power is the eternal guide, in this life and the life after, for man
ranks supreme among all creatures. Led forward by spiritual power, man
can reach the summit destined for him by the Great Creator. (H.I.M.

If you wish to understand the Universe, think of energy, frequency and vibration (Nikola Tesla) What
is the verdict of history, the lesson of life? Man must venture, dare
and hope to succeed and success will attend him. So apathy must be
replaced with audacity, blind faith with questing faith, doubt by
exploratory deeds and if man can believe in nothing else, he must learn
to believe in himself. If he cannot aspire to something infinitely
greater beyond himself, he must aspire to infinite greatness within
himself. (AUTHOR UNKNOWN)

New Music From Highah Seekah
Set The Goal Get The Gold
Fort Lauderdale, Florida: In response to the unprecedented performance of Jamaica's Track & Field athletes at the 29th Olympics in Beijing, China, Highah Seekah has recorded a new song, Set The Goal Get The Gold, to commemorate their success.
There have been many 'tribute' songs from many Reggae and Dancehall artists since the 2008 Olympics concluded but Highah Seekah's is unique. The song not only revisits the historic and world-record setting Track & Field moments of the likes of Shelly-Ann Frasier, Usain 'lightning' Bolt and other members of the Jamaican team that took place in 'The Bird's Nest,' but also looks ahead to the future of Jamaica, urging that "…with this new national pride and zeal, let it be good and lasting for real…" and to "..Use this time, Jah bless and renew this time…" to "…improve financially, economically and all sorts..." Such are some of sentiments of the song.
With clear lyrics, message and a smooth delivery, Set The Goal Get The Gold will have you repeating it over and over and in short order, will have you singing along word for word. The song is available for download purchase at http://reggaedubwise.com/members/40/store.php, www.highahseekah.com or www.myspace.com/highahseekah.
Highah Seekah is the Reggae Festival Guide 2007 "Reggae Artist on the Rise." He was born in Savanna-la-mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica on August 6, 1980 and after his first 12 years of life, his parents migrated their family to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1993. He now looks to take his music to the world stage and will appear on Royal Inity Records' Mad Notes Riddim compilation Cd with "Body Mind & Soul." Mad Notes also features artists such as Luciano, Natty King, Jah Mason, Lutan Fyah, Gentleman, Khari Kill and Virgin Island artists such as Binghi Ghost, Pressure, Ras Attitude, Niyorah, and Batch.
Highah Seekah also has a series of 'mixtape' albums available, which all 'feecha' the artist's vocal versatility and perceptive writing ability; They are: Journalism 101: The Mixtape 2007 (Mixtape Series: Volume 1), Highah Seekah & Friends: 2003-2008 (Mixtape Series: Volume 2), Highah Seekah Meets Hip-Hop Beats (Mixtape Series: Volume 3), These Are The Days (Mixtape Series: Volume 4) and Love Songs (Mixtape Series: Volume 5). Highah Seekah's debut album, Body Mind & Soul, will be released soon.

Take a long deep puff of today’s track "Ganja Computer" by THE TENTACLES. Hip-hop, trip-hop, psychedelic, what-ever you call todays music it will groove you to your soul and have you humming the lyrics all weekend. With a killer bass line, funky lyrics and a bit of electronica, the Tentacles have me convinced that I do, in fact, have a ganja computer. Well-known in the underground New York music scene, members Sam Crees and Peter Teraberry are artists in every sense of the word. They have an online and traveling art show called MODA (Museum of Drunken Art) filled with all the weird and wonderful art they create and collect. I found the perfect guy-with-a-guitar kind of music. MARK GOTHARD has a unique voice like other greats of this genre, (think Tom Waits, Neil Young), his guitar style is engaging and warm, and like all good folkster artists he has something to say. Today’s track "If Thomas Jefferson Were Here" is a reflection on the state of our government. In our struggle to end prohibition we can get inspiration from the Jefferson quote "The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government". Follow me to a place in the sun with Artist SLY JOE. Take a musical jaunt to sunny places like So Cal and New Mexico, and even a skip through Hawaii with this upbeat, just-what-we- need-on-a-Tuesday, melody. The musical hit today, "High" fills me up like a fresh squeezed lemonade at a dusty summer festival. How could any song that features a ukelele and a kazoo not give you a lift? Even though Sly Joe, who lives in Neenah, Wisconsin, is probably scraping the ice off his windshield today, he has me dreaming of enjoying some Pakalolo with my peeps on Makena beach. Aloha! Since a few weeks ago when our esteemed host, "Double R" mentioned the unbelievable statistic of one in every hundred American Citizens living behind bars, I have been thinking about the real reason we must stop the war on drugs; it’s a war on people. Today’s song from artist DAVIS COEN goes out to our brothers and sisters of the cannabis community who are paying the price in this unnecessary war. Today’s musical hit is called "DEA Blues" and unfortunately too many in our community have had to sing a similar tune. Davis calls Charleston, South Carolina home and has toured in the US with such blues greats as James Cotton, North Mississippi All-Stars and John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers. He has also toured in Europe and has done benefits for Katrina victims. You can buy his CD’s on his website at daviscoen.com. The group P.A.I.N (which stands for Propaganga and Information Network) recorded the song "Grow More Weed" in 2001 with none other than Mr. Nice himself, Howard Marks, who joins lead vocalist Jon Eris on this heavy-dub reggae, ska-influenced tune. Mr. Marks famously spent seven years in an American prison for drug trafficking and later ran for election to UK Parliament on the single issue of the legalize cannabis campaign. He didn’t make Parliament, but he continues to write and campaign vigorously for the legalization of recreational and medical cannabis. AMÉLIE is an Italian band with a French name and a British-style pop sound. They coundn’t get more "continental" unless Christopher Walken joined the band! (So come in my little wide-eyed, white-tailed doe, sit, please) Today’s music hit is called "Get High" from their second album "Be Low". With a driving beat, it sounds a bit like "Radiohead" meets "Coldplay". JON NICHOLSON is an amazing self-taught fingerstyle guitarist who calls Spokane, Washington home. Jonathan began playing guitar at 15, and it sounds like the guitar has become an extension of his arms. Today’s music hit, "Grandma’s Gettin’ High" is an insightful ballad that evokes country greats like Willie and Waylon. As the boomers are aging, it is natural that the median age of marijuana smokers is getting older, but I still think about an earlier generation that didn’t have the same opportunities to partake, and I remember that it’s never too late to learn. Have you talked to your grandparents about pot? I think I’ll put that on a bumper sticker! If you like his music please visit Jon’s page at jonathannicholson.com. He now resides in New York where he continues to develop his jazzy, funky, soulful style working with some of the great musicians of that genre such as Bruce Johnson and James Blood Ulmer (Jazz is the teacher, Funk is the preacher!). Born the son of a cotton farmer and blues musician, James ’Boo Boo’ Davis was born in Drew, Mississippi in the heart of the Delta then moved to St Louis in the early sixties to start a blues band with his brothers. If by some chance you were in East St. Louis in the seventies and eighties you might have caught the Davis Brothers Band at the blues club, Tabby’s Red Room, where they played for eighteen years from 2am to 6am every Friday and Saturday. A reggae beat with rhymin’ lyrics that demand our attention, todays music hit gets right to the point. Chronic Clan consists of Zoro, Gee & Crosby. Born and raised in Gugulethu, South Africa, one of Cape Town’s roughest ghettos, Chronic Clan lends their music studio to local youth so they can spread the positive healing that comes with music. Their music is a mix of reggae and dancehall, hip-hop and R & B. The conscious lyrics and their uplifting message has put them on stage with reggae icon, Rita Marley. Spreading their message globally, Gee now lives in Sweden. Great world beat music, like Chronic Clan reminds us that our struggle is global and we all stand together! Hail the Kings of Kings 77 x Infinity, who has Conquered and still Conquering; The Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah of Israel, His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Sellassie I. Hail the Empress, Empress Menen. From past Ages to this Age, and to future Ages, Jah Power, Jah Wisdom, and Jah Love Manifest, thanks and praises. Love, Light, Life and Respect
A Tribute to: The Coronation of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I
National Geographic reported that in 1930, as the dawn cleared in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on November 2, it met everyone getting ready for the special historical event to take place that morning - The Coronation of The Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah.
Together with his Empress, His Imperial Majesty, Haile Selassie I spent the night before in prayer and devotion at the most high alter. During the morning chanting of praises resonated and dancing priests with pulsating drum rhythms joined in. Ancient Jewish rites which were in use at the time of King David, were re-lived right there before the ark of the covenant, the report stated. The Coptic Church in all its impressive might and splendor evoked biblical rituals that seemed to roll the centuries back.
As the time came for this coronation, which is the most important event in the Rastafarian Calendar today, His Imperial Majesty entered the ceremonial hall attired in white silk. He was escorted by aides and clergy and was preceded by waving incense burners.
"The Emperor’s name was Anglicized as Power of the Holy Trinity and he gave his sacred pledge to uphold the Orthodox religion of the Church, to support and administer the laws of the country for the betterment of the people, to maintain the integrity of Ethiopia, and to found schools for developing the Spiritual and Material welfare of her subjects," National Geographic reported.
Once His Imperial Majesty took his place on the throne, his holiness Abuna Kyrillos broke the solemn silence with the following decree:
"Ye princes and ministers, ye nobles and chiefs of the army, ye soldiers and people of Ethiopia, and ye doctors and chiefs of the clergy, ye professors and priests, look ye upon our Emperor Haile Selassie the First, descended from the dynasty of Menelik the First, who was born of Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, a dynasty perpetuated without interruption from the time of King Sehale to our times."
Following ancient customs as when Samuel anointed David, chanting and prayers to the God of Gods rose from priestly voices and wonderful gifts bestowed. The Abuna then anointed His Imperial Majesty’s head with oil and further declared:
"That God make this Crown a Crown of Glory. That, by the Grace and the blessing which we have given, you may have an Unshaken Faith and a Pure Heart, in order that you may inherit the Crown Eternal. So be it."

Material and Spiritual Progress
"To make our wills obedient to good influences and to avoid evil, is to show the greatest wisdom. In order to follow this aim one must be guided by religion. Progress without religion is just like a life surrounded by unknown perils and can be compared to a body without a soul.
"Knowing that material and spiritual progress are essential to man, we must ceaselessly work for the equal attainment of both. Only then shall we be able to acquire that absolute inner calm so necessary to our well-being. Whenever conflict arises between material and spiritual values, the conscience plays an important role and anyone who suffers from a guilty conscience is never really free from this problem until he makes peace with himself and his conscience.
"Discipline of the mind is a basic ingredient of genuine morality and therefore of spiritual strength. Spiritual power is the eternal guide, in this life and the life after, for man ranks supreme among all creatures. Led forward by spiritual power, man can reach the summit destined for him by the Great Creator.
"Since nobody can interfere in the realm of God we should tolerate and live side by side with those of other faiths. In the mystic traditions of the different religions we have a remarkable unity of spirit. Whatever religion they may profess, they are spiritual kinsmen. While the different religions in their historic forms bind us to limited groups and militate against the development of loyalty to the world community, the mystics have already stood for the fellowship of humanity in harmony with the spirit of the mystics of ages gone by.
"No one should question the faith of others, for no human being can judge of the ways of God.
"However wise or however mighty a person may be, he is like a ship without a rudder if he is without God. A rudderless ship is at the mercy of the waves and the wind, drifts wherever they take it and if there arises a whirlwind it is smashed against the rocks and becomes as if it has never existed. It is our firm belief that a soul without Christ is bound to meet with no better fate. The love shown by our God to mankind should constrain all of us who are followers and disciples of Christ, to do all in our power to see to it that the message of salvation is carried to those of our fellows who have not had the benefit of hearing the good news.
"It is our conviction that all the activities of the children of men, which are not guided by the Spirit and council of God will bear no lasting fruits; they will not be acceptable in the sight of God. It will therefore come to naught as the tower of Babel came to naught. The grace of God is Eternal. Angels in Heaven and the Creation on Earth sing His Praise . We thank the Master of the world Almighty God. Power belongs to God. May God Our Creator, the Helper and Guiding Light of us all grant you His Wisdom that you may bear fruits for His Glory."

Current mood: artistic
A leader must possess initiative, which is the creative ability to think in new ways and do new things. He cannot afford to set up a procedure, and then fold his hands and linger lazily watching it work. He cannot be content merely to see new trends and take advantage of them. He must keep his imagination vividly alive, so as to originate ideas and start trends.
A good leader is devoted to his work and will willingly forego even the demads of Sleep to see its accomplishment. This does not mean that he is impetuous. On the other hand, he maintains a balance between emotional drive and sound thinking.
His labours, which sometimes appear excessive, derive from his firm realization that unless man undertakes more than he can possibly do he will never be able to do all that he can. It is his enthusiasm that stimulates his energy.
The true leader is one who realizes by faith that he is an instrument in the hands of God, and dedicates himself to be a guide and an inspirer of the nobler sentiments and aspirations of the people. He will kindle interest, teach, aid, correct and inspire. Those whom he leads will cooperate with him in maintaining dicipline for the good of the group. He will instruct his followers in the goals towards which to strive, and create in them a sense of mutual effort for attaining the goals.

If we are to survive, this Organization must survive. to survive, it must be strengthened. Its executive must be vested with greater authority. The means for the enforcement of its decisions must be fortified; and , if they do not exist, they must be devised. Procedures must be established to protect the small and the weak when threatened by the strong and the mighty. All nations which fulfill the conditions of membership must be admitted and allowed to sit in this assemblage. Equality of representation must be assured in each of its organs. The possibilities which exist in the United Nations to provide the means whereby the hungry may be fed, the naked clothed, the ignorant instructed, must be seized on and exploited, for the flower of peace is not sustained by poverty and want. To achieve that requires courage and confidence. The courage, I believe, we possess. The confidence must be created, and to create confidence we must act courageously.
The great nations of the world would do well to remember that in the modern age even their own fates are not wholly in their hands. Peace demands the united efforts of us all. Who can foresee what spark might ignite the fuse? It is not only the small and the weak who must scrupulously observe their obligations to the United Nations and to one another. Unless the smaller nations are accorded their proper voice in the settlement of the world's problems, unless the equality which Africa and Asia have struggled to attain is reflected in expanded membership in the institutions which make up the United Nations, confidence will come just that much harder. Unless the rights of the least of men are assiduously protected as those of the greatest, the seeds of confidence will fall on barren soil.
The stakes are identical for every one of us: life or death. We all wish to live. We all seek a world in which men are freed of the burdens of ignorance, poverty, hunger and disease. We shall all be hard-pressed to escape the deadly rain of nuclear fall-out, should catastrophe overtake us.
When I spoke at Geneva in 1936 there was no precedent for a Head of State addressing the League of Nations. I am neither the first nor shall I be the last Head of State to address the United Nations, but only I have addressed both the League and this Organization in this capacity. The problems which confront us today are, equally, unprecedented. They have no counterparts on human experience. Men search the pages of history for solutions, for precedents, but there are none.
This then is the ultimate challenge. Where are we to look for our survival, or the answers to questions which have never before been posed? We must look first to Almighty God, who has raised man above the animals and endowed him with intelligence and reason. We must put our faith in Him, that He will not desert us or permit us to destroy humanity which He created in His image. And we must look into ourselves, into the depths of our souls. We must become something we have never been and for which our education and experience and environment have ill prepared us. We must become bigger than we have ever been: more courageous, greater in spirit, larger in outlook. We must become members of a new race, overcoming petty prejudice, owing our ultimate allegiance not to nations but to our fellow men within the human community.
His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Sellassie I
