Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
And as I climb into an empty bed
Oh well. Enough said.
I know it's over - still I cling
I don't know where else I can go
Oh ...

Fit like?  Well, it looks like we have been cursed over the last couple of weeks.  Not only was Lewis stuck down with Tonsilitis, resulting in the cancellation of two gigs, but now our BBC session in Elgin has been cancelled because of the severe weather up there!  I was supposed to go up home to Elgin this morning but the train lines between Dundee and Aberdeen were blocked.  The main road between Aberdeen and Elgin is also treacherous... check this out!

Ok, so that is Aviemore and not Elgin, but you get the general idea!  We obviously wouldn't cancel anything unless the elements were truly against us.

Our album is out on general release on the 6th of March.  It is all very exciting to finally unleash it on the public after all the work that has gone into it.  I can safely say that the artwork looks brilliant.  As usual our man Chris Rainbow has done a stunning job once again and for that we salute him.  The album is avaliable from loads of record shops and i will post a list of them very soon.

Our new website has also been completed.  We're just waiting for the name server to be updated first.  This can take a couple of days to happen to just sit tight.  It looks very cool and i am very pleased to finally have a proper website.  We will be adding more to it over the next few weeks, including things like demo recordings and general weird clips of our strange world.

We don't have any gigs planned for a while because of JCs exam and dissertation situation.  However, there may be a few Scottish dates coming up if they don't clash with any of his exams.  We will keep you informed about any resheduled dates from February as well.

Until then, stay fresh... we will

Got some bad news for anyone who was going to be coming to the Gigs in Brighton and Bistol tonight and tomorrow.  We have had to cancl them because our drummer has come down with tonsilitis and is not capable of the rock.  We are gutted that we can't make these gigs.  It really is all we've been looking forward to over the last few weeks, but we wouldn't pull out of any gigs unless we absolutley had to.  The Aberdeen gig on Saturday will still go ahead as Lewis thinks he will have recovered enough by then.

Anyhoo.  Despite this set back it has been an excellent start to the year for us.  We played some excellent gigs in January at our own shows and on the Kerrang tour with Exit Ten and Blindside.  Our single also got to number 70 in the charts.  How cool is that?

Our album, 'Bucko',  is also hitting the shops on the 6th of Match so make sure you go out and buy it.  Support the cause!  It got the Rocksound approved album of the month title in the March issue so it must be good!

Hello there and happy New Year to you all! I've just about recovered from the madness that was Hogmanay. I hope you have too. I can't believe that it is 2006 already. We have so much planned for this year that I’m sure it's going to fly by. We got our very first feature in Kerrang! today. This was a fairly defining moment for me because I used to buy the magazine religiously for years when I was a youngster. I never actually thought I would get to see my band in it; kinda feels 'proper'. We're also away on the Kerrang most wanted tour at the end of the month. It should be a good laugh providing nothing goes horribly wrong. We've done a few tours of the country now and so far we've been fairly lucky in that nothing terrible has happened. We do have some gaps in our tour schedule that we need to fill on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd. If anyone reading this would like us to play a gig for them somewhere in the South West or middle of England then PLEASE get in touch with us and we can try and work something out. The two gigs we have before then are in Swindon on the 19th and Devizes on the 20th. The Kerrang tour starts in Cardiff on the 24th so we're looking for gigs in that area at the moment. Our next single is out on the 9th of January. This time it is 'Just like i got used to saying corteney cox arquette'. This single is a co-release between Smalltown America and One Records and will be available on 7" record as well as CD this time... exciting! Right, I’m off to try and sort out some gigs for the rest of the month. I’ll post any updates here and on the temporary fickle Website. Over and out…….

Current mood:  sore
Hello again. There was a lot I was going to write about this week but I've calmed down I can't really remember much of it. I'll see what i can do. Anyhoo, we took a trip over to Belfast last Thursday to play a gig with Fighting With Wire and V Formation. We were invited over by the good people of the Two Step club and were shown a damm good time over there. Unfortunately our day started at about 5:30am because we had to get a train from Glasgow to Stranraer at 7am. What Scotrail didn't tell us was that there was no FUCKING HEATING ON THE FUCKING GODFORSAKEN TRAIN! Jesus, I’m telling you; when you have to get up at the crack of dawn for a two hour journey the last thing you need is to sit there in the freezing cold! There was no toilet either. Anyway, we got to Stranraer eventually, but frozen. The ferry was nice enough, and I couldn't believe how fast the thing could go. I tried to sleep on the ferry but I never really managed to drift off (no pun intended). We got to Belfast around midday I think and were greeted at the ferry terminal by Mr Graham Smith - our appointed photographer for the day. So we got a couple of taxis to the Limelight, dumped our gear there, got some food at the pub next door and then hit the streets of Belfast for a photo shoot and a couple of drinks. About 6000 pictures later we went to the venue to sound check... The gig was pretty good with V Formation and FWW rocking out. I think we played pretty well. Jim fell over on the first chord of the first song... what a fool. Apparently someone thinks he’s 'got it'. I don't really know what that means, maybe its some sort of STD.... Afterwards we went to Joe Two Step's house where there was a party in full swing! I could barely keep my eyes open so after a while i went to find somewhere quiet to lie down. At this point I did not know we had a whole room that we could sleep in and made do with the upstairs hallway (honestly at the time it seemed like a good place). Then people started standing on my face. Next day we found a Weatherspoons pub, had a fry up there and legged it to the ferry terminal where we waved goodbye to Belfast. However, since then I’ve been trying to get rid of that damm monopoly money that these people call pounds. Ever since I’ve been back I’ve spent most of my time trying to convince sceptical shopkeepers that Northern Irish pounds are the same as ours. 'But it says sterling on it!' I plead...... never mind eh? We're playing a gig at Oran Mor tonight with our buddies Carson and Someyoungpedro. Should be a good laugh I think. I am still recovering from the Belfast excursion though so I think I will take it easy tonight. I must go, but until then... you stay classy word

Dear readers, i thought i would bless you with another blog.  I never thought that i would start to enjoy this, but i have.  It has improved my life in many ways.  For a start i've started to pay much more attention to my spelling and grammar.  When ones writing is exposed to, say, 19 views a week then you must really ensure that your grammatical abilities are suitable for a level of such scrutiny.  Ever since i finished uni i have felt that my brain function has slipped down a level or two.  I've tried to rectify this by reading books more often; and this has actually been quite successful over the last few months.  However, i have been planning to start a book on the American civil war but i cannot seem to get myself to read it.  In fact, it is sitting on the table in my room right now, mocking me... i should burn it, but i'm not a Nazi.

I went to a halloween party last night 'dressed' as Satan.  Although, this costume consisted of a mask.  I told by someone at the party that Satan doesn't wear jeans.  To that i replied 'yes, but does the devil not walk amongst us?'.  Deep eh?  Not bad for a drunken fool... hmmmmm.  Anyway, my friend Doug was dressed as a gameboy! how cool is that?  Another guy was dressed as a shower! with a curtain and everything.  I must admit i felt a little underdressed.

So our single is out and about the country now.  I've even found it on ebay.  Everyone seems to be quite impressed that you can buy it in HMV.  If you've not bought it yet then GET ON THE CASE AND BUY IT!  We need to eat like everyone else does.

I've drunk too much coffee today.

So apparently bird flu is fast approaching the UK eh? Better stay away from birds then. That's all i have to say on the matter. Now, Neighbours. I just watched the 20th anniversary programmes. I have to say it was a pretty emotional time for me. All those memories came flooding back to me. And it wasn't just the neighbours characters that brought back the memories. Andi Peters was the presenter for the programme after Neighbours! Ahh, memories of him in the broom cupboard after school brought back some poignant memories aswell. I’m sure that im not the only one who felt this way. We have now all seen the finished edit of the video for 'just like i got used to saying corteney cox arquette' and i have to say that we all look extremely handsome. You'll be able to make up your own minds when it gets aired. Im not too sure when that will be but i'll be sure to let you know when the time comes. The decision was made to make the video black and white because everyone felt that the lighting worked better in this format. It is a very different video to the 'kittens got claws' and we're looking forward to letting everyone check it out. Speaking of 'kittens got claws', its not too long until it is formally unleashed on to the world! It will be in shops on the 24th of October for your listening pleasure. We've been picking up some good reviews and airplay already which you can find out about on the Smalltown America website here. I did the interview for Rock Sound magazine last week. It went alright i think. Its difficult to try and describe what our songs are about in such a short period of time. Its also difficult because im not the only lyric writer in the band and sometimes its not easy to explain other people's ideas. However, i think i managed to get some sort of point across. I guess i'll see for myself when it gets printed! Then it'll be too late! I think the interview is going to be printed on the 9th of November so be sure to check it out. I just read on pitchfork that American Analogue Set are calling it a day after their next tour. That’s a shame because they are really a great band. Im just glad i got the chance to see them in Glasgow a couple of years ago. They’re not coming to Britain at all on this tour unfortunately which is an even bigger shame because their latest album is great. You should give it a listen. Right, well im off to try and find a job. It really is very hard to find something these days that doesn’t involve working in a call centre. Hopefully one day we'll be able to actually make our living from playing music....one day!

Hello people, i hope you are all doing fine.  It has been a fairly long time since i've posted anything here so i thought i would tell you all whats been going on in the world of fickle public over the last few weeks.  Our forthcoming single has been played several times on national radio now.  Even Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickenson has played it on his own radio six programme!  Now i think thats a pretty good endorsement of our sound!  Rumour has it i am to be interviewed next week by a well known rock magazine.  Its been an awfully long time since i've been interviewd so im not too sure what to expect.  'What are your main songwriting influences?'.... Uhhh, the rain, alcohol and fear!  I think so anyway.  Anyway, i'll let you all know how it goes sometime next week.

We played in Manchester last Sunday for the Glasswerk in the city showcase.  It was an alright gig.  Due to Lewis being confused as to when we were supposed to be onstage we arrived less than half an hour before we played so it was quite a rushed affair.  We only had time to have one extremely rushed pint before we went on stage.  We played pretty well but the overall atmosphere of the gig was pretty stifled.  I think it was because the gig was so early (5:40pm) so the audence werent as drunk as i would have liked them to be.  A smattering of applause and a deathly silence between each song usually indicates that the audience are fairly sober.  The rest of the band left to go back to Glasgow about an hour after the gig.  I stayed down in England with my friend for the rest of the week because we were going down to London to film a video three days later.  Im unemployed so i can do these things.... unlike the rest of the band.

Aye, so.  We were down in London yesterday filming the video for our next single.  This time its 'just like i got used to saying courteney cox arquette'.  Again the video was directed by famed director/drummer Raife Burchell.  Nothing could prepare us for the set up he had prepared.  We arrived at a studio (yes, a real film studio) on Thursday morning to be confronted by real cameras, tracks and lights... and a crew of eight people!  You can see some pictures from the day in the picture section.  We started filming at 10am and didnt finish until 7pm.  Everybody was compleatly knackered after it.  However, i cannot wait to see the finished video.  Judging by the playbacks we saw in the studio it looks like its going to be a really professional video.  It made us look pretty handsome!  Can you believe that?  its amazing what they can do with make up these days!

Thats it for now.  Like i said.... i'll let you all know how the interview goes.
