Greetings friends!

It's been an interesting few weeks on the DOOMSDAY front...

Firstly, it was released in the UK on DVD & Blu-Ray on September 1st and went stright to number 1 in the sales charts, and held the number one spot on the HMV chart for several weeks. Go Doomsday!

Secondly, and very funnily, Axelle saw McFly's new video "Lies" on MTV recently and thought it looked strangely familiar...



Finally, I just found out from the net (my usual source of info for all things concerning my own film!) that Universal Studios theme park in Orlando has a special DOOMSDAY themed maze at this years Halloween Horror Nights! I'm very honoured!



Since there's very little info about it online I've no idea what it looks like, or indeed if it's any good, so if any of you happen to be in the Orlando neighbourhood and go check it out, please send me some pics and tell me what it's like. I'm curious to know how scary it is.

In other news... I'm just about to start prep on my next movie, but unfortunately I'm not at liberty to say what it is yet. Hopefully there'll be some official news soon and I can tell you a bit more about it....

I think this cover design is perfect - simple, classy and effective. If you're even remotely interested in horror movies, this book should be required reading.

It'll be out in shops later this year, just in time for Halloween!

NEW DOOMSDAY TRAILER

Just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone who came along to the D-DAY triple bill Frightfest event on Saturday!

And an even bigger thankyou (with lots of kisses!) to my wife Axelle for coming up with the whole crazy idea in the first place! (Did you recognise her in Doomsday...twice!?)

It was a storming event! I hope you all had as much fun as we did. It's always a blast getting together with members of the gang from all three films - Sam, Jon, Simon, Paul, Sean, Darren, Les, Chris, Nora-Jane, Shauna, Myanna, Alex, Saskia, Christian, Alexander, et al - but it was even more of a bonus to share the day with the fans of all the movies, and see that you guys enjoy watching these movies as much as we enjoyed making them.

For me, it was a real pleasure watching Dog Soldiers on the big screen again, sitting beside Sean and giggling like idiots remembering the laughs we had making that movie. I also forget just how good, Sean, Kev, Darren, Les, Chris and the gang are in that film. They do it proud.



Seeing The Descent on the big screen again just reminded me of what an amazing job Simon and Sam pulled off making it look so intensely beautiful, especially in the last 20 minutes. It's a work of art!




Glad you guys also enjoyed Doomsday. Coming off the back of Descent I think a lot of people may have been expecting something in a similar dark, serious tone, but I don't like to repeat myself, and for me Doomsday is basically a brutal, action packed romp. An affectionate homage to all the great post-apocalyptic movies I grew up with and cherish to this day. And if you've never seen any of those films, then I guess it'll be a bit of a wake up call for you! Judging from the reaction you all gave it, I'd say you tapped right into the heart of the movie from the offset and knew exactly what I was doing - giving you a relentless thrill ride, 100 minutes of pure crash, bang, and even some wallop! So bravo to you!!




Whoever it was who stood up and cheered when the bunny got blown to smithereens......I salute you!

So, spread the word to all, DOOMSDAY opens this Friday in cinemas across the UK!!

It's been painted by Graham Humphreys, the guy who did these brilliant posters for Evil Dead 1 & 2 and Nightmare on Elm Street, amongst many others...

For those of you who don't already know, Axelle (see pic) is not only my totally awesome and beautiful wife, but she's also a horror writer. ...In other news, it's been officially announced that Doomsday will be released May 9th in the UK (with an 18 certificate for "strong violence and horror"). I know it's a bit later than the US, and if you're a British fan eagerly awaiting the release I'm very sorry. Trust me, it'll be worth waiting for! Just know that release dates are painstakingly juggled and selected by the distributor (in this case Universal) for each country taking into account the other releases before, on and after that date. There were already 10 movies scheduled to be released on March 14th in the UK, so to make sure that you all get the chance to see the movie on the biggest screens at the best cinemas, the distributor pushed it back to a better slot. And after all, remember that the Yanks had to wait a full year to see The Descent in cinemas -- consider this their revenge...!

The official US release poster for DOOMSDAY just went on-line today, but in case you haven't tracked it down yet, here it is.....!
