS BECAUSE WE LOVE IT.

Listen on the real hardcore/punkrock shows are not about violence sometimes people get hurt by accident but u should not be going out there trying 2 hurt someone 4 no good justiFication iF u are doing this u should not be apart oF this scene when someone falls u pick em up u don't trample them or stomp them out cause u think "thats what its all about" thats not what the Fuck its all about its all about positivity it always was..... the anger and hatred came From not trying 2 conform 2 anything in anyway shape or form its all about bieng and individual and standing up 4 yourselF! now i understand fights happen 4 whatever reason but keep it away From the shows its ruining everything that u ever believed in and destroying all that is good inside this hardcore scene its dies with the one's who give up on it.............it ends when u say it does don't let that happen we had a movement a revolution sparking i Felt it i saw it happening with my own 2 Fucking eyes that fealing like we actually are making a change 4 the better and helping everyone around us connecting and standing up 4 something other then just some sensless violence stop all this bullshit and lets come together and just have Fun and play music!

15 years ago i went to my first hardcore show. full of rage...pissed off and angry at the world. looking for a place where i could express myself how i needed to without worrying about people judging me. i found myself in this tiny whole in the wall which soon became my home away from home. i knew no one. just the kids i was there with...my friends. my "family". looking for a place to get away from the bullshit that life had to give... looking for my salvation. At 14 yrs old I spent 4 nights a week going to shows like many of us did and still do. ..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

 

A year ago I never thought that one day I'd be booking my own shows. It all happened by accident. I fell into this…and soon discovered that my love for it was huge. My love and my passion for hardcore is what drives me to do what I am trying so hard to do at the pyramid. The idea behind putting shows on at the pyramid was not my own. It was a good one though.. and I decided to stick with it despite the bullshit and dedicated myself to giving back to a scene that over the years truly gave so much to me. In great part.. hardcore a big part of the reason why I'm here now.

 

Hardcore has become so fragmented over the course of the last few years and it's only getting worse…. There is such adversity within this scene. What the hell happened? When did it become such a dog eat dog world? When did it become more about the people and less about the music. When did it become so competitive? And why? Why can't we work together to foster something that means so much to us?

 

If you've been to the pyramid you know that the shows are small. Others put on much larger events. I'm happy to see that. And though we don't work together…I wish there could be more of a cohesiveness in what we do. My purpose, my goal is simply to provide bands with a venue to play in and to provide friends, family and fans alike a place to go and see those bands play. This isn't for "me"… this isn't for "them"… this is for "US"… and about the music.

 

It's really disheartening when I see the shit that is going on in the scene today. I don't like feeling like it's me against the rest of the city…a losing battle. I know that I can't do this alone but together WE can do this! In a big city I'm a small fish… but my intentions are good.. and I will do what I can do continue to put on shows. I hope that there will are some people out there who WILL support what I do and help however they can to get the word out there.. It's about equal opportunity at the pyramid…. Come one, come all… just leave the bullshit at the door!

 

Many say the scene is dying.. well here is your chance to be a part of something that has real potential to revive what we love so much. Get out there and support your local bands. Go to the shows. Repost bulletins, hand out a few flyers… but come out and support the underground scene… Are you a part of the problem or a part of the solution?

 

Hardcore… my love, my passion… my blood, sweat and tears. Despite the love/hate struggle… I won't walk away.
