Awww nawwww he done did it again!!!!

Get it while the gettin is good... Word on the street is that Zo! and the homie Phonte (of Little Brother) have only pressed up 2500 copies of their new project, Zo! and Tigallo Love the 80's.

So why am I spreading the news?

Because I got a chance to remix their remake (that's what I said) of Joe Jackson's "Steppin' Out". Blasphemous? Nah. Homage? Yes! And I was even lucky enough to get the vocals from PhonTigallo Pain himself... The remix is included on the project so go get that! You can swoop it right here...

The first time I ever got a chance see Platinum Pied Pipers was back in '04 at Milk in San Francisco. They had already dropped the "Ridin' High"/"Open Your Eyes" 12", but I still wasn't sure what to expect from them. At that point the group was more hype than buzz in the Bay, but after seeing the show it became evident that PPP was something to pay attention to. And to put icing on the cake, the show introduced us to two women who have proven they to had something to offer the game: Tioimbe Lockhart and Georgia Anne Muldrow. I officially became a fan it all.

I finally got to meet Waajeed at Magic in '06. Dope dude. His only advice on the industry was simple. "Get Your MuthaF@$%& Money!".

How insightful.
No really.

The fact that this remix actually happened shows that Tap and I actually have the power to will things into existence. I can't explain it, but somehow, through a string of events, I knew this would happen. When I finally got the acapella, I instantly fell in love with Karma's vocals. I decided to bring the track into my realm, while still preserving its funk roots. The horns in my version arent the same horns from the original. I wanted to mimic the original, while bringing a sampled element to it. The only request/guideline I recieved about the direction of the remix was to keep it on the dancefloor. So I had to keep it electric.

Go and buy it.
Buy it now.
The wax is available in stores.
It's on Itunes.

Get that, Get that!!!!

Trackadeezy.

What do these folks have in common? Well The guy on the left put out a record for the girl (and her homie) in middle. The Thizz-faced guy on the right produced a track on it entiled "Valley of Love"...

Ok Folks. You're just gonna have to take my word for it, seeing as there is no sound in this video.

So I get an email from my "DJ friend" saying that his "artist manager friend" was at the Staples Center for the NBA Finals match up between Celtics/Lakers last night and that during halftime they played a certain E-40 Remix (you'll wanna click this...) produced by yours truly for the Celtics girls to shake to...

Although I didn't actually get audio confirmation yet, I thought someone might be excited besides me...

Holler!!!

1 O.A.K. "Goodbye Girl"
I was recording in perfect timing with a relationship I was ending. I imagined singing the lyrics this girl that I was very simply not trying to hold on to anymore. This is the first of the remakes that sparked an idea between Tracks and myself to do whole remake album. From Go West, to Confunkshun, to the cure, to the SMITHS. Yeah its goin down. Also this was the song that pretty much started my singing career. Before this song, I wasn't completely interested in the "singer" persona. My hope is to do my own thing without all the bootsy R&B stigmas. I worked the harmonies with my god sister, Hidden Beach recording artist Sunny Hawkins. THANX SIS!

AS SENT TO ME FROM DJ TAP.10:

1 o.A.k. - Goodbye Girl

Before the end of July, I'll finally release the "Tender Knock"
mixtape so that the world will know about this subgenre of music that
DJ Tap.10 coined over 6 years ago, LOL! But it turned out that this
song has nothing to do with that…

I had the idea for Track to remake "Goodbye Girl" because the original
Go West version would sound dope "tenderized"… the song already had a
Tender Knock sensibility. Of course, Track took it in a totally
different direction, like he usually does when doing a remix, or
remake in this case. I was geeked though when I heard the final joint
with the vocal stylizings of Honor Roll freshman, producer ternt
saingerrrr, 1 o.A.k. Also, as a final touch, it was my platinum idea
to have him sing the outro "… so don't say goodnight, say
goodbyeeeeeeeeeeee", as a reference (and play on words) to
Blackstreet's classic "Before I Let You Go". This joint is definitely
one of my favorites from The [Re]Mixtape Vol. 2.

*Peep the Trackademicks Remixes of "Rifle Love" and "Regrets" from the
first [Re]Mixtape for a better understanding of the Tender Knock
genre. Yeeee!!

Video Taken by ME!
Janelle Monae LIVE in Oakland, CA 10/27/07 @ the Oakland Conservatory of Music

Before I ever heard her music, I was familiar with Janelle Monae.. through her highly stylized myspace page. This was around the time she was featured on Big Boi's Purple Ribbon mixtape, before she surfaced on the "Idlewild" soundtrack or the "Morris Brown" video. I like what I heard. Real charismatic. When I heard "Call in the Law" on the soundtrack, I was sold. She had an undeniable amount stage presence on the damn CD! I could tell that she was playing the role while singing the song. I couldn't wait to hear whatever she breathed on. One day Tap told me her first release was out; Metropolis Suite I of IV: The Chase. I can get real descriptive and all that, but I don't think it'll do justice to how excited I was to hear it. Everything was on point; the marketing, press, performances, costumes, blogs- and of course the MUSIC. Contemporary Black Art at its finest. I love a good concept project and this is the best of that. Apparently Diddy was intrigued enough to add her to the family. With siblings like Danity Kane and Day 26, lets hope there's enough food at the table for everyone to eat… I'd love to see Making the Band: The Wondaland Arts Society Edition, although people with talent might be boring to watch... As far as me doing the remix, this is probably my favorite remix on the project. I understand that everyone needs love… especially cute androids.
